If you are a regular reader of this board, you will already know that I'm not the biggest Jordin Sparks fan. I will not deny that the girl can sing, but I've always said that there is something about her that bothers me. I believe I may have finally figured it out.Again, I will be the first to say the girl has the pipes, but ever since her audition, something hasn't sat right with me. Initially, i thought perhaps it was the 'stage parent' syndrome and the fact taht I don't like parents who push a child in a certain direction. Jordin has been on American Juniors, America's Most Talented Kids, a slew of smaller competions, and now Idol. I have no proof that they are pushing her into this, but....its a gut feeling.
But I think what really doesn't sit right with me is how Jordin may not be "right" for Idol in terms of being the winner. When i see Jordin sing, I can't help but picture her as being the perfect recording artist for Disney. To me, she would fit right in with "High School Musical", Hillary Duff, The Cheetah Girls, and all the others that are currently HUGE for Disney. I can't see her really crossing over and having mass appeal for the young and the adult markets.
She has talent. She can sing. But is she truly the best person, and the right style of singer, to be the American Idol?
