"Casting Call in New Orleans"
Hello. Hola. Bonjour. I just wanted to share my experience and opinions on the casting call here in New Orleans. First of all, there weren't as many people here as everyone anticipated. I was number 131 and was sent in with a group of, roughly, 14 others.

For the most part everyone was dressed professionally with the exception of a few whose goal was to draw attention to themselves. Funny thing is that amongst a crowd of black suited professionals, beautiful blondes and brunettes, talented professionals, and few clowns, no one seemed to stand out. The crowd was diverse...from sales and marketing pros like myself to lawyers, radio personalities, business owners, etc. To be honest, there was an enormous amount of talent present.

There were all types of personalities with various skils that would be both entertaining and profitable. However, I have to wonder HOW they can possibly choose with all of the available, wonderful, successful, talent that they are seeing nationwide, just a handful for the semi-finals and then select only 16 from that grouping.

We heard that the producers were looking for someone different, something that stands out. We heard that looks and mutliple degrees weren't necessarily the determining factors. But...I have to wonder in a group of 15 ( let alone the thousands upon thousands who sent in videos and attended the casting calls) HOW ANYONE could stand out. We all had a discussion on a subject for 10 or 15 minutes as a group. That was it.

I, being the aggressive, determined, dynamic, sales personality that I am, brought a resume and more ( I can't give away all my secrets) and managed to gain a little bit of interest from the producer who interviewed us, but even still...I don't know that anyone could evaluate my potential in that amount of time.

I'm very successful. I have already been in contact with multi-billion dollar companies through an advertising agency I worked for. I have the numbers to back up my sales ability and...I just so happen to be a very attractive, petit, brunette with big brownish-green eyes and long, dark, flowing hair, that was bit mussed from standing in the wind for three hours.

However, I would be almost willing to bet that in 10-15 minutes all someone will notice is your appearance and whether or not you are outgoing. I don't mean to make any false claims that the producers are biased. They APPEAR to have a pretty good mix on Survivor, but how on earth can you really choose out of that many applicants? FAIRLY. I have to wonder if the best of the best is really making it to the show. Maybe they should have a show for different regions like The APPRENTICE 2 -New Orleans-semi-finalists and The Apprentice 2-Omaha-semi-finalists, you know etc, etc. and pick winners from the regions culminating in the The Apprentice 2-Trump Tower? Seems it would end with a more diverse group of competitors. Yes, it would cost money. But, the show seems to be doing well, so why not? I think they could pull in even more ratings. HMMMMMMM.

Anybody?

Im not sure if you were just trying to be amusing or what. Obviously, when you are typing words online you can't always get a sense of someone's personality or intentions, but I just wanted to set the record straight on a couple of suggestions that you made about my post.

First of all, I was not posting because I thought that a producer or a friend of a producer would have the time or waste the time he does have reading through the post of one of many websites that discuss The Apprentice and/or the casting call.
The reason I posted is because I thought that the way they handled the casting call was unsual or at least not what I expected. I was curious to see what everyone else thought. I like people. I'm a people person. I don't think I know everything, not even close. Actually, you can learn a lot by listening to others and sharing information and points of view. Imagine that...( Sorry, I know that last was smart-alecky and unnecessary, but I just couldn't resist )

Anyway, It really doesn't offend me what you said. You are entitled to your opinion. Although, I would advise against judging other people in general ( and particularly when you don't even know them) and that's not my opinion that's God's rule.

Oh, and you said you were joking. "Alrighty then." I like to kid around quite a bit myself. I have a sarcastic sense of humor, think David Letterman.

It's interesting, though, that you would "come on" to someone just based on a post. HMMMMMMM. Are we a bit desperate? Searching posts for women. Just kidding. hehehheheh. Touche.

But seriously, I hope everyone reading this a has a great day.

Yes, you have figured me out, I'm desperate! I had considered referring to it as a "faux come on", but I didn't want to risk further offending Bebo. But, take it anyway you like.

Interesting. It's amazing how many business-like people there are out there to do the show.

What I heard about the show is that they usually pick the most successful, dynamic types, so I think that's definitely a step in the right direction for you!

Hi Mizz Eve. All we heard (and we have no documentation or verification from the producers as to whether or not this is true) is that they will call whoever they want to meet with again. Of course, they will still be holding casting calls until tomorrow in other locations. So nobody who was at our particular casting call seems to be sure how the process works.

But...It is a longshot for any of us. Something akin to winning the lottery considering how many people are auditioning. I just think it's going to be partly luck, partly who you know, and maybe even God's will.

We'll see. But, I know that I personally will not give up. "...try and try again"

I in no way mean to offend you by this, but I'm sincerely curious.... why do you want to be on The Apprentice? You've seen what editing can do, aren't you afraid that you may come off horribly? What lessons have you learned from Apprentice I that will help you be a better player in Apprentice II? How would you handle a teammates like Omarosa or Sam? Would you go with the UTR strategy, or would you try to outshine the others? Have you read Art of the Deal?

I really do hope that you're selected

11. "RE: Casting Call in New Orleans"
Mizz Eve. Hello again. It doesn't offend me if you have an opinion. I'm not wearing my heart on my sleeve. At least not about The Apprentice anyway. Honestly, I really don't compare myself to those who have already played, because I would do my personal best to win. Which, might not be anything like the way the played. I have the Art of the Deal and I am reading it. I guess I'm about half way through.

I don't care how they edit it. I know who I am. Having said that I do realize that "reality tv" is not truly "reality." Unfortunately, in the world we live in everything comes down to the bottom line. ( If only everyone would notice the butterflies )
But anyway....

It's just that, first of all, I'm a "ham." I love attention. Who doesn't? Who wouldn't want their 15 minutes of fame? Aside from that, although I grew up with more than I needed and I'm well versed and well traveled, I did not have the advantage of family money or an Ivy League education. I have worked my way up to a full blown marketing position by my own work and my own choices. I have already had to play in the big leagues as a marketing consultant for an advertising agency....and was successful. I have proven my abilities time and time again and have received very little recognition for it. ...and yet I have the numbers to back up what I'm saying. So...I just want a shot at a dream.

I'm tired of doing all the ground work, making other people's bank accounts fat, taking all the heat and succeeding anyway, and having to scrape by while my bosses tell me about how great it is to eat at Ruth's Chris twice a week.

I'm tired of making other people's money. So...the answer is I want to compete because I feel like I'm a creative, positive, talent and would like a shot at a dream job.

Well, welcome to The Apprentice boards, Center of Attn. Good luck to you, I am hoping that you will be called back so that we can have some one to give us the continuing sage of auditioning.

I have absoultely NOTHING to do with The Apprentice, or with television at all, but I have worked in an occupation where it was necessary to regularly review about 10,000 applications and quickly whittle them down to a Final 100 or so.

As you may expect, the first review is done very quickly and is merely to identify any candidates that "pop" out -- looks, resume, etc., sure -- but mainly to eliminate.

There is probably no final defining criteria -- you are competing against all the others who have submitted applications for TA2.

The final choices were based on DIVERSITY. Based on what we saw in AP1, I think this is the factor here too. Age, gender, race, education level, area of the country one lives in, occupation, training, etc. etc. If someone of a similiar gender, age and 'look' as you is chosen, you have probably just been eliminated by default. Yes, you will be skipped over for someone perhaps less well accomplished in your same field but is a different gender or 'look', etc. If someone in your profession gets chosen, that hurts your chances. Your college or degree, your hometown or regional accent, ouch! You're a goner.

I would love to hear that you have been chosen, but don't take it personal if you are not. When competing against such a large field, there is so much LUCK involved, as your outcome is so dependent on who else may have chosen to submit an application also.

They covered the casting call for AP2 here in Portland on the local news (I think the weather guy did some reports on location ).

It was pretty funny, but the first two guys in line were not interested in being on the show, they were hoping to sell their places to the highest bidders. They were offering the top spot for $100 and up. I never heard what it went for, if anyone even took them up on the offer. It makes you wonder if it would make any sort of a difference.

Very interesting and quite similar to my experience at the auditions in Cincinnati yesterday. I totally agree with you about how anyone can find out much about a person in such little time. I was thinking the same thing maybe the producer is bias, on our very debatable topic of "bush or kerry" if the producer doesnt like what someone has to say because it may offend them they have the ultimate word on who gets called back.

Aside from all that they did not even take our photos or resume,(when the application initially said to include all that),,they only took our 1 page application and signed discolsure. At the end of our debate they asked one person to stay back and talk for a sec,,,my thought are they have no intentions of calling anyone back, and they guy in my group that they asked to have a word with was the one they were interested in and wanted him to come back for a second interview and were actually eliminating people on the spot if they didnt like what they saw.

Im thinking this because in a couple days if they decide to call anyone back how are they going to rememebr that person after seeing hundreds without at least a pic and resume, let alone just a one page application with a couple questions on it, it only makes sense, i dont think they call anyone back, and make the cuts on the spot without people even knowing it,,,who knows those are my thoughts, other than that it was a great place to network and meet some very good people that im sure i will be in touch with again.
