Hartmann isn't a liberal, he is a supposed libertarian, or at least he thinks he is. Personally, I think he is just a media flunkie wank going against whatever it is popular to go against today, it is his schtick. But he doesn't have what it takes to be a comedian.

Seriously, no, I don't think the sweeping generalizations on conservatives came first. I think the disreputable Reagan era movement to redefine liberals came first, and I still refuse to be defined by the knuckle-dragging ilk, I am a liberal on my own terms not defined by the other side.
