That was fun.Play NICE. Nigel. Two little stars of this season. Personalities coming out. I am finally getting it. Janette you are wonderful. Ellen. I can do that. Seriously it was hard hitting and fullbodied (the wine I had). Y'all were amazing. Mary. It was a lot of fun, this is way out there and you did a really good job. Evan, You could have been a little bit rougher, but you were getting there. You didn't, the athleticism and the synchronization and the lifting, spot on. Nigel puts hand on her mouth and barks at Nigel. Sit on your degree or something. Janette you can't take a wrong step. Mia. I'm going to say for Evan I think you made a step in the right direction, emotionally and character wise, you are a great stylist with this little mush face. That is the thing because you are so adorable you will never be a dark freakish dancer that Sonya, wasn't my favorite. Janette you are my favorite this season.

Good thing they have another dance, egad this is going on forever and ever.Nigel. That was an extremely tough routine, but it was so demanding as slow as it was. It was like pulling teeth, for insomniacs. It is controlled power and with that slowness you have to be under such control and I didn't get as much of the top 8 and two of my favorites, a little disappointed. Ellen. I disagree with Nigel (crowd goes wild) Watching the two of you dance reminds me of (babbling) Vat is the hold up. You two are fantastic. Mary. It is true it was slow waltz, probably the slowest one. It takes unbelievable control. Any professional would have a tough time with that tempo, you were respectable. There are some things I'd like to see a lot stronger. I would love to scream, respectable. Mia. I'm going to say you weren't dreaming about birds and bunnies it would have been better. Because of the training I expected the space and the breath to be magical. Taken to another place. So many hiccups and stuck moments that it didn't take me away. It lacked, especially from the two of you.

Oh wait, this a Latin version of that Usher song.Liked him in this better than her, but good. Nigel. Great routine, lot of things you could show off with. Melissa you don't turn out a little too much. A lot of good sexy moves. Don't purse your lips when you are trying to be sexy. Let the movement do it. Ade great stature. Tall guy. It's there. You could have sizzled a little bit more. Ellen. I have a question, are you two carpenters, because you nailed it. I loved it. It was great. Mary. I thought the execution of the material was nailed, however, everything in slow motion, give us more time to focus on technique. Ade, your bum was perched up so high and need to drop it into the floor. The weight is not right. Not grounded and hard hitting. Why the feet were sliding. Melissa when not too turned out they were too turned in. When you put too much effort it goes away and it was just ateen bit below what I expected. Mia. Ade, I think that was your worst performance. Kind of thrown all over the place, not getting down and dirty. Your movement is so thick it needed to get in there more. Melissa I understand breaking down the alignment, you did an excellent job.

You know what what you bring to the stage, not a lot of people bring that Evan. We love you. I don't know if I want to see him be sexy. You did it. You did it with a Zoolander face. *sniff*Nigel. I think that has just showed me why I love dance so much because it can express so many emotions without use of words. I don't know as a choreographer where you get strength from to do a piece like this. If this isn't nominated next year I will be surprised. I think I have witnessed one of the most memorable routines. Touching and you said Melissa you can't be judged on your steps, you are right, I can't think of a better couple to have danced it. Ade your strength is incredible and allowed Melissa to do the jumps. Melissa your maturity allowed you to cary it off, incredible. Ellen. I've been wanting to come see a taping live, the fact I am here this day, I am privileged I got to witness that the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. Mary. This is taking myself back to a scary place. The fact you guys danced it so beautifully. Thank Tyce and being able to effect millions of people with the gift of love and hope. That vertical lift you made that look so effortless. Melissa in trusting Ade you just flew into his arms with full trust. Mia. What an important piece of work. In tears. how many people have known people to fight it or not fight it and the journey you go on and that is the hardest thing and always about you being OK. I wish I had the strength you had in this piece for my Daddy. Melissa you are an angel you're already there. Not much more I can say but a perfect portrait, thank you so much Tyce Ade and Melissa.

That song makes me cry just hearing it. Tyce's choreography on this was spectacular. It was the best piece I have ever seen on this show. Nobody else from this season could have done that. I'm glad it was them. This soared easily to the top of my favorite performances list. wow. Thank you, Tyce.

The addiction piece hit a different emotion for me than this one. Same amount of emotion, just a different one.... The addiction piece was spooky, dark and controlling. Kayla was fighting Kupono and he would not let her go until she gave in. This one had more anger and a "why me" feeling to it... and support - Ade was supporting the battle that Melissa was facing.

Now a question:
If they didn't explain the dance and the story behind it before they danced, would you have any idea what story the dance was trying to tell?It depends on the choreography and how well the dancers interpret the choreo and the music. Melissa and Ade's Tyce Contemporary dance? Absolutely understood the story purely from how they danced. There was emotion, frustration, anger, fear, vulnerability and at the end, hope. Didn't need the explanation. Contrast that with Melissa and Ade's cha cha cha. That was just steps. I think sometimes the choreographers tell a story in order to get you in the right frame of mind for the dance but a really well danced program evokes emotion in the watcher regardless. So you can attach that emotion to a specific story, or you can tell a story through dance and then relate what you feel to a more concrete example, using words, and say, yeah, it's kinda like that.

And sometimes you get the absolute perfect routine with the perfect song (albeit the wrong version of said song), the perfect choreographer and the perfect couple to dance it and you get what we got last night... a bunch of people reaching for Kleenex and a hug left with a truly memorable, emotional and beautiful piece of work.

Katee and Will's pas de deux last year was like that for me. Perfect couple, routine, song (wrong version), choreography = emotional and powerful routine.

I think this dance might have been meant for F4 with Nigel thinking they would be there, but when both of them were in b4 last week, they moved it up...bc Melissa shd have been with Jason and Kayla with Ade no need for MelAde to be together again so soon and we know it's not random

gah. I know most don't share my Melissa love so I wasn't totally surprised to see her in the bottom. But Ade anywhere near the bottom of anything (unless it's something that I won't get into right now) is baffling to me. I can't decide who my true favorite is this season but I can tell you it's one of those two. They're beautiful dancers and they've been magnificent together.

Interesting thought that hadn't crossed my mind. Nobody else could have done that like they did. It was definitely meant for them. I wonder how long Tyce had been working on that piece or when the idea came to him? I've always wondered about that with this show. When do they come up with their ideas and put them together?
