"Theme Song" |
Isn't it about time we had a proper tune for BlowsVivor? Something which would suitably depict this jamboree? Ayak had 'The Flame' by Fine Young Cannibals in his review episode (not pertinent but Cheap Trick also had a song by the same name) but we need something for all seasons. Go ahead. Make a submission. Somebody must know a song that fits. In the meantime, I present this for consideration. It just feels appropriate. And if you know who sang it, I'll buy you a pint of your choosing. So we maybe gorgeous, So we maybe famous, Come back when we're getting old. Cover us in chocolate, Send us to the neighbours Frame us in a video. Clone us in a test tube, Sell us to the multitude Guess that's the price of fame. She likes the black one, He likes the posh one, Cute ones are usually gay. Here we come, this is our destiny calling We're freaks, this is our destiny calling Unique, this is our destiny calling now. Don't believe the adverts Don't believe the experts Everyone will sell our souls. Get a little wiser Get a little humble Now we know that we don't know. Tell us when our time's up Show us how to die well Show us how to let it all go Here we come, this is our destiny calling We're freaks, this is our destiny calling Unique, this is our destiny calling now. So fat cats playing roulette with lives This game is fixed It's all a lie So fat cats playing roulette with lives This time is curved There's no straight lines So fat cats playing roulette with lives Forget myself We're all entwined There's no straight lines. Here we come, this is our destiny calling We're freaks, this is our destiny calling Unique, this is our destiny calling now. {repeat x 2} This is our destiny calling. Destiny calling. Now. NOW.

>>So fat cats playing roulette with lives This game is fixed It's all a lieWe're all entwined There's no straight lines. This is pretty much perfect, GG, and I don't know who does the song, but AK will. I think the BV whores are getting a bit above themselves though if they think they have a "Destiny" unless destiny means the scrap heap of the 15 minutes loser parade...

GG, I think the only song of theirs that made much of an impact in the States was "Laid," but this is "Destiny Calling" by James. I've always liked good pop-rock....

But of course you are right Ayak. Let me know what your favorite tipple is - I don't peg you as a lager or pilsner man, more the bitter/ale type guy, the latter of which should of course be served at room temperature. It's hard to get round that concept, I know. James are actually a very underrated band who have done the rounds for well over a decade and a half. Their brand of pop rock never managed to penetrate the mass audience domestically, let alone in the US. Maybe some time in the future I will try and persuade the great and the good of this board to give them a try. I should also say: I don't know why you're omniscient. I do know that when I grow up, I want to be like you. That is, if I'm not reincarated first. The same would still apply. And to both you and OFG: you were *ahem* meant to come up with a appropriate them song. Surely you know one? And, yes, when that happens, I'll stop calling you Shirley. ¬GG¬

4. "Theme Song" |
GG, if I didn't start racking my brains for a theme song, it's because I already did one on AK's thread, but if I get another DAW out of it, here are my lyrics:"That Song About the Midway" Joni Mitchell, ad. by OFG I met him on the Midway with his show incomplete... And he stood out just like rubies On a Kansas girl's feet He was playing on the whorses, he was playing with pulling strings He was playing like some devil wearing wings Wearing wi(n)gs He looked so grand wearing wi(n)gs Did he tape all those auditions for Ka-ching? Did he fly I heard he did! Did he fly? Like a rhino was doin' some hunting from the sky I followed with the sideshows Down in L.A. town And I found him in a trailer On the Shakesvivor grounds He was betting on some Love Cruise He was Shaking up the dice And I thought I saw him cheating Once or twice... Was he wondering was the gamble worth the price? Pack it in, I heard he did, pack it in Was it hard to fold a hand he knew could win? Lately he's been hiding It was somewhere in the news And I'm still on BlowsVivor With my contract and my blues A voice calls out the numbers And it sometime mentions mine (#9, #9) And I feel like I've been working overtime. Overtime, I'm getting tired, overtime, Always playing one more challenge for more face time Slowing down I'm gettin tired slowing down And I envy him his hideout that he's found Cause I'm midway down the midway, coming down Coming down... There, I just learned how to do italics, v.g.

Continuing to ponder (although your song is perfect but you WOULD egg us on to propose others): and I keep thinking of the Doors for this steamy stoned-out LA show. Trouble is only the titles work, not the lyrics:Light My Fire Break On Through to the Other Side Strange Days Twentieth Century Fox We Could Be So Good Together Five To One Whores Lassitudes (I mean Horse Lattitudes) Or maybe some Jimmy Cliff for a more trials and tribulation feel: The Harder They Come Many Rivers to Cross Sufferin in the Land You Can Get it if You Really Want Sitting in Limbo Well, to add some lyrics to this plethora of titles--here's a verse by none of the above. I heard one of the Blowsvivor's singing it around the campfire: I wish I was on some Australian mountain range well I wish I was on some Australian mountain range I got no reason to be there But I imagine it would be some kind of change!

A belated BUMP for this thresd, as I finally got around to co-opting the talents of boomer for a theme song. Unfortunately, he hasn't had the presence of mind to follow BV (a-hem. . .), so he's confused us with that "other" show, set in the Outback. . . But I am SO impressed he followed through on my request, and I'm sure it deserves to be included here, for posterity!>Well, GT, having not kept up on the BV circus, I don't feel that I could >do a proper song. But for some reason America's "Horse With no Name" kept >running through my head, so this will have to do for now. > >It's All a Game > >On the first part of the journey >I was looking around for strife >There were plants and roos and rocks and things >There was dirt and hills and sky > >The first thing I saw was a girl with a buzz >And a place with no crowds >The heat was hot and the ground was dry >But the group was full of sound > >chorus: >You see They've come to the outback for a millionaire game >It feels good to stay out of the rain >In the outback, it's hard to stay in the game >'Cause there's always one there who can make it a pain >La la la la la la la la la la la > >After two days in the outback sun >Their skin began to turn red >After three days of Survivor fun >They were campin' on a river bed >And the story was told, when the river had flowed >Made them sad if their rice was dead > >They've come to the outback for a millionaire game >It feels good to stay out of the rain >In the outback, it's hard to stay in the game >'Cause there's always one there who can make it a pain > >After nine days they let the girl go free >'Cause the council declared it to be >There were plants and roos and rocks and things >There was dirt and hills and sky > >Survivor is a desert, little truth to be found >A perfect disguise lurks above >Under the surface, lies some hearts made of stone >Some of the players will give you no love > >They've come to the outback for a millionaire game >It feels good to stay out of the rain >In the outback, it's hard to stay in the game >'Cause there's always one there who can make it a pain >La la la la la la la la la la la > > >boomerang Isn't that boomer the cutest thing?
