I've heard she guessed DNA and I have also heard she guessed "You (ewe) are safe" I think she was wrong with both, but you are safe is closer than DNA (its just too obscure). My guess is "you are the new head of household" because it starts with you and it hints at what the prize is since the hg's don't know

I understood that there would be three clues, one a week on Thursday, until someone got it right. Also, that if someone guessed, and guessed right, they would be told that it was right and only they would know it. And that if they guessed and guessed wrong, they were out of the running for it.

I agree with the "ewe"...popped into my mind immediately. But I CAN'T IMAGINE ANYONE making a guess after the first clue!! Why on earth did Danielle do that? Did she really think it was DNA, or was she saying that to try to throw the others off of "ewe"? I hope she's lying about having guessed already...otherwise my opinion of her just went into the toilet.

>>DNA was the name of season five<<I understand that -- but that is not a phrase common to Big Brother -- it was the tagline of one season. Plus, past BB puzzles like this have had clues more like crossword puzzle things -- Big Apple...female sheep. Not something that was a 'current event' years ago. (Dolly the cloned sheep.) I think all of them that decided to guess after only one clue are morons.

Fly for the movie in which DNA was used to exhange the fly and person to different spots only to ahve it end up with the body of the human and the ehad of the fly and vice versa.

LAST EDITED ON 08-11-06 AT 08:15 PM (EST)LAST EDITED ON 08-11-06 AT 08:15 PM (EST) According to the CBS website, the C d'E is as follows: "Julie then announces a new twist that puts the game on a whole new level: the Coup d’Etat. Whoever wins this power will have the ability to overthrow the HoH and replace their nominations on the spot at any of the next three evictions. The Coup d’Etat has an added twist, though, as only the winning HouseGuest will know what they have won, and the power will remain secret until it is used. " So, If Dani guessed right, she would have been told that she won, and what she won. So if the power is to remain secret, I don't understand how you think the HG will know "what she won". CBS has only said the HG would know that they had one, but what it is remains a secret until it is used.

Dont you think that Dani would want her people to THINk that she had won it so that they will stop trying to guess leaving the window open for her to figure it out w/o her minions trying to win it over her. If someone thinks that their alliance member has it they might not try to guess it.

Hi, I think Dani got it right with the DNA "Do Not Assume". It had to be fairly tough or everyone would get it. Dolly was first cloned sheep, dealing with DNA, and "Do Not Assume" was the official description of one of the seasons. Also, the fly clue: "The Fly" was a movie starring Jeff Goldblum: he was a scientist and dealt with DNA and ended up making a superfly or he turned into a fly or something, anyway: it also deals with DNA.

I don't think the fly is a clue either. The sheep was so obvious there was no way they could miss it and it was presented to all of the houseguests. I think all the clues will be presented this way so it is obvious to everyone that it is a clue and it can't be hidden.

LAST EDITED ON 08-11-06 AT 10:19 PM (EST)Good questions, Ahtum.. Hmmmmm.... ramifications to consider..... According to CBS, the winner of the C d'E "...will have the ability to overthrow the HoH and replace their nominations on the spot at any of the next three evictions." I would assume that the eviction vote would be held immediately thereafter. I like this because the strategies, deals, and manipulations that led to the initial noms. would be rendered ineffective, secret alliances might be exposed in the so doing (possibly), and another layer of fustration would be added to an already tense situation. There should be some real stomping and raging in response. If this is how it goes, then this round of noms/eviction will be made with only a few moments available for deals or manipulations. What would Will be able to pull off under those circumstances? Will he prepare for this eventuality? I'd like to see that happen once in a while, just for fun and to shake things up.

The way I >understand the Coup, the holder >can use it for the >next 3 evcitions. I'd hang >on to it, unless I >was nominated. Definitions of overthrow on the Web: An Overthrow or Coup is a term referring to a change in government, whereby a leader or party is forced from power, often through the use of force. Famous overthrows have included the coup in the Soviet Union in the early 1990's, or of the Taliban regime in Afghanistan en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Overthrow
Since Julie said the following: "...will have the ability to overthrow the HoH and replace their nominations on the spot at any of the next three evictions." I will stand by what I said that the winner will be able to overthrow (replace the HOH. And it makes sense because that is what a coup is: overtaking the leaders of said government. In this case the government is the house and the leader is, for now, Jani.

I agree that the phrase should require all the clues before you can be pretty sure you're right. It would seem set up for people who are either really lucky or patient enough not to blow the guess. So the sheep should be a word, not the whole concept. Dolly is the whole concept -- DNA. Ewe is a word. Besides, in picture puzzle word games like the classic "Concentration" -- EWE was a common common clue that every player knew. It didn't always mean YOU, could also mean "U" sound like Ewe phoria, but anytime a sheep came up it was SOP to call it "U." Just like an AWL was pictured to mean all and every player got to know that symbol, whether they ever used an awl in their life. Maybe these guys are too young to know that game? I don't want Danielle to get it so I hope she's just bluffing. EWE R SAFE is perfect as they love to have a riddle answer that describes what it is you just won.

70. "Transcript from the show" |
I got this from another site. With what Julie told the audience it seems the winner would know right away, but from what she told the houseguest, it sounds like they won't know until the show next Thursday. But they have to find out before the show because the winner might not want to use it then and how would Julie tell them privately? It has to happen before the votes and the only one she'll talk privately with is Jani. I think they will tell the winner either on Thursday before the show or after all the clues are revealed because you know there is no way most of these people would keep it quiet if they won. To the viewers We are about to tell the hg's about a BB first.
One hg could win an extraordinary power... we call it the coupt d'etat, and here is how it works. In any of the next 3 evictions episodes, the winner of the coup d'etat will have the ability to overthrow the HOH and replace nominations on the spot right before the voting takes place. But the twist is...that no one except the winner of this power will know what it is until the power is used. Who will win it? Be sure to tune in Sunday and Tuesday at 8:00 pm to watch the hg's compete for this unique privilege. And I will be back one week from tonight to reveal who has won the coup d'etat and to find out if it will be used. You can also see this twist play out by logging on to cbs.com tru the live feeds. Right now let's go out to the BY and reveal the news to the hg's. To the houseguests "I have an announcement to make. Beginning tonight, there is a *new* power up for grabs that could completely change the course of the game. But, only the person who wins it will know what it is and it will remain a secret to everyone until it is used. Here's how you can win this power: Over the next few days, you'll be given clues to a well-known phrase that applies to the Big Brother game. Once you think you know what the phrase is, you will disclose your answer in the privacy of the Diary Room. The first person to answer correctly will win this power and could make Big Brother history by shaking up the game like never before. But, be careful. You will only have one chance to give your answer so please be 100% sure. The winner will find out who they are and just exactly what this special power is one week from tonight. Everyone, your first clue is waiting for you in the house....."

Now my posts need translations? OMG. Well, thank you nailbone. Hasn't anyone ever seen or played Concentration? Classic game show where you match pairs on a board to uncover pictures that form a phrase?A picture of a sheep was used in just about every show to represent EWE = YOU or the U sound. Same as an EYE = I and an OAR = OR From the above Juliespeak to HG's: The winner will find out who they are and just exactly what this special power is one week from tonight. only the person who wins it will know what it is and it will remain a secret to everyone until it is used Totally contradictory, so guess I'll just wait and see.

74. "So what?" |
LAST EDITED ON 08-13-06 AT 05:43 PM (EST) It's Julie the bobble-head clank-butt that needs to be translated.
It was a temp job on a very iffy show when it began, so maybe they gave the host job to the EP's girlfriend. Or, she and LM hooked up after she got the job. She probably signed on for a minimum contract then, and as the show's popularity slowly grew, she found herself lucked into a pretty good spot. Good luck and more power to her. I'm not sure how she got the Early show gig, but being the LM's squeeze probably didn't hurt there either. Bot, so what? I have no knowledge of what circles LM and his ex-wife are in, but in some show-biz circles infidelity, divorce, trophy wives, trophy husbands, and multiple ex-wives are the norm. Again, So what? Luck happens, good and bad, to all of us. She's a great target for lampooning, and we all have a great time with her on the "Be the Hamster" thread, but the vicious personal attacks without humor attached are a little bit misplaced, and would, imo, seem to say more about the attacker than it would say about her. But, all that having been said, I'd do her!. Illiterate clank-butt bobble-headedness and all.

LAST EDITED ON 08-13-06 AT 12:01 PM (EST)So they only get 3 clues, the first two being: 1. A sheep with a pink bow 2. A spool of thread with a needle 3. Guesses that according to houseguests that have been made: Dani- DNA Do Not Assume Erika- same as Dani's (dumbbutt) George- Ewe expect the unexpected James- Pull the wool over my eyes (or something like that) Howie- Wolf in sheeps clothing the above are paraphrases and just based on conversations in the house. whether they are accurate or not can't be verified until DR's. Still to guess: Will Boogie Janelle Marci You Reap What You Sow is being bandied about by Will and Boogie but I think all will ring in right after 3rd clue. And if it is "you reap what you sow" what do you think the third clue will be? With the needle thread I think Dani and Erika are wrong. Also James and I'm not even going to mention George. edit to change: So to Sew to Sow

She asked me if there was importance about the sheep being live versus stuffed. Could that point to a phrase from a Thursday related show? As for the second clue, Big Brother has the purple fabric under it for a reason. Purple is a sign of royalty as in a leader. I believe the clues are pointing to the HoH and the phrase, "You are the new HoH."

That's what popped into my head also. Went to hamsterwatch to actually see the clue and there was a pic of the needle and it being threaded. In other words the "eye" was apparent. So it could be "eye" as in "ewe" and "eye" You and I something something? If it is indeed just the first letters as in "U" and "I" the third letter for this group has to be "D" as in "DUI." They do love the bubbly don't they? Guess they think being wasted will help them think and play the game?

Piggybacking on what's been said before by others of a higher genius level than I. HA!Ewe and eye.................... Eye ............... ewe? Trying to connect those two words to something *commonly* said in the BB house = Coup d'Etat. I think the third clue will represent a verb, as in, "I safe/save you." Or "(Can) I (talk) to you?" Or possibly a predicate noun. (You and I (are) safe.) Can't wait for the third clue. Everyone is entitled to my opinion.

Actually, what she said (per the transcript and Sunday's show) "was you'll be given clues to a well-known phrase that applies to the Big Brother game "

LAST EDITED ON 08-13-06 AT 04:50 PM (EST)Wild ass guessing here... If the third clue is a scythe ie: the tool of the grim reaper, then that would make a perfect three clue combo with "ewe" and "sew" to make "you reap what you sow". Can anyone else thing of a single item that would inspire the word "reap"?

>I agree with You (ewe), that >was fairly obvious. I >think that the second clue >may be more than one >word. Such as >"I" (eye of the needle). > But what about the >way they set up the >spool of thread with a >purple blanket under the spool >and needle. Like....stitch or >stitch on, which could be >close to eviction. > >I think the phrase is "I >nominate you for eviction" > >The purple stands for "Loyalty" one of the themes this year. Now "You reap what you sow" is just not a common phrase. But you put the clues together ... "ewe" "eye" and "Loyalty" and you have: I trust you. That's my guess right now.

101. "Coup question" |
Hi guys. I'm a lurker and wanted to thank you all for the unbelievable attention to detail you give when posting information. I do have a question about this Coup d'Etat thing and was hoping one of you live feeders can answer for me. How did Danielle, James, Erika and George react to the fact that there was more than one clue? I'm assuming they guessed incorrectly in their haste to win the "ultimate prize." Have they come to the realization that they "rang in too quickly" with their answers? Again, thanks for the updates and info. Keep up the great work.

I think the next clue will be a toy ship, or clams, or a starfish, or basically anything having to do with the "sea". What simple phrase could have more to do with Big Brother than "I see you."

Hmmm... now let's see if he uses it. He and Will are supposedly flying under the radar and throwing comps. Interesting. Plus, if he did get it, let's see if he can keep it secret. Seems he can't wipe his own butt without Will's input.

Hey...thats great that Boogie won!! GO CT. Better than that jerk Howie winning. But I gotta say that I'm let down by the secret pharse. I thought it was a pharse that was used in the show. I think its kinda strange that the powers that be showed all three clues pretty quick. I kinda makes you think that maybe they were getting kinda worried that no-one would get it...

to correct my first message. I don't believe it has been confirmed by BB that Boogie got the Coup. He said they were going to give him more information on Thursday, but he could be lieing. Everyone believes that he has it and are waiting to see what happens on Thursday.

With the knowledge that Mike "Boogie" won the coup with the phrase (phonetically spelled): Ewe reap(er) what ewe sew. Ohterwise known as: You reap what you sow. Now comes the speculation about when and how Boogie will use his newfound power.
First off, does he know exactly what he now can do? We've got conflicting information about that due to Chenbot telling us one thing and the hamsters another. She told us they'd know it when they got it, but she told the hamsters that all will be revealed on Thursday's live eviction show. Secondly, when and how is he going to use it? He doesn't need to do it this week, because he's in no danger of going home and neither is Will..... Next week, once it's fully explained to them, he probably doesn't have to worry about the HoH, unless he wants to guarantee that he won't have to use it untill he will lose it. Of course, if next week's HoH puts up CT....... (it would probably be a death wish, but it's a sure way to get him to use it so he can't use it the third week...) Of course, if the hamster find out the full power of the Coup, they will probably bow down to the CT's and try to get them to use it to favor them, and against their enemies.......(The sooner he uses it the worse for Boogie, probably)

Congrats to Boogie. He is the only smart one in the house. Why Danielle would be so confident that she neailed the phrase after only one clue is mind numbing. What was she thinking? And Erika is even dumber. Why would she go after one clue and guess the exact same thing that Danielle guessed. Just goes to show that only Chilltown knows what they are doing. Some all-stars we have here.

From what I read Boogie said last night he won't know what the power is until the live show. He told Will and somebody else that he'll be called into the DR during the show on Thursday.According to Julie he can use it on Thursday or save it for either of the next two evictions and it will be done right before voting. So I guess he can say he has decided to nominate two other people and then they vote on his nominations. Can Boogie think that fast? I wonder if he could nominate Jani even though she is HOH or Danielle since she won the veto. We'll have to wait. From what I said in an earlier post lets assume it is true that he'll be called in Thursday during the show and somehow BB expected them to keep their guesses a secret. Didn't Julie says nobody will know what the power is or who has it until it is used? So how would they get Boogie in the DR without everyone knowing he won? They could call him in first to vote and if he changes nominations he'll go back out and pick them. But what if he was nominated? He wouldn't vote then and Julie would have no need to talk to him privately.
Sorry, but these things bug me.

No Winner of CdE? "I think Boogie got the phrase wrong. There were THREE clues given out. I think, therefore, that there are THREE parts of the phrase: I think the phrase they are looking for is -- EWE and EYE til THE END. Having the Grim Reaper represent "reap" is way too obvious. I'm thinking that the sheep leads to EWE, the needle leads to EYE, and the Grim Reaper signals death, or THE END. I think the Coup d'Etat is still up for grabs." - Kevin Could be interesting, I hope this is true!!!

Jules made it clearly ONLY the winner will know what the power is and that he won right? With that said does she mean only the winner will know or only the winner CAN know. We know that Boogie will tell Will - is he allowed to tell anyone or is there some type of stiulation that the winner can not tell anyone (how the heck could that work?).

128. "RE: You reap what you sow" |
LAST EDITED ON 08-15-06 AT 10:10 AM (EST)I found this when I did a google on the phrase. With all the decos on the walls of this BB house does anyone else think that this phrase may be the one to represent what BB is trying to say this year. I know it is a BIBLE verse, but Big Brother in the book 1984 was playing GOD, wasn't he? I could also be reaching far on this one. I am not a Boogie fan so I am not sure why I am trying to make his answer right "YOU REAP WHAT YOU SOW." "Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap." (Galatians 6 KJV) 8The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. 9Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. –Galatians 6-9 (NIV) This means-- A persons actions all have consequences. Good actions result in good consequences, and bad actions result in bad consequences.
