"Ass Key Confessional" |
This subject has it's time honored place in the Survivor Series. From Rich's "You can just write me the check" To Jon's "I'll bet a million Sandra won't make final four"This season should be no different. There always seems to be alot of guesses (which I'm sure will be added onto this thread) as to the "real" Key Confessional. But here is my interpretation. After watching and re-watching the first episode. A couple of things stood out to me. #1: RobM: "...Apparently I'm the brains behind this operation, so I'm gonna have to make it work..." From what we have already gathered pre-season it sounds pretty likely Rob4 is in the finals. So, is this the quote we will be thinking about come the last episode? But what really got me thinking was this quote from Alicia. #2: Alicia: "The first tribe, in this game, that gets water and fire, is the tribe that's gonna go the farthest." Let's keep an eye open for who is first to achieve fire. The winner will be from that team.
But you can call me tribe. S7ABCABP Winner

Did anyone else think anything of Rupert's confessional after Romber won the cars, I can't remember the EXACT quote, something about not wanting to see either one of them win and having him take the million from them. Was it just filler or could it mean something? I thought more people would be talking about it since it was the first one like this from him.

20. "RE: Not so sure" |
Don't we have spoilers that put Rob4 and Amber in the final 2? And what of the supposed romance between the 2? Yes, MB loves irony. BUT, not every confessional is aired for it's irony. Last season, I got burned because I *thought* a Morgan would win because the Drakes kept saying "A Drake will win." I figured MB was just setting up some great irony. Wrong. It was foreshadowing, not irony. What I meant was that, even if, GOD FABBID (since it's Bahston Raaab we're discussing ) they make it to, say F4, she'll screw him over in some way and beat him. I am still NOT buying into the Amber and RobM final 2, based on Snewser, after he had DeadaDarrah in the final position on his scorecard all last season, and we (yes, me too!) were suckered into thinking she might win. No offense if you're a Darrah fan , but I "feared" that she might win. (Go Sandra!)

ShiAnn made a statement about Hatch that jumped out at me. Something about knocking out the king too early being no fun. I know the Gay Naked Fag isn't predicted to go very far, but that comment makes me think he's around awhile...probably the last of the winners voted out.

Here's your quote Connie --Shii-Ann: "What fun would it be if the King left the first day? It wouldn't be any fun." What I got out of this Connie, was that Number 1: Shii-Devil is possibly Dicque's only ally here -- at least for a while. And Number 2, it leads me to believe that Shii's other tribemates are leaning towards booting Dicque early on in this game -- making him an early, if not the first boot for this tribe. But frankly my dear Connie, I don't give a . . . Scarlett

A Shii-Devil alliance with Big Dicque would be a classic Shii-Devil miscalculation!!! Goes right along with her behavior leading up to the non-merge! I'd love to see that be the reason for her demise, and she wouldn't even see it coming.

46. "RE: Ass Key Confessional - Rob C. - Eps. 3" |
I had forgotten about this quote from Big Tom, and now it seems Rob C's comment in Eps. 3 is even more relevant.During the RC when he and Alicia (who does not seem too impressed with him) were sent off to find rocks (or something) for the new shelter (while everyone else was actually building the shelter), Rob said something about how it was customary for him to not get to "play with the big boys" or something to that effect. I'm obviously not sure of his actual words, but there are 2 things lead me to believe that Rob C. does not last long in ASS: 1) Big Tom's statement about Survivor being "a game for the big boys" paired with Rob's statement about not getting to "play with the big boys" AND... 2) the fact that although Rob C. is a terrific comedian and was edited as a HUGE player in 'Survivor: Amazon' because a) he was so darn entertaining and b) he made it to F3, he has not been seen very much at all this season, despite his entertainment value and the popularity he has garnered with fans. Looks like we have his story in the bag. He's definitely on his way. Not sure if he's next, but he's definitely soon. ~ EmRB

that is an interesting observation KB...because history has shown that the tribe that takes the first casualty usually produces the winner...of course, as you say, it doesn't mean Sabotage gets it first, and with 3 tribes, the dynamics are changed somewhat (however, it would make sense for the two smallest tribes to join together to oust the largest, which could lead to a Sabotage winner)

Alicia, who said the line, is from... Chapera. The first tribe shown to get water (though dirty) is... Chapera. The first tribe to get fire (Immunity Challenge) is... Chapera. And the spoilers say the tribe that goes far is... Chapera. Can this mean anything?

...I thought after watching the show that there was one clear cut favorite for the key confessional award...and so far no one has noted it.I don't know the exact quote offhand, but it was when RobM said something to the effec that "we are the underdogs in this game". Now, I'm not sure if this was in reference to the whole Shapiro tribe or just in reference to his alliance with Lamber, but either way it fits with the speculated final 2 of Lamber/Robfather. But, my only concern comes from the long held belief that "strategies revealed do not succeed." How do we jive that long held belief with the admission of the Lamber/Robfather alliance in the very first ep of the show?
My one rationalizing thought is that since this is the Allstars edition things are a little changed in terms of story editing. Maybe MB wants us to see that the winner's had their strategy since day one so we'll respect them more when that day comes. Also, with the rumors of our first ever Survivor romance maybe MB wants to milk that storyline as long and as throroughly as he can, therefore why not hint at in the first ep. Other key confessionals include... **the obvious future demise of the Rupert/Rudy alliance that will most likely end next ep with Rupert showing his true colors. **Dique saying that he can start a fire whenever he wants which will play into his smuggling of matches.

I hate to see the spinning clown head swell, but, in retrospect, it's clear that Burnett wanted to show that the winners had their strategy in place from Day 1 -- and it also seems clear that Burnett didn't know whether Rob or Amber won, so he edited them both as potential winners. So, the key quotes had to be Boston Rob's quotes from E1, "We are the underdogs in this game," and "I'll keep my word no matter what to <Amber>. I trust her, and I don't think she's gonna screw me." So much for strategies revealed do not succeed -- because this strategy was SO open, Burnett had no choice but to reveal it, and it proved to tell the whole story of the game. But we thought it wouldn't work, because we were so conditioned to believe that strategies revealed do not succeed! In response to Blow by Blow's comment: if Rob M and Amber truly are the final two, then MB better do a darn good job showing us each week how cleverly they're plotting and how hard they're working. Well, he did. We saw Rob play Lex, Alicia, Tom and Rupert. We saw how Amber was part of the decision-making loop, including quizzing Tom and getting his handshake. We saw both of them debate betraying the other one, but ultimately decide not to do it. And yes, there had been two Day 1 alliances before that succeeded -- Colby and Tina in S2, and Ethan and Lex in S3 (though they both lost the final IC). The difference was that we didn't know about them until the finale.

LAST EDITED ON 02-03-04 AT 09:10 PM (EST)Rupert: I am the new guy on the block. All of these people know each other. Right now I'm just trying to stand back and let all of these egos decide what to do, and I'll be the worker bee. New strategy for a new game. Rupert is an EPMB favorite character That along with Jerri's quote about changing her strategy caught my attention. Could it be that a new strategy imployed wins the game? Colby: It's never been done before. No ones ever gone back to play this game twice. It changes the game completely, not from a physical standpoint, but psychologically we know how bad it gets and we know how long this road is. It'll be interesting to see who's up for that. Another EPMB and Jify favorite character. Those who seem to be struggling with the conditions, more so than the rest could be possible early boots. Alicia: The first tribe in this game that gets water and fire is the tribe that is gonna go the fartherst. This is the much talked about quote from Alicia. Obviously this is something to keep an eye on. Tom: This ain't last time, this is this time. This quote was in reference to sue saying that they couldn't make fire in Borneo so why even try. Another example of how those who adapt to the new game will get along better. Could this be a foreshadowing of a Sue early but. Jerri: We have been given nothing, and the realization of it has now hit home. No one is gonna come in and save us. We have to save ourselves. Another quote about players needing to adapt to the situation. Tom: They're going to have to toughen up a little bit. This was in reference to the Alicia vs RobM blow up. RobM: ....I'll keep my word no matter what to her. I trust her, and I don't think she's gonna screw me. RobM talking about his Amber alliance. I know some have latched onto this quote but I think it is another example of EPMB loving irony, especially in reference to a villian such as RobM. Shii Ann: He is the proto-type for all of us other survivors, so of course everyone wants to take him down. Everyone wants to dethrone the king. This quote is more interesting to me because of her reference to the proto-type survivor. RobM: We are the ultimate underdogs In reference to his tribe Shapiro. Possible foreshadowing? Jenn L: Nobody out her wants to reward another winner. Sorry guys it's our game now, get the hell off of our playing field. For the spoiling community this is obvious foreshadowing. EPMB is probably preparing the viewing public of what is going to happen to the former winners. This show had two overridding themes: 1.The conditions are harsher than ever and because we are ASS's we have to step it up. Those who don't step up their game are gone. 2.These players all know each other, and because of that new strategies need to be employed to win. DRONES

48. "Key element to Key confessional" |
The thing that stands out to me about the "Key confessional" of each season is how absolutely ironic the statement is once the game is over. For example, with Rich's "write me the check" statement, Rich was truly seen as the guy who probably should have been the first boot. Then he wins the whole game! Another is when Vee wins S4. Her, Sean, and Rob M were swapped, doomed to be pagonged, and Vee says that a black person can never win this game. The players don't realize at the time how ironic their statement will prove to be. The one that sticks out from S7 was when Jon says about Sandra that he will never let her win a million dollars. The two of them fought like brother and sister for 38 days (till Jon was finally booted), and then not only does he let her win, but he gives her his jury vote. I don't know that this post helps us spoil this series, but I think it can eliminate some of the "key confessionals." For example, while I can appreciate Alicia's "winner comes from the first fire and water" statement, there isn't anything ironic about that statement. There needs to be something absurdly ironic to contain that foreshadowing element needed to predict the winner with that key confessional.

I know it's rather late for me to jump in here with a key confessional, what with the game ending this evening, but now that almost all the spoilers are pointing toward a Romber F2, one specific confessional by Rob M. keeps running through my mind. About half way through this season, there was a confessional wherein he said:"After this is over hopefully Amber and I can be having some fun together, spending my million. Worst case scenario, we'll be spending hers." If (more like when) things pan out the way the spoilers are indicating and we see a Romber F2 tonight, that, to me, will be the key confessional from this game. ~*~Andromeda~*~
