I watched it and liked it. Yeah, it was very apprentice-ish, but a lot of reality shows are nowadays. I thought both billboards weren't very good at all. One wasted a lot of space by leaving the sides empty (doesn't catch the attention), while the other was very very sloppy. Anyway, I thought it was an entertaining program and I'll most likely continue to watch.

Watched it and liked it, but a little dry. I think Project Runway was so much better. I guess, I'll give it some more time to see how it progresses.I just would rather see the contestants designing clothing to see who is the most creative & talented as a clothing designer. Why are they designing Escalades next week? I think this is (as Apprentice has turned into) a little too "commercialized." Looking forward to Season 2 of Project Runway.

Loved it! I thought both billboards sucked royal! The first thing I thought when I saw the billboard on the left was, "Why didn't they use the whole billboard?" HELLO! That was so dumb! The line "you're out of style" was so cheesy but I liked Tommy... I think that guy who has an afro and wore just jeans and a t-shirt was a dork. Come on, how is he going to be the next fashion designer if he doesn't know how to dress himself? --Donna :~)

<I think Project Runway was so much betterAgreed, cattychat. The tasks were actually related to fashion design, plus we didn't have to contend with Hilfiger's billboard sized ego. Like Trump, he never lets the viewer focus on the candidates. I find both Trump and Hilfilger extremely annoying. Also, this show is a huge rip off of Project Runway, and copy cats are rarely as good as the original. When does the new Project Runway start? Everyone is entitled to my opinion.

I would have liked the flag-in-the-middle one if the Hillfiger name had been bigger and bolder. The other billboard (although yes yes yes, Felix, it featured the sheer marketing GEENYUS that was making a pun out of Tommy's name) looked like stuff I doodled on my binders in 1971. Why did the chick who looks like Roseanne Barr in a blonde wig freak out towards the end? I left the room for a minute. Hillfiger looks like a gloomy chimp. The chair he sat in for all of five seconds, and that lame-o slogan? Cheeeeezeeeeeeey. But there was nothing else on and I liked Project Runway and I watch the Apprentice so I'll probably keep up with this one, if only out of inertia.

But they booted one of the guys I liked last night! And then Stripper Doods or whatever it's called came on and it was beefcake overkill; I'd had enough. It is so funny to hear how seriously people take these things, though. These guys are auditioning to be lapdogs, and they act like it's an interview the Nobel Prize committee.

is this show for real? i mean c'mon. i guess tommy and execs are trying to differentiate themselves from the much superior 'project runway', but this sad attempt at a reality show sucks. designing a billboard. call me silly, but isn't that a job more suited for a graphic designer? not a fashion designer! call me stupid again, but isn't pimping out trucks a job best suited for detailers? not fashion designers! the winner will get a job designing clothes, right?. or will he/she be relegated to one of tommy's less successful brands? i am lost.

No, the actual design of billboards and all types of advertising materials is based on the company and advertising agencies. Tommy has complete control over what the ads look like and the content...unless he has relagated that to someone else (which I can't see happening with someone that has that big of an ego). I am sure the ad agencies would use graphic designers to pull together the ideas but the graphic designer would not be expected to come up with the actual billboard. isn't pimping out trucks a job best suited for detailers? not fashion designers! Probably, but there are ways employers test their employees that have nothing to do with their educated skill sets. Like sending two of the peeps to the red carpet and interview stars...that had nothing to do with designing clothes but the information gathered had lots to do with how successful these peeps could be in a business setting. If peeps can't be social with potential/current customers then they are doomed to not be that successful in those types of settings. Handcrafted by RollDdice

I agree with you Zoo. I am really disappointed in this show. I loved Project Runway and was looking forward to seeing "Fashion Designers" competing and seeing all of their creativity. I wish Shannon would have followed through with her leaving the show, because "I thought I would be DESIGNING CLOTHING." I do understand that fashion involves advertising and making customers happy, but let's be serious here. If you plan to design clothing, you need to have those skills first and foremost. Hardly any of the candidates have any background in designing CLOTHING, so I don't understand what this show is looking for. My guess is, a gopher/assistant for Tommy's company. I'm sure many of them could fetch coffee and answer the phone, if nothing else. In my view this show goes down in the WTF category.

I see many people here saying they want this show to be like Project Runway because it is such a great show (and I am not arguing that point) however, how many people would be here protesting the fact that The Cut was a cheap rip-off of Project Runway? Also, legally maybe the network didn't want to be too much like Project Runway due to law suits by ripping off the show. See how much flack FOX has been given for ripping off shows and rushing to get them on the air before the original idea gets aired. I am sure there are reasons why the first part of the series has been the way it is. I bet that in the future they will be designing clothes in challenges. Also, take The Apprentice into consideration. The challenges Donald makes them do doesn't have that much to do with being his Apprentice. Selling pizza and promoting rock stars come to mind right off the bat. Handcrafted by RollDdice

I saw the tail end of the first ep and the entire second ep of this show, and I think I like it. While the tasks are not straight-out clothes designing, the big name clothes designers are active & creative in all kinds of fields and do a variety of things--if their client wants his/her car accessorized the client gets what they want. It's just their clothes lines that pay for the limos & stuff, and what most people are familiar with.. I thought the car design thing seemed reasonable and it sure show-cased that neither Princess or the one who got voted off had a clue about how to listen or relate to a client. They are both lost in egoland. As big as Hilfiger's ego seems, I bet he can turn it right off as needed when he is relating to a celebrity. I like Hilfiger more than I would have thought. He has a big ego, true, but he has the presence to pull it off. I dislike the cheesy kiss-off line, however.

If you look at the bios on the Web site, only FOUR of the contestents are actually clothing designers -- James (clothing manufacturer), Rob (clothing artist), Shauna (designer), Tommy (designer). The rest are anywhere from absolutely nothing to do with the business (i.e. restaurant manager), some designing background, although not clothing (i.e. handbags & skate boards) and just people who like clothes (i.e. personal shopper or shop owners/managers).I agree this shouldn't be too close to Runway, BUT if the point is finding someone to DESIGN under Tommy's name, shouldn't you have some clue about designing clothes? This last challenge, on the one team, only James knew how to sew. Is Tommy going to teach his protege how to sew and all the intricacies of the clothing business and clothing designing basics? I will continue to watch the show to see how it progresses. Seems as though we already know who the final four will be IF it is a CLOTHING designer Tommy is looking for to DESIGN A CLOTHING LINE. This early in the game, my money is on Shauna or Rob. I do like how Tommy is no nonsense and straight to the point, rather than doing a Trump imitation. He obviously is keeping close tabs of what's going on during the challenges and is calling the right people into the pit.

She pretty much shot her self in the foot at the style forum. what an idiot. I really got annoyed with Shauna tonight. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw her in a floor length fur with big diamond earrings calling liz "nuveau riche". Has she looked in the mirror lately? I think she needs contacts. And It's obvious those two girls (shauna and blondie) are jelous of liz. they will probably rip on Jessicca next week. I don't know why the girls had a problem with Liz. She DID do all the planning of the Cotton Club. That girl with the two toned hair, OMG, she makes me so mad! I really cannot stand her or her little friend either!!! As far as Studio 54, I was not impressed at all! Tommy told them over and over that they needed to do research and to not "reinvent the place" but to "duplicate it"... The first place I would have gone is the WWW and do searches and get pictures. Everyone knows about the "VIP" room there and the one they made was a joke! Heck, they could have rented the movie "54" and could have copied it from that. However, I don't think Chris (was that his name?) should have gone. The blonde lady who can't handle dealing with gay people should have been thrown out! I'm from the mid-west, am a Christian and personally don't think it's morally right to be gay, however, I have gay friends and respect their right to live as they choose. I would never talk down to someone else because they aren't the same as me and the fact that this woman was so rude about it floored me. Especially in the designer world! HELLO! I think there are more gay designers than are striaght. Why is she here??? I agree about Princess. I wanted her gone last week. She thinks her s**t don't stink and that she knows all. I was embaressed for her reciting that poem. She's not at some party in Harlem for goodness sakes, she's in the Hamptons! Doesn't she realize that everything she does is on camera? Mike (the bald guy) also needs to go. He also thinks he's this great designer and that he's like God or something... At this point, my money is on the big guy with the afro (can't think of his name) but he really holds himself well, knows how to sew and can actually design. He just really needs a makeover! LOL --Donna :~) P.S. Is it just me, or is it really hard to remember who's who in this show as far as their names go?

First, WAH! Tommy cut the cute guy!I think Liz is a tad obnoxious but competent and the other two (Cameron Manheim and the Blonde Roseanne Barr) have bonded and are a wee bit gellus. Although I don't dislike either of them, YET. Princess? I hated her from the first time I heard her name. And it didn't get better. I think the Cotton Club looked great. The hairstylist was a fab idea. I think Julie was naiive and ignorant and it cracked me up that she felt she couldn't, well, speak Gay. Like it's French, or Espanol. On the other hand, whathisface couldn't have been more sniffy/queeny; I don't think he really did much to open her little mind. At any rate, she needs to rethink the whole 60s minidress go go boots thing at her age. She'll be kept around so we can feel contempt for her.

I love this show - it's almost as good as Wickedly Perfect was (and I'm not into either clothes or home decorating so the fact that I've enjoyed both these shows so much is kind of surprising.) I love watching the interaction between such different personalities - but am really RELIEVED that the slutty girl who thought she could just flirt her way into stardom is gone. What a joke. The next to go has to be Princess - her behavior at the party last night was beyond embarrassing. Although I've got to admit that the blond woman who insulted homosexuals everywhere was pretty offensive herself - especially if she wants to work in the fashion industry. Poor Tommy's going to have a rough time trying to decide which one of these two needs to be gone first!I was shocked that Chris had to leave last night. Even though his team lost, still...he seemed to have all the ideas and did the majority of the work. Surely, that should've counted for something. He definitely deserved another chance more than that blond thing. I think Wes is the doll of the bunch (and I loved all his face time), but that bald Captain Picard looking man with the overly inflated ego needs to get a serious grip on himself before he too is 'out of style'.

I wasn't at all surprised that Chris got the boot. If that was showing his strength, well, he just doesn't have it together enough to get the job done. He claimed to have done the research, but he couldn't execute it.Julie will get hers sooner or later. So will Princess and Jeff. They've given TH the ammo that he can use at any time to get rid of them. If he doesn't have a clear-cut choice during a future elimination, he can just call one of them out, mention the glaring character flaw, and then cut them for either not working hard enough to prove their worthiness or for sticking their necks out and falling flat. I was ready to turn this show off, but the fact that the outrageous characters are not going to be rewarded is making me get interested. Memo to The Apprentice team: some of us would rather watch the crass and tacky get canned, not given starring roles. Was the "you hire him or I will" comment foreshadowing a James victory?
