The statement "unlike all the other men on the show" is not true (I know it was in the article but I think it was misinterpreted by the reporter). I would say that over half of the men in the top ten were "spotted" just like Hank was. Dominic for sure was (there is an article on SirLinksalot from his college's paper where his roommie notes if HE had been at work instead of Dom when the producers came by he might have been on the show), and if anyone has the tape of the second show, there are about four guys at the end in California who seem to be auditioning but they are not in front of the women--Evan is one of them. I have a feeling the producers handpicked ahead of time the guys who were telegenic, personable, etc., etc., and then "helped" them get picked during the auditions.

I'm just throwing this out because the guys all went into it for whatever reason but Hank is not the only one who did not seek it out and so AyaK's supposition that maybe the girls preferred him because of what was in that article cannot true--they did prefer him but his age, job history, and demeanor were probably the factors for that preference.
