"American Idol Critique List, v.2.4"
Wow.....a pretty painful week, I knew it would be, though....I can only hope, for the Idols' sake, that FOX pulls a late April Fool's Joke on the Idols and doesn't eliminate someone tomorrow night...sounds like something FOX would do, being the biggest whore of all networks.....how about our guest judge, Verdine? I am going to keep quiet, because I cannot think of a single word or group of words to describe him.

1. Ruben Studdard - Ruben's stock is rising...he's been my favorite from the beginning.....RUUUUUBEEEEEN!!!!

2. Kimberley Locke - Kim's stock is rising as well....please just go back to straight hair, though, lol....I think her performance tonight rivalled Kelly Clarkson's rendition of the same song, and I am continuing with my prophecy that she'll be in the top four before this thing is over with.

3. Clay Aiken - I was waiting for Simon to say "April Fools!", but I guess he really is somewhat demented....Clay is the top dawg in this competition, but he is slightly losing the big lead he once had.

4. Kimberly Caldwell - I don't know what the judges were thinking tonight with her....personally, I heard a great performance....she is growing fast on me, it's not like she can't sing, she just is well....she seems lazy to me, doesn't like to bring out her true ability very often...but when she does, she is stellar...she's the bad girl of the competition, so she'll be around for awhile...I thought she was gonna punch out Paula tonight.

5. Trenyce - I liked her....maybe it's her horrible attitude off camera that is dropping her.....I'm still a bit scarred by her performance last week, but the thing is....she needs to back off on the Whitney stuff, the first time was good but it will wear soon.

6. Carmen Rasmusen - One of her best performances to date...thank goodness she extended her hair, she looks much better....she is slowly growing on me, she is going to be around for a little longer.

7. Joshua Gracin - I liked it...he just doesn't fit this genre....hopefully he can bow out peacefully if he gets called up...I guess he got punished with Disco this week because he had an easy country performance last week.

8. Rickey Smith - A painful song to sing...Rickey can sing, I just didn't like the way the song sounded...I think Rickey has a gigantic X on his forehead this week, and because I know he can sing in other genres much better, my votes will go to Rickey tonight since there's no chance of getting in for others....

And now, for the totals after four weeks of competition......average rank beside the name...

1. Ruben & Clay (2)
3. Kim Locke (4.75)
4. Kim C. & Trenyce (5.5)
6. Josh (5.75)
7. Rickey (6.25)
8. Carmen (9)

1. "RE: American Idol Critique List, v.2.4"
This competition is getting more and more like a karaoke showcase. Blech. At least the guest judge had some balls tonight.

Here's the summary, for what it's worth....

1. Clay Aiken (4) - Utterly flawless. He's right back where he belongs. He so deserves to win. He's got style, he's got grace, he's got plucked eyebrows and a chimpish face. I'm still not a huge fan of his showmanship, but when you're the biggest fish in the pond, you're the biggest fish in the pond.

2. Kim Locke (3) - Well the beginning was full-body-shuddering horrible. Gut-wrenching awful. Then, sixteen seconds later, it took off and soared. The delivery was powerful, the presence was phenomenal, and it was just good after that. Very impressive. She's safe.

3. Carmen Rasmussen (5) - Almost flawlessly pitched performance for once. I initially hated her - but her confidence is growing, and her stage presence tonight was great. She was grossly underrated by all the judges. This was by far her best performance. Admittedly, her backing vocalshelped her harmonize into the pitch, but it was good - especially after Rickey.

4. Ruben Studdard (7) - Change your freaking clothes already. It was practically perfect technically, but not stunning. It was just what I had expected - which doesn't say too terribly much. And he's just so unsexy. But he was way above the others tonight..which is saying nothing. I really hate that I KNOW he has the best voice in the competition, yet week after week, he just gives lackluster performances. Clay can get away with the "greatness is easy as pie" schtick, buddy - YOU need to sweat for it.

5. Trenyce (2) - Another case of a slight overpowering of backup vocals, which really covered up her little pitch indescretions. The clapping was a little un-divaish. But she shines, sparkles, and snaps. Really, though not a great performance. The SONG was probably among the most appealing of tonight's selections, but she realy didn't do it that well.

6. Kimberly Caldwell (6) - I LOVE "Knock On Wood" - possibly my all-time favorite disco song. And she really did a very decent job - the best part was the way she held the sexiness at the end of the refrain. However, the beginning of the chorus didn't slam the way it should. And the verses were deivered as if she knew all the words but didn't understand them. Her range is still really stunted. And her stage presence is still very perofrming monkey-ish, which gets more obvious from week to week. And factor in that I'm just getting tired of her. Can you imagine listening to a whole CD of her? Yawnsville.

7. Josh Gracin (9) - If disco wasn't dead before, it sure is now. Please, for the love of God, get the wickedness away. What a lame-o. Who votes for this dud?

8. Rickey Smith (1) - Wow, that was really awful. Holy crap. Awful. What the hell was that? It was awful! My God, I've never heard anything so awful. It was really awful. What the hell was that? Well, I'll tell you what it was - just plain awful! Yuck!

2. "RE: American Idol Critique List, v.2.4"
1. Carmen Rasmussen - Wow! I'm not sure if I enjoyed the song or her singing the song, but it was fantastic! I figured out the secret to her doing well - sing faster songs, fast paced songs disguises her vibrato and sheep quality a lot easier.

2. Clay Aiken - Vocally superior to Carmen, but not as exciting. Simon, I know Clay is not the most ideally marketable person, but something about him obviously appeals to a lot of people.

3. Ruben Studdard - Kind of a blah perfromance, but it sounded nice.

4. Kimberly C - It wasn't a good performance for her, but this was a pretty mediocre week. So-so.

5. Trenyce - Second week in a row, I haven't really liked her performance. Not terrible and she looked great, but not exciting either, and a few missed notes.

6. Kimberley L - I thought she was heading into disaster range when the first 10-15 seconds started, but she saved it at the end. (Or rather the song saved her) Only her "Heatwave" performance was worse.

7. Corey Clark - By far his best performance of the season.

8. Rickey Smith - I think, good sir, that you are done. That should have been the perfect song for you but I still didn't like it.

9. Josh Gracin - What a disaster. It sounded like he was shouting the song. Worse than a Karaoke Performance. I think his strong performances of the past will save him but that was really bad.

LAST EDITED ON 04-02-03 AT 08:19 AM (EST)

Not really thrilled this week with anyone, but here's how they break down for me.

The Good

1) Ruben - Nice job, but I'm sensing some sameness with him. Not just the clothes, either.

2) Kimberley L. - The low parts weren't good, but the rest had wonderful energy.

3) Clay - Dawg, I love the voice, but when you sing a bouncy song, you have to move a little. During the group numbers, he'll move around and play off of the people singing near/with him, but when he's on his own, he tends to just stand around.

The OK

4) Trenyce - Pitch problems messed up what could have been a top-level performance.

5) Carmen - Nice song choice, nice attitude, just nice. I can see why Simon says she's the most commercial of the female competitors left, but unlike Simon, I don't necessarily mean that as a compliment.

6) Kimberly C. - Agree with my Dawg Randy that it was a bad arrangement of the song. But no matter what arrangement, she still has a raspy voice that doesn't show a whole lot of versatility (one of the few Paula comments tonight that I could agree with). I expect to see her back in the bottom 3 this time, and this time, she would definitely deserve it.

The Unbearable

7) Joshua - Wrong song and he did nothing with it. I was so glad the show ended.

8) Rickey - Ack! The cheesy 'fro wig. I would have tolerated that if he hadn't been so horrendously off pitch during the falsetto sections. You know it's a bad performance when I'm wishing for Corey Clark to come back, and I just kept thinking how much better Corey would have sounded on the falsetto parts.

edited for grammar

First of all, I need to get this out in the open. I HATE DISCO! Whew, that feels better. With that in mind, on with the show.

1. Ruben Studdard - Thanks, Rube for staying on the soulful R&B tip. Ruben is a natural - perfect pitch, controlled, smooth. He exudes joy. Watching him perform gives me goose bumps. Mad love to the 205, yo. REPRESENT!

2. Carmen Rasmusen - HELL-o! WOW! Where in the world did that performance come from. I'll admit, I didn't think she had it in her. Her voice was strong and full. She was confident. That song had some tough phrasing and she handled it like a real pro. As this show demonstartes each week, it's so much easier to sing the ballads well. The uptempo numbers take some guts and are often more difficult to pull off. I'm still amazed. For what it's worth, that performance rivaled some other teen-aged blondes - Mandy Moore, Jessica Simpson, Brittney. This is the first time I actually believed she could be an American Idol.

3. Clay Aiken - Again, technically perfect, probably the best technician in the field. Always controlled, graceful and professional. I would like to see him stretch it a little and open up a bit and let loose but it's all good.

4. Kimberley Locke - The first few bars were horrendous but then she TORE. IT. UP! Really like Kimberley with the attitude and strong, assertive voice. Keeps moving up in my rankings and should be guaranteed top 5. Looked very pretty tonite to boot.

5. Trenyce - Started off great on a song I really didn't want to hear. She went a bit flat in the middle then got a bit sharp near the end. Definitely not her best performance but Trenyce defines Diva in this competition but has enough individual style and flair to be unique in her own right. Considering the distractions she dealt with this week, thought she handled herself well.

6. Kimberly Caldwell - IMHO, Kim consistently makes poor song choices. I think she did about as well as she could with this one. Ladies and gentleman, tonight proved exactly why Kim is this year's Ryan Starr. That's not necessarily a *bad* thing but after her original audition, "Superstitous," I was convinced this was the new American Idol. Instead we get the polished (phoney), theatrical (phoney) Vegas act week after week. Very gutteral this week. You don't need to growl out every word to create the earthy effect. Would love to see Kim let go of theme park training, sit on a stool and just drop a bomb on us without worrying so much about the damn presentation. She's talented and beautiful. A little more sincerity would go a long way.

7. Joshua Gracin - Poor, Josh. Poor audience! Thought he started out OK in a total karaoke kind of way. But, about half-way through, he seemed to realize he was singing a disco song and just seemed to lose it - his energy, his confidence. Just wasn't very pretty to watch the fish struggling out of water.

8. Rickey Smith - I wasn't a big fan of Rickey heading into tonight anyway, so not that disappointed in this truly awful performance. The falsetto was OK but everything else was so, so wrong. I was embarassed for him.

5. "RE: American Idol Critique List, v.2.4"
Verdine--Best guest judge yet! Constructive, generally positive without being a kissass. Interesting look he's got there, though. ;) Number after name is my average weekly placement.

1. Ruben (3.75)--Points to Ruben for actually singing my suggestion. Damn good. He doesn't really sound like Barry White but I knew he could do this one. A good comeback from last week! Just lose the friggin' 205 already.

2. Clay (1.25)--This is not one of my favorites, but yeah, Clay COULD sing the phonebook and I would listen (but I wanted Copacabana!!). What planet is Simon on again? He can easily match Ruben for charisma--not size, but charisma. The singing of MY request is the tiebreaker.

3. Trenyce (3.25)--Yeah! Way to come back from last week! I'm mad that she didn't sing my request (Don't Leave Me This Way), and I think it would have been even better, but this was pretty darn good. Could someone remove the dead animal from Simon's ass at this point? Trenyce is not short on star power at all, and everyone can see it but him.

4. Kimberly Locke (4.75)--Whoa horsie! The beginning was definitely outside her good range. She hit the rest of it quite nicely, but I think performance wise, it wasn't quite as good as Kim C and Carmen. I'm gonna give it to Kim L by a nose though for the vocals.

5. Carmen (8.5)--Surprisingly good. I noted she didn't take the pitch up on 'turn it upside down', but that's a legit choice on this song (and she probably would have missed those pitches), and her performance skills were pretty good. She handled the 'articulation' part well.

6. Kimberly Caldwell (4.5)--I didn't hear the off-pitch stuff that Paula and Verdine did--the key of that song is pretty weird to start with to my ears. I think she would have done better to sing the song I chose for her (I Love the Nightlife), but I thought she was still pretty good, close to even with Carmen.

7. Josh (5.5)--Vocal-wise, it wasn't solid, but not that awful either. Also didn't bring the energy that Kim C and Carmen did.

8. Rickey (7.5)--Ouchie. This was not pretty. Randy was right, there were pitch problems, and some of this song really wasn't in Rickey's good range (ahem, Paula). I did like the wig though, and he got rid of it at just the right time. He seemed outclassed by everyone but Josh tonight, and based on past performances I'd much rather see Josh stick around.

Bottom three--Kim C, Josh, Rickey
My boot choice--Rickey
Predicted Audience Boot Choice--Rickey

What a blase show. I lived through the disco era. This was not disco. When I think of disco I think of the Bee Gees or Donna Summer.

1.LaShundra alias Trenyce: Great performance, energy, and voice.
2.Clay: Clay is my man. He should win this but Ruben will give him a run for his money. He is charming and has a voice.
3.Ruben: A nice voice, a nice person. But why doesn't Simon tell him to lose weight? It's a double standard.
4.Kim L: Good job can do even better.
5.Carmen: not her time to go--yet
6.Kim C: She has lots of charisma. I hope she goes far in some field even if it isn't singing. Her voice is good but not great. I think she is trying but she wasn't born with pipes like LaShundra. I really like her stage presence.
7.Josh: One of the better voices. But not tonight.
8.Rickey: buh-bye

This was AWFUL !!!!! Here we go:

1. Kim Locke. FABULOUS !!!!! What a week this is, that she steals the show. She was great though, and I so agree with what her song says

2. Clay. He's getting into a rut, he is sounding the same every week. He was still good though.

3. Ruben. I never thought of Barry White as disco, that was my problem with Ruben this week. But, again, he has a great voice. He does bore me though.

4. Trenyce. I liked her, she started great and sort slacked off at the middle and finished great.

5. Kim C. She had a terrible arrangement, it was NOT in synch with her. But she was good. Although, like Clay, she is getting in a terrible rut.

6. Joshua. He started dreadfully, and then proceeded to give a good performance, but ran out of gas at the end. It was obvious he was not well. He was totally out of breath.

7. Carmen. I thought she screamed the whole song. But looked sooooo pretty.

8. Ricky. SO AWFUL !!!!! He was out of breath, but unlike Joshua, he wasn't sick. He's just terrible. GO AWAY !!!!!

The Best: Kim Locke is the only one worthy of mentioning.
The Worst: Ricky
Public Bottom Three: Ricky, Carmen and Kim C.
OUT: Ricky. I AM PRAYING !!!!!

One final note, I can't wait for Larry Johnson to tell us what he thought of Ricky's wig, Kim Locke's outfit and that "celebrity" judge guy

Thanks for asking, Katem... see my Disco Journal which has now been posted...

Though, I neglected to mention our frightening guest judge, Verdeen. With his tight, high-rise leather pants, huge silver belt-buckle, pomopadour jerry-curl, and transparent frilly pirate blouse, he looked gayer than me, Ryan Seacrest, and Corey combined!

(And did anyone notice how uncomfortbly icky it was that he stood so close to Ryan when they talked. Eeeew!)

8. "RE: American Idol Critique List, v.2.4"
Who would've thought disco week would be worse than country rock week? This is pathetic. I pretty much agree with Simon this week. In fact, I usually agree with him (except the excessive Ruben praising)

1. Kimberley Locke (9,5,3) - Her best performance thus far. She rocked my world. I don't really enjoy her personality though.

2. Trenyce (2,1,7) - nice recovery from last week. Not her best performance, but good job. Looked cute too.

3. Carmen Rasmussen (12,11,8) - surprise, surprise! Carmen gave BY FAR her best performance. She's young. She's learning. I'm starting to like her. And I dig the extensions, and it looks like she's lost a little weight.

4. Ruben Studdard (8,3,4) - Ruben is good. However, to this day none of the judges have had a negative critique. This bothers me, because I do not think he is in any way flawless. That said, good week.

5. Kimberly Caldwell (4,4,2) - moved up partly because of sympathy. THEY SCREWED HER! First, and foremost, the cameras on her looked as if they were being operated by five year olds who didn't know that when they pressed the zoom out button you can't see the person anymore and couldn't even hold a camera steady. It was ridiculous. Then PAULA disses her. If she is booted, I'll be outraged. That said, not her best week.

6. Clay Aiken (1,2,1) - yeah, that's right. I agree with Simon. Major demotion this week. That was not disco buddy. Luckily this won't affect your overall score too much, but c'mon, dance a little, do SOMETHING. (still my fave to win, good luck next week!)

7. Rickey Smith (11,9,6) - pathetic, just pathetic. The afro thing, c'mon. Loved Simon's comment about the birthday party. Right on. He'll probably be done this week.

8. Joshua Gracin (7,6,9) - he gets worse every week. Someone please stop voting for him. He was AWFUL. Dreadful. Isn't he supposed to be fighting for our country or something? I think the one good thing about the war would be if it got him off of American Idol.

RIP
Vanessa Olivarez (3)
Charles Grigsby (10,7)
Julia DeMato (6,8,5)

1. Kim L--Throw it down, Momma. She, by far, vocally outclassed everyone. Good for her.

2. Trenyce--Almost "stole" it from Kim, but not quite there, yet. Looked stunning and loved the boots.

3. Carmen--I am beginning to think that Simon is actually on to something. Yes, she sounds like Belinda Carlisle, but is that a bad thing? She was one of the few to show any energy this evening.

4. Ruben--I'm not as ga-ga for him as most seem to be. Here's my beef, 80% of his perfomance was with a female backup singer. I think he should have done Brick House.

5. Clay--Blah. Here's my problem with Clay, when I close my eyes and listen to him sing, I am hearing Broadway Idol. I am almost certain he is the heir apparant to Michael Crawford, which isn't a bad thing. I doubt I could listen to an entire cd of him.

6. Kim C--Yes the arrangement sucked, but where was the energy? Larry, if you are reading this, please comment on that outfit.

7. Josh--Originally, I had Rickey over Josh, but since I foolishly picked Josh to stay in my anti-bootee picks, I'll give him second to last.

8. Rickey--Um, did you know that the special judge was in Earth, Wind, and Fire? If you did, why in the world would you sing one of his songs? Sucking up that backfired. Should have sung "You Make Me Feel Mighty Real" by Sylvester. Wretched.

I have to admit this week was terrible. But ya know they really did try their best. I don't think Simon gave them much of a chance. He must have been on his period this week or something LOL

1. Ruben Studdard - At first I really wondered why Ruben had made it so far, but after the last two performances I now see why he will probably be in the top 3 at the end. He was great last night...but yet again get rid of those jerseys already!

2. Kimberley Locke - She was great last night! I hated the outfit...light clothes on big women just make them look bigger. She was a bit shaky at the start but I love that song and she did it well.

3. Clay Aiken - His voice is unbelievable but he is so un-animated and that may cost him in the end.

4. Kimberly Caldwell - I don't think her performance was great tonight. She was probably nervous after falling into the bottom 3 last week. I was really expecting her to shine tonight and she disappointed.

5. Trenyce - she was great tonight! She really does take on the song and tries to look right and make the song her own.

6. Carmen Rasmusen - One of her best performances to date...I think she did really well.

7. Joshua Gracin - sorry but I agree with Simon..Joshua was awful tonight. he really didn't look like he even wanted to be there.

8. Rickey Smith - I must admit he did try but in the end it just didn't work for him

My bottom 3...rickey, joshua and Kim C

First of all, I think this week should be a freebie week, and no one goes home. I think it was stupid to use Disco, it's been dead for 20 years for crying out loud, let it RIP.

Clay - favorite, sung well, not comfortable singing this genre but did ok with it, still ranking him number 1 as I'm not going to take this week seriously

Ruben - I really like the sound of his voice, and think it will still come down to these two

Kimberly C - since I'm not counting this week I'm keeping her at 3rd, but agreed with Paula, would like to see her stretch it next week and do something else with her voice

Carmen - moving her into fourth, not because of her singing tho she has improved, but because she is having a great time and the more fun she has the more comfortable she feels and the more comfortable she feels the better she does. So bring it on, little girl.

Josh - at five, because I'm dang partriotic damn it and am not putting him in the last 3.

Kimberley L - sometimes I love her sometimes I can't stand her, I don't know what it is. Hated the outfit, honey if you've got curves where curves don't belong don't accentuate with shimmery silk. I can say this, cause been there done that

Trenyce - voice or not I just don't like her. 'Nuff said.

Ricky - Oh my, I still don't know how he's still here. I'm sorry but I disagree with Simon, I think most of last season's cast could sing circles around most of this season's.

Speaking of which, anybody remember the boot order from last year? Would love to compare with this season and see which we would have kept.

Wasn't really impressed with this week, I could have sang most of these songs and done just as good. Kim L was the only one that picked a hard song.

Soooo....

1. Kim L- hated the outfit but she sang wonderfully
2. Clay- still love him would buy his CD
3. Kim C- what was with that outfit?
4. Carmen- Simon is right she has the look to sell
5. Reuben- I'm sorry but I really don't get why everyone likes him
6. Trenyce- I don't know what it is the big mouth, the long nails....something I just don't like her, I have a hard time watching her
7. Josh- sorry dude
8. Ricky- you did a big "oopsie"

*Putting on my best Simon Cowell*

Dreadful, simply dreadful. I mean, and I'm not saying this to be mean, but the show was just terrible. I could go to any startup network on TV and see these same acts.

Seriously, this was not a very good show. From Ricky's wig to Kimberly L's outfit to Joshua's singing. I was not impressed. So onto the individual comments.

Ruben - "Can't Get Enough of Your Love"
I'm sorry, but I don't buy this as a disco song. He sang it well, and I still think he is one of the top two, but this was not one of my favorite moments for Ruben.

Clay - "Everlasting Love"
Okay, everyone here knows I am biased towards Clay, but not necessarily after last night. He sings really well, but that is only half of the equation for an American Idol. I'm not sure if I can see Clay on tour in front of thousands of people, sitting on a stool and singing ballads.

Kimberly L - "It's Raining Men"
Okay, I give her credit for trying a true disco song. After a rough start she did really well, but someone needs to help her with her wardrobe choices. I'm not going to be Simon-like and tell she needs to lose weight, but I am going to suggest she find clothes that don't necessarily highlight that fact.

Kimberly C - "Knock On Wood"
She was kind of in the middle of my list this week. Not great, but not as bad others. I think she may think she is a little too safe, but we'll see. Look for her to possibly be in the bottom three this week, just because of the yawn factor.

Carmen - "Turn The Beat Around"
She moved up on my list after last night. The question is whether she can do it again. Maybe it was those magic hair extensions. I think she should stick around at least another week or two to see if this was an aberration or the real Carmen.

Trenyce - "I'm Every Woman"
Sorry, but I am just not on the Trenyce bandwagon. I'm getting tired of all the Whitney imitations. She should make it past this week's vote, but I'm finding her performance time to be a good time to go to the kitchen for snacks.

Ricky - "Let's Groove"
I'll give Ricky credit for trying to have fun with his song. Too bad he couldn't hit all the notes. Last week may have hurt him, but this week may be the one that puts him out.

Joshua - "Celebration"
Cold or not, he missed the mark this week. I think he and his country act may be heading back to base soon.

My Bottom Three: Ricky, Joshua, Kimberly C
My Boot Choice: Joshua
Likely Boot Choice: Ricky

Edited to correct a typo. There's probably more, but it will have to do!

Ruben - if you lose your eyes while he's singing, his sound will take you away.
Carmen - for a girl that started out with a country yodel she has really progressed. carmen had a hot new look last night, she sang a pretty tough song and she is FINALLY starting to add some new moves to her on stage "dancing." i really disliked carmen at first and i thought simon was on crack for picking her. now i hate to admit it, but simon made a good call with her. she's definitely getting better every week. and if she hits it big, she won't be limited to one genre.
Clay - if i'm in the mood for say neil or james t or one of the guys that belts out the sentimental favorites, then clay is my man. he has a great voice, but is america really going o purchase a lot of his sound?
Kim L - girlfriend looked like she was a 70's diva last night. the curly doo was scary in it's own way, but it might be just the thing that can give her a "signature look". it worked for her.
Kim C - she needs to head out to vegas and be the opening act for celine dion. she can sing and she can perform, but something is missing. no true start quality. and i think she kinda has that bubblegum pop look about her.
Trenyce - she is trying waayyyyyyy tooooo hard.
Ricky - i have got to give him credit for having fun on stage even when he knew he was sucking.
Josh - too bad garth didn't start out as a disco singer. josh does what he does great, but he will definitely never be a cross over star.

1) Kim L. (2,5,9) - Fabulous tonight. Disco works for her.

2) Trenyce (6,3,3) - I thought she was good. It was a pretty unimpressive night.

3) Clay (4,2,2) - He does sound the same every week, and I wished he would have moved around more, but he's still good.

4) Ruben (5,4,6) - He's kinda the same every week too. Enough with the jerseys!

5) Josh (1,1,1) - It was is worst performance, but he's still my favourite. Hopefully he'll bounce back.

6) Carmen (8,9,7) - She has a good look and she sang good tonight.

7) Kim C. (3,8,4) - Kinda blah...

8) Rickey (7,7,11) - See ya!

Overall
-------

1) Joshua (2.00)
2) Clay (2.75)
3) Trenyce (3.50)
4) Kim L. (4.25)
5) Ruben (4.75)
6) Kim C. (5.50)
7) Carmen (7.50)
8) Rickey (8.25)

Surprised at how weak the week was. I wonder if they are getting more nervous as they get closer?

1. Ruben Studdard - Picked the perfect song and sang it great. Moves as much on stage as Barry White! I'm starting to think 205 was his weight in 5th grade...

2. Kimberley Locke - Excellent job singing a tough song that showcased her voice. Not thrilled with the threads tho.

3. Trenyce - I thought she sang better than the judges. Looking diva-fresh as always. She's my favorite and Ruben #2.

4. Carmen Rasmusen - She's growing on me. She needs the right songs though. Looked great.

5. Clay Aiken - Dropped a bit this week. Tends to sound the same no matter what he sings. Great voice though!

6. Kimberly Caldwell - Amusement park singer. Fake/plastic. Not a fan can ya tell?

7. Rickey Smith - Gets the #7 nod over Josh since he sang a tough song. I liked the wig. I thought he would nail that song better.

8. Joshua Gracin - Wasn't there vocally or physically. Bad week for Josh. Hope he stays and Kim C goes.

I've never seen a whole AI show, but I guess I'll weigh in since I'm a FLL DAW

These are based on a mix of everything I've seen of them (not much), and somewhat just on last week

1. Ruben - guy's got an awesome voice!
2. Clay - didn't see his performance this week, but he and Ruben were definitely my top 2 from the bits I have seen of both
3. Trenyce - shocked me most of the bottom 3, she's been good each time I've seen her
4. Kim L - HATE the song, but for the most part, a great performance (and I, for one, like the curly hair much better on her)
5. Rickey - apparently his performance last night was horrible, but since I didn't see it I can't knock it
6. Kim C - I think she has a nice voice, but I wish she'd ditch the trampy look
7. Carmen - so-so
8. Josh - I really want to like him, but his performance the past two weeks were AWFUL (I don't know how the judges liked that horrible rendeition of "Don't Want to miss a Thing" (or whatever the title is) - doing my best Jay Sherman - it stinks! (not the song, just his slash job on it))

This is ridiculous. I don't remember this board ever been so wrong than we have this season. There was pretty much a consensus bottom 2 in Rickey and Josh and *both* of them are safe? Who the hell is voting?

I can understand Josh being safe, since there are some people who are going to support him since he's a Marine, just like there are people who stopped voting for Trenyce when her arrest report came out.

But Ricky surprised me - after all, he was bottom 3 last week.

My daughter suggested that the video screw-up on Trenyce's phone number the night before might have been the reason for her low rank, but then again my daughter does not know about Trenyce's past.

She also suggested that they let Rickey get through because he sang a song written by "that lady with a mustache" Verdine, and the show didn't want to insult their guest judge by booting someone who sang one of his songs.
