10. "New "Bring It On" Promo..." |
LAST EDITED ON 01-19-08 AT 10:04 AM (EST)Thanks Mayan Sun and Survivor Fever... Here is the new promo, "Bring it On". ...and here are some of the vidcaps...
I think there are 2 separate events that are shown here. One is the first challenge, with the carts and puzzle peices and race, while the other is a competition that requires them sprinting into the ocean, presumably after something. I think that the daws are first delivered to the beach site in their respective war canoes. They are assembled with Jeff and stand on their respective tribal mats. Then after a brief introduction, Jiffy style, they are challenged to a quest, perhaps a twist of some kind. We see them take off of their mats and race to the sea....the fans have a bit of an advantage as they are closer to the sea, but we see Erik, the runner, take the lead, and Ozzy comes from behind in classic dolphin-boy style to perhaps overtake him? Now, what twists have we seen in the beginnings of Survivor...in Palau, we saw 2 last picks not even make the show...Wanda and Jonathan. And that started out with a race of some kind to determine pickers. We have also seen them challenged to see who would be first exiled...wasn't that when Terry won the challenge and I think Misty was short changed...left to stay on EI... Then, there was another pick'em and I think Bruce got the short end of the stick.... Personally I think they are racing for some kind of an advantage...but waht, first pick of camp locations?, some blankets or "stuff"... What could the daws be racing toward in the ocean...first clue to the HII perhaps? Last one back is first exilee...don't think they are planning a double boot for the first show? Would appreciate any kind of brainstorming here! Regarding the carts challenge, I think that is indeed the first challenge. We see two carts sans wheels and a pile of puzzle pieces. Presumably they have to build wheels, then get the cart off and moving to various stations to do something else. We see the Fans get off to a quick lead, note there is a bikini clad girl trailing with an unlit torch(first challenge always involves fire at the end, right?). The fans are off and running while the favs are still assembling...we see the final stage of the challenge in the first few vidcaps, I think... where they will have to turn the giant puzzle and supposedly be the first to light something...

Interesting FloPo, and good sluething. I certainly see the Fans getting an early lead in the cart race, and crashing into the fence at the end. Not sure what the end-game for that is, but as you say there is a torch along for the ride. The running swimming is interesting, because it seems more individual in nature. Could they have a team race scoring type challenge, wherein the team score is comprised of the finishing places of each racer, and the low team score wins? In that sort of scoring, each competitor has incentive to beat the others, not just the slowest member. If the cart is for fire, could this be for immunity?? And what the heck is going on here:
Looks like 2 spectators (or Phil at the Pitstop mat!) On the left seems to be James. Is it a guy on the right? Could it be Joel? Could each tribe select a member of the other team to sit out a challenge??

Hi Byoffer: In regard to your question of that vidcap, to me that looks like James and Ozzy as they first size up their camp area...where to start, where to build the shelter, the fire, whatever? To me, this is after they have met the other team, been introduced to each other via Jeff, then participated in that running into the ocean competition, then returned to their camp via their canoes.... Looks as though they have their "stuff" with them...I think the cart challenge is the big challenge for immunity and perhaps fire. Still pondering what the other competition is for....hmmmm...got to be for some kind of advantage. I like that you speculate it could be team, yet individual...

Hi WhoamI! I'm glad you pointed these pics out, I think you are right. I think the first pic is when the fans tribe is delivered via the traditional war canoes with native escorts to the intial beach where they first meet Jeff and the other tribe. Note the clothes that they are wearing. Then, here are some pics from TDT...
We see the DAW's have been assembled on the initial beach on their respective mats, where Jeff probably introduces them and sets up some kind of beginning twist that starts with them being instructed to swim to probably retrieve something or else it's a race in and around to some point where the winning tribe will get some sort of advantage...re. best camp, supplies, etc. The point is, this first competition is most likely not the challenge, as traditionally the first challenge is one for immunity combined with fire somehow. The first challenge of S16 appears to be the one with the carts and puzzle pieces, where they are wearing different clothing. Here we see them leaving their mats in a race to the water, note the same clothing... Just my take on the sequence of events. I think once this first little competition twist is completed, the daws will get in their respective canoes and be given their maps to their camps, then set out to find them and then get to work...the challenge will most likely be on day 3 perhaps...

LAST EDITED ON 01-20-08 AT 12:01 PM (EST)As I’ve said in another thread, I think that the opening Episode of S16 will closely resemble that of S12. From the CBS site for Survivor: Exile Island: LET THE GAMES BEGIN Separated by gender and age, the Older Women, Older Men, Younger Women and Younger Men meet host Jeff Probst on Exile Island. There, he explains that each week, at least one Survivor will be banished to the Island, forced to live on their own away from their tribe until they're allowed back into the game. REWARD CHALLENGE: SKULL CRUSH Next, Jeff Probst explains the rules of the first Reward Challenge. The four tribes each delegate one player to participate, as they must run across the island to a pile of skulls. Next, the players must smash open the skulls on rocks until they find an amulet. The first three players to return to the starting line and present the amulet win flint for fire. The losing tribe will elect one tribe member to stay on Exile Island ... Danielle returns empty-handed, leaving the Younger Women without flint for fire and with a dreaded decision to make. Who will be left behind on Exile Island? Misty is selected, but before the tribes leave for their beaches, Jeff reveals a secret of the Island, announcing, "Hidden somewhere on Exile Island is an Immunity Idol. Find it, and you will be safe from Tribal Council!" And to be a little more specific: I think that just beyond the camera’s shot of the race to/through the water there will be two huts (one for each tribe) erected as part of the First Reward Challenge and that if we analyze the photo below for those missing from it we will narrow the field of candidates for First Exile.
ETA: Looking at the photos of the two camps with the missing in mind would also (theoretically) be helpful. But, never any good at vidcaps, because of a monitor issue that has reduced my online world to various shades of gray (only), I can't even begin to tell one face from another. G

I am in agreement, Georgiana. I also think that this first competition is indeed for some type of reward, supplies, and perhaps to determine exilee. There are some new vidcaps that I need to bring over that clearly show the Favs tribe has fire...could they win flint perhaps at the first competition? As for who is missing in the above pic, here's who I see... Boat on left, FAVs tribe: (Front to Back) JFP, Ami, Parvati, Cirie, James, Ozzy, Yau-man, Eliza(in pink), and Amanda(with cap)...Jonathan is not seen, but could he possibly be hidden in front of JFP or Ami? Boat on R, FANs tribe: Left to Right: Mikey B, Joel, Alexis(Climbing in), Erik(in gold shirt behind Alexis), Kathy(in hat), Mary, Chet, Jason...Missing Natalie, Tracy So, could one of Jonathan, Natalie, or Tracy be the first exilee?

LAST EDITED ON 01-21-08 AT 07:53 AM (EST)Flowerpower, Thank you! So ... In S12 the first Reward Challenge awarded the winning tribe(s) flint. So, if the Favorites have fire and since Jonathan is shown in one of the photos above working with Ozzie and James on that tribe's new shelter, then I think that we may be able to conclude that Malakal wins the Challenge. Which leaves a short list of two candidates for First Exile. And since Natalie is shown relaxing with Mary, Alexis and Kathy in the Fans' new shelter (and working on it), then we're down to one: Tracy. And if she is the First Exile, then I think that the choice (as it was in S12) was one that the losing tribe was forced to make. Although, on second thought, if both the Fans and the Favorites were aware that she is a contractor, then it could be that the latter made the choice. One other thought ... I think that, in lieu of a true All-Star salute to the past seven Seasons, we are going to be served dollops of nostalgia in the form of familiar Rewards, Challenges and Twists throughout S16. And if that's the case, I do hope that Guatemala's moment is its Car Challenge/Reward. And that one of the current spoilers is dead wrong ... G

There are some new vidcaps that I need to bring over that clearly show the Favs tribe has fire...could they win flint perhaps at the first competition? Well, it would seem that TDT/TDT has come around to our way of thinking … But, tucked down at the very end of the second page is this paragraph: Note: the following text contains a spoiler. So who wins? Well, TheSpoilerKing at Sucks had the following tidbit: "Drama over making fire. Favorites cheat." We'd guess that either has to do with this challenge (since the favorites lose the IC), or with making fire back at camp. Either way, the favorites end up with fire at their camp while Jonny Fairplay is there, so either the Malakal (favorites) tribe wins the RC (and fire), or the trick Fairplay claims to have up his sleeve was a blowtorch. One of the two.I’d seen this spoiler, but the dueling ‘boot lists’ for this Season have become so numerous that I’ve begun to read them (and the comments concerning them) more for amusement than for information. However, TDT appears to have given this one credence. And, if it is at all accurate, then its plain language would indicate that the Favorites “cheat” at “making fire” rather than at winning flint in the Reward Challenge. And that could sure send our conjectures regarding the First Exile up in … smoke. G

And that could sure send our conjectures regarding the First Exile up in … smoke. True, G, if the spoiler is correct. To me, the winning team from that first competition would have all members accounted for at their camp construction site, as are all of the FAVS/Malakal Tribe. The losing tribe would most likely have to exile one of their own, thus that person would be awol during the camp construction...Tracy is the only one awol. Regardless of the spoiler, I am still on track with a Malakal win and Tracy as first exilee...of course with more vidcaps pending, it could possibly change... ...so maybe Flint is not what they win???

LAST EDITED ON 01-21-08 AT 10:24 AM (EST)Thanks SO much to Survivor Fever! Due to the amount of vidcaps available, I am providing the link to all of the pictures. Here is one of the pics showing smoke at the FAVs tribe... *This promo is interesting in that it introduces each of the 10 fav's tribe first, alphabetically, then introduces only 7 of the Fans tribe, there was no mention of Natalie, Tracy, or Mikey B. All of the Daws in this promo are seen at camp, interesting that the speculated exilee is among the missing! Here are some of the interesting shots that shows the mingling, perhaps beginnings of alliance...at least we can speculate: This pic is of Ami and someone else, but wanted to note that the tripod structure is over their fire area...
Note the camp area of the Fav's tribe, once completed...
Note all of the daws mingling together. And it appears that Ozzy goes out in search of fish or food, note his wet hair, and what has he got in either hand?
