Well, with the Montana episode coming up in a few weeks, and with the Utah leg totally confirmed, I will try to figure out what happens in the Montana leg.Well, many months ago I found a site mentioning Three Locations: Pomp's Pillar in Billings, Underground Mall in Havre, and Charles Marion Russell Art Museum in Great Falls. We also have reasonable suspiscions that the race goes to Yellowstone National Park, and I also found a site a few weeks ago that the first location in the leg after leaving the previous Pit-Stop is Ted Maczynski's Cabin. If anybody has theories of how the leg is set up, possible tasks, or Sequences of Locations this is where to discuss it. It would be most logical for the order to be: Unabomber's Cabin (Outside of Helena I Believe) Underground Mall in Havre (Maybe a Detour Similar to the Shopping Task in Chile of TAR7?) C.M. Russell Art Museum (Roadblock?Like the Hermitage Task in TAR5?) Pomp's Pillar in Billings Yellowstone National Park Maybe a Campground for Pit Stop?

You mean Ted Kaczynski? The unabomber? That would be a sick joke if that's a pitstop! ...and why the heck would they use that on the "family" edition?

I agree with the possible pit stop at Yellowstone or a campground because don't the teams still have their sleeping bags and tents from the first episode.

This is my first time actually posting on this board...I read it all the time...you guys are great at tracking stuff down. The best part of all the shows is reading things on this site. Finally I can add a few things I know:"Pompey's Pillar" is about 25 miles outside of billings. It's a national monument where Lewis & Clark carved their names. This page shows a map and a few pics: http://www.pompeyspillar.org/about.html Ted Kaczynski's cabin was outside of Lincoln, MT. This page shows a pic: http://www.crimelibrary.com/terrorists_spies/terrorists/kaczynski/10.html I wish I knew TAR was here when it happened, but I guess they didn't really advertise! anyway, keep up the great work!

LAST EDITED ON 11-15-05 AT 03:48 PM (EST)The article posted by Montana Girl said that the cabin itself was transported to Sacramento, CA. So, maybe the race went to the cabin he was interrogated in. Either that, or the Ted Kaczynski stuff was all a hoax. ETA: The Pompey's Pillar is also very close to Little Bighorn, although there is no mention of that in any possible spoilers I've read, I wouldn't doubt it if that was a location following the "U.S. History Family Road Trip" theme.

Thanks Montana Girl buried back a few pages take it for what its worth , sounds legit . More on the Billings Montana location spoiler . While searching on-line I came across this blog ..terrestrialball The Amazing Race: A Rumor Now that the Amazing Race has started, the rumor mill is grinding. I heard a rumor a month or so ago that the Amazing Race contestants had been in Montana. And in Billings no less. But today I heard another rumor from a pretty reliable source. Not only were the Amazing Race contestants in Montana but the pit stop for that particular point in the race was a ranch not more than 45 miles from where I live! Whether this is all true or not remains to be seen. But this is the way I heard it. The Race leaves Cody, WY and heads for Fishtail, Montana through Red Lodge. They camp at the ranch for their mandatory rest period and then head off to the airport in Billings. Which means they had to pass by the town I live it! This is all too exciting! This is all speculation, however, but it sure makes the race fun to watch.
I replied and got a response from the poster above.. Here is the scoop the way I heard it. I know ________ that own a ranch near the Fishtail/Absarokee area in Montana. He told us a week after the Race had started that one of the pit stops would be at this ranch. I guess they filmed it sometime during July but he didn't pinpoint exactly when. He also never told us how many teams were left at that time. He has never watched Amazing Race so I don't think he would be making it up. He told us that they wanted a "real" cowboy to greet the contestants so it must be a pit stop. He also told us that the winners of that leg of the race win a car because they had to bring it out to the ranch. He said some of the teams had to leave in the middle of the night to drive to the airport in Billings which also leads me to believe it is a pit stop. So unless the Amazing Race films fake footage to throw people off I am pretty sure this happens. I can't see the Race going through Yellowstone Park because of the terrible road conditions and traffic. The road between Cody and Red Lodge/Fishtail/Absarokee area is two lane and not great but the traffic isn't too bad. If they do drive it, they will have to watch out for wildlife, deer, etc. because they are always in the road. If they are going into Yellowstone Park, they could have been planning to go to Red Lodge via the Beartooth Highway, which would have been awesome, but we had landslides this spring and the road has been closed all summer. Maybe they had to make a detour through Cody to get to Red Lodge. Kind of a round about way but it would be one of the only ways to get to Red Lodge from Yellowstone Park because of the road closure. This is all just speculation. I absolutely love The Amazing Race. It is a great show! PZ ~puddin~

Wikipedia has a summary of TAR8 posted. They now list the PITSTOP for Leg 10 to be Fishtail, Montana at a ranch outside of Billings Montana. They are absolute reliable source and have excellent inside information on all TAR shows.
