LAST EDITED ON 08-19-10 AT 11:01 PM (EST)I liked Marty. It will be interesting to see how Mill Valley/Marin energy mixes with the mactor energy. I am ambivalent about Marinites because of so much exposure to them. My grandparents and dad were Marinites before it turned into CEO, yuppy, New Age land, and I lived there for most of the 80's. There are superficial people side by side with very creative people. Marty seems like a solid guy. However, just by virtue of what he's achieved, as a Yahoo exec, he probably has quite a powerful vibe.
I think Marty could be a leader of his tribe, but if he's down by numbers at any point he will be a natural target.
I like Tyrone, but I think when they do the "lone black male" casting and the person is also a streetwise character, that it's a challenge for that player not to be isolated socially. He seems like someone who would have a low tolerance for BS.
Kelly B -- hard not to be touched hearing how her father died in Haiti. So tragic for her.
Oddly, I liked Jud. I have a soft spot for surfer skate rats, and I liked that he said he swims better than Ozzy, and compares himself to Ozzy. It sounds like he'll play the game with a certain amount of joy at being there, as Ozzy did. I also like his strategy of hiding his brain behind the "rad" and "dude" lingo.
I think I'm supposed to like Brenda, but to me she was just a cheerleader type, and that's not my deal, so before I like her I'll need to see more from her.
I liked Chase. He also lost his father.
Ben strikes me as someone who is ready to be the cold calculating guy of the group, so he interests me, if only because someone needs to play hard.
Shannon, oh great, another Lafayette LA boy. He will be different from the other young ones in that he got married at 19, married pregnant girlfriend, has three kids to support, and is not from La-la land. Maybe he will have James' social skills.
