LAST EDITED ON 12-16-10 AT 04:30 PM (EST)But Jud is not. I understand that a tie vote would have been more exciting, but why in the world would Fabio want to keep Jane? First: Fabio's only chance of staying in the game is to win ICs -- he knows that -- and Jane has already proven to be his biggest competition in endurance challenges (she really, really shouldn't have shown off on the holding the iron bar over the tile challenge at the merge). Given that the F4 IC is usually endurance, it was his best move to get rid of Jane. Second: keeping Jane & booting Holly would not have guaranteed that Jane would have stayed with him & Dan -- Chase probably could have, and would have, smoothed things over with Jane & it would be Jane/Chase/Sash v. Dan & Fabio instead of Holly/Chase/Sash v. Dan & Fabio -- and, as said above, Jane has a better chance at the ICs than Holly does. Third: If he had kept Jane & Jane stayed with him, he would probably have to turn on her at some point (no one, including Fabio, wants Jane in the finals) and, thus, lose a jury vote. This way Jane isn't blaming him for her going home & he is pretty much guaranteed her jury vote if he makes it to F3. Getting rid of Jane now, in this way, was the best move for Fabio. He wouldn't have been any "safer" if she stayed (ie, he still would need to win every IC in order to get to the F3) and he isn't the one who backstabbed her. And unlike Chase, Fabio was able to keep his mouth shut in the face of Jeff's proding about why the 3 didn't join up. Did you see the jury's reaction to Chase letting the cat out of the bag re: their final plans? Yeah -- Jud isn't going to go there. Chess is more than about what the obvious move is. It is about seeing moves in advance.
