I think there were three "eras" in Survivor editing. The first spanned the fisrt 6 seasons and gave attention to most of the players. (There were notable exceptions such as Nick in S2 and Zoe in S4 but everyone else had a story)
Then the focus on big players started in PI and that style carried us to around the time of Cook Islands when Probst took over much of Burnett's control of the show. Since then it's big characters and big moves.
As for Nicaragua, yes the three bozos got about as many confessionals but the women had the upper hand for once. Holly and Jane were clearly ahead and, just out of the F6, Na Onka had 50!!
