oh boy. I hate to be the one responding to this. LOL. But if you're lurking our boards, I suspect you probably expected as much. So first of all, welcome to posting. This is a great first post, btw. Well thought out.However.
"DiLana: has the stage presence, the voice, the attitude, an exotic South African twang. Will her sniping remarks hurt her chances? No, in the long run, it's hers to lose. She continues to step up to the plate with each performance. Cons: too honest?"
She has the stage presence and the exotic South African twang. Her "stepping up to the plate with each performance" is a matter of opinion. I agree that it's a popular opinion. Also a very popular opinion is one that I share. She hasn't shown us anything new since, well, since week two. Your saying that she is "too honest" is funny. But as you said, you didn't watch the show last night. Her "honesty" was all over the place. I'm not sure if you watched the webisode or not, but her "honesty" was beating the competition down to make herself look better. Or so she thought. Her "honesty" was selling out everybody in the house not named Dilana, Dilana, Dilana. Her "honesty" is bullshit because of the mere fact that she went down the list and attacked everybody. If she'd have said, "I want to strangle Lukas" or "Ryan didn't like the song" I could believe it was a case of "oops, I said too much" honesty. She attacked everybody in that house including her beloved Storm and Magni. And her attack on Ryan after the performance show was unnecessary and distasteful. As he asked her to just leave it at that and leave out the negative, she continued attacking him by telling him she has more fans than he does. This boggles me. I think her ego goes way beyond her abilities. She's insecure and not very smart. Her apologies were weak and insincere. Like a person who only apologizes because they got caught. Not because they are "honestly" sorry. While people tend to believe she is still a frontrunner, I tend to believe she just packed her bags. If for nothing else than telling the band that she doesn't want to share the spotlight. yikes.
"Ryan: Pros: great song stylist, not a bad songwriter or musician. CONS: Cannot see him fronting this band. Others on this forum have mentioned how talented he is in that on a solo album, he played all the instruments in addition to writing and singing the songs. Yep, solo artist (think Trent Reznor) with an optional backing band. I would also like to see him sing one song with SN to be sure of my assessment."
heh. "Others on this forum" would be me. But I was always a big fan of NIN. *shrug* I have no problems with him continuing his solo career if that's what happens. But I also see him fitting with Supernova. They need somebody with loads of talent fronting them. That only leaves five of the six remaining contestants. In case you don't know who I left out, read a few more of my posts or better yet, listen to some of Dilana's "original" material.
"Lukas: PROS: Not a bad singer when he doesn't chew off his words like Colm Wilkinson, the Broadway/London musical stage actor. Has a neat fashion sense. CONS: Petulant, weaselly, doesn't listen to advice well. Quickly pissing TLee and Gilby off (TLee after the Tues performance: "Check please."). Lack of audience interaction (too emo?). Has an annoying habit of strutting around the stage like Howdy Doody on crack."
Please give me an example of him not following advice. And please don't mention "opening his throat" because I'll vomit. I do know that he needs to do that more often. But he has such a beautiful voice when he uses it properly. He's getting there. "Check please" was very much a positive thing. Kind of along the same lines as "Let's get on the bus." Or was that TLee being pissed off as well? I'm not sure where "lack of audience interaction" came from. He's always talking to the crowd. He's always shaking hands and he is always the first person to willingly speak to his fans. (so I hear - I can't be there, unfortunately)
"My apologies to the legions of Lukas fans out there, and I don't care about his childhood tragedies, I personally cannot see how people have kept him around this long. He needs to go, and go quickly...Unless he pulls off a miracle, I cannot see him fronting Supernova"
No apologies necessary. You're entitled to your opinions. Lukas never brought up his childhood tragedies. He said in the beginning that he got into music to stay out of trouble because he was living on the streets. He just wanted the world to know that he is passionate about music and that it has brought him far from nowhere. He hasn't mentioned it since then. I'm not sure why that would be an issue with you. *shrug* Dilana is the one who mentioned his past recently. Which was absolutely not her place to do so.
Just to reiterate, this is not new behaviour for Dilana. This is new editing. MBP loves to stir things up. They all saw Dilana's ego growing enormously and probably decided to showcase that to take our minds off of the hideousness of SN's original song disaster last week. And I love my Lustmuffin so much for pointing out last night that this is not new behaviour. A billion bonus points to Ryan for working that in.
I'm sure that I would stick up for Lukas if this shoe was on his foot and I'm sure I would stick up for Ryan if he was wearing the shoe. That's the reality of reality television. Hell, James is my favorite on Big Brother and I won't watch the show once he's gone. So I'm used to being abused for having my favorites.
