Well, Nigel certainly has been more open this year about how he likes to control things and shape the top 10, etc.
I think that there may be more than once dance card for what they choose, but I think that they probably only put two and two styles that are sufficiently similar that they are essentially the same routine. This way, they can keep saying 'random' even though it's not.

Didn't see the difference between that and a fast waltz. I like to see more of a difference, to Tony. They looked effortless had a class and and elegance. Kayla, never disappoint anyone. Your movement quality is much better. you have tremendous lines and taking it to another level and growing by leaps and bounds. Fabulous.
Debbie. This is an unexpected surprise. Neither one of you would have asked for this partner. Evan you handled your big woman baby. She was your woman I don't care what kind of Waltz it was. You throw her around, I have to say Kayla when we were picking the top twenty like white lightening. We nicknamed you Gene Kelly, will the audience catch on to you. I enjoyed it Thank you.

I thought that was really great. Kayla was stunning in that dress and I was very impressed by Evan's lifts. There was one reverse lift that was really outstanding. (I say reverse lift. It was when Evan used the arm that was closest to Kayla to lift her, which should have thrown them off balance.)

Nigel. Summed up what this routine is supposed to be. I'm not sure the dancing was as good. I'm sorry I feel that. Kupono you didn't carry the strength, the strongest the male has to be, down into the floor, all up in the air. You lost me half way through. Not sure about the wig, Randi. I know why you did that the chemistry was lost. Didn't work as a couple or dancers. Somethings were done well, but didn't feel authentic.
Mary. It is hard for everybody tonight. Some rise to the challenge and this is a not for me. Very dynamic routine. Had everything in it. Didn't believe the wig the dancing or the chemistry. From a deep place and strength about life and death and going for it and I did not believe this. I didn't believe it. Didn't really work. Randi was there a little bit more than Kupono this will not cut it. If you get to stay you have to bring it. The song was more powerful than the dancing.
Debbie. Hard not to agree. I think the matter of trust was not there. There was a bit of awkwardness. You executed many things well you needed more time and you didn't have it.

I enjoyed that quite a bit. I, too, would look at Evan and wonder if he would mess it up. I've got to look at it again but I'd say Ade had the most fluid moves going. All the others seemed a little stiff in the shoulders (at least in this one part that I noticed).
One another thing is that it seems that almost all of these guys are pretty athletic. Evan and someone else started with standing back flips and it just kept going. In fact, Evan's done a lot of athletic moves in his dances. More so than he's being given credit for.
The other thing that's nice about this dance is it helps show just how vast a continent Africa is and how you can't pigeon hole "African jazz" and have a picture of what it will look like. This was closer to something I saw at a show of West African music once. The Paso Doble was probably the weakest dance and they didn't do too bad.
Jason and Jeanine are my new favorite couple - WOWSER!
