Red Mango is my new addiction. Pumpkin Spice starts there today!I? Like the "new" Facebook layout. When you say whistle over and over to your one year old is it starts to sound funny. Whistle. Whistle. Whistle. This really isn't like Buggy's game where you tell me 3 random things about yourself. My 9 year old got glasses last Friday. She lost them on Wednesday. Envelope glue should be flavored.

Like bacon? http://www.mmmvelopes.com/Oooh, sorry about the glasses thing. That sucks! Probably accidentally threw them in the lunch trash along with the kids that tossed their retainers. The schools should really put a "got retainer?" sign on all of their trash cans. I don't really care enough to be impacted by the new FB layout. I'm just not sure if I'm seeing all the "most recent" or if it's selecting what I see. I tried the little "uncheck that box" trick and it didn't seem to do much. Again, I don't care enough to waste time worrying about it. Boo is usually near the top of my feed, and that's what really matters, right? Pumpkin spice anything is awesome. I even made a pumpkin spice angel food cake last week (Add a cup of pumpkin and some spices to a regular mix by folding it in). Have some Red Mango for me!

Buying a new chest freezer to rip apart and make into a kegerator this weekend. Ours died. It was about 20 years old, so no surprise. Found a great cooking experience to do while in Antigua this December (cruise stop). Her classes normally aren't offered on Fridays, but figured I'd ask.

Since May, when the farmer's market opened, I've bought all of my meat from my favorite Illinois organic, sustainable, animal welfare-approved farmer. I haven't bought meat anywhere else. The plan was to buy for weekly consumption but also to build a stockpile in the freezer for when the market closes at the end of October. My freezer is chock-full of lovely things.A couple of weeks ago, he mentioned that I should consider buying a half-hog, since over the summer I probably could have assembled a half-hog out of what I've bought from him (in addition to the beef and chicken.) I did a little research and asked him a few questions last week, and it sounds like it really would be a good thing for us. I'd be a lot more leery of it if I hadn't already had a chance to sample everything. The funny thing is that when I mentioned this to Mr. Fro he didn't give me that "you're crazy" look. He actually thought it sounded like a good idea. (amazing.)

Still generally using rose candles.My new lvoe of the moment is a fizzy lychee soda pop. Why is it that bacon and tomato go so much better together than bacon and red sauce? I have a satellite landing on me tonight. Steak and Kidney pie with mash and brussels sprouts for supper tonight. So if the Dirac equation is not true because something weird happens when muon neutrinos convert to tau neutrinos does this mean that we can have a man on Alpha Centauri before the end of the century?

It's 11:00 a.m. and I'm still in my pajamas.I'm supposed to be working on a project for a client but I was going to work on my resume but I'm still stuck on Sporcle. I really want to go to the Garlic Festival this weekend but it's supposed to rain so my husband doesn't want to go. He was grumbling, "What's there to see? They have the same stuff every year." Exactly, which is why I like going. I'd try sneaking out and going anyway but I think he might sniff out the truth. I think I will let my husband get a new TV. I'm tired of fighting with his guy hormones. I'm annoyed that my husband decided that he really DOES like my sencha tea. I'm going to have to hide the box so there's more for me. My daughters made some brownie cookies. I recently gained two pounds. Coincidence? We didn't go camping at all this summer and I don't think we'll get to go this Fall. I'm kinda sad about that.

I have made a lot of jam this summer. Lots and lots. I'm having lots of fun.As I have told people about my jam-a-palooza, I've casually said that since my family can't eat 50+ jars of jam, I'd be happy to give some away. Most have taken me up on the offer. I want to give people the apricot, as it is my personal favorite and I feel that it's the best jam that I've made this summer. But every time I wrap up a jar of the apricot I get a little possessive of the remaining jars. It is MY personal favorite, afterall. I get a little pang of selfishness every time I give a jar of it away. Every time I select a jar to gift, I obsessively count up the remaining jars and think that I can't possibly give away any more. I considering giving away a different jam, something tasty but not quite at the level of the apricot. In the end, I can't give away a lesser jam when I know the apricot is better, so I end up giving away the apricot. Three more jars are going out the door today. In February, when I'm eating the very-tasty-but-inferior-to-my-beloved-apricot spiced peach jam, I'm going to be pouting. I realize that this is the most ridiculous whine ever.

Funny note: all of our class - except 1 - now qualify for the 'senior' status  My feet hurt every day. I think I should invest in some good shoe inserts. Any suggestions? My boss should retire. There are only three more left from the case I bought a couple of weeks ago. It's been a real project to eat or do something with them all though they are juicy and delicious. Sunny and 75 and on break today. Life is good. 
To clarify, I give money to environmental groups, but I hate that they would do something so wasteful as send out junk mail. I get tons of it.

They were nice and fresh. Supermarket peaches suck. I bought the case directly from the grower. They were picked less than 24 hours before and they were a mix of ripe to somewhat green. I sorted out the ripest but have only had to refrigerate about ten of them for a few days. Today is a good day-- only two meetings, and none that I have to prepare for.I drove the BMW to work today. *waves to kidflash* A few minutes ago I found out I didn't get a promotion I interviewed for. The position was much higher level than where I am, so I wasn't surprised that someone more senior than me got it, and at least the hiring manager had some positive comments to pass along. We have an open house this Sunday. C'mon people, somebody buy our house! DD has an after-school play date today. I expect her to be completely overwound by the time I get home from work. September is nearly over and I am still working on August performance reviews for my staff. I *hate* doing those things.I haven't mowed a lawn since August 2010. Life is good! I love the new Dr Pepper Ten. The new Facebook changes remind me why I almost never use Facebook. They make these changes that affect your privacy settings, and then you have to go back in and reset everything. I think I prefer to stick to the older methods of online communication.

I am patiently lurk-waiting for the SS thresd since I have missed it the past few years and have missed participating in it terribly.I lurk more now even when I don't post because I cannot even begin to tell all of you that know me how much you mean to me. It is sunny and breezy here this morning (yes it is still morning) and we are suppose to hit 89* again today. BUT the evenings have been cooler and that is great since I sleep perfectly when it is in the low 70's. I got this beautiful little Persian cat from a feral rescue a few months ago. She's funny and vocal (and sometimes scary) and not a lap cat at all but I can't imagine not having her now. I tried to upload a photo but it said it was too big and deleted it. It has been too long since I have tried to upload and forgot how to do it. BUT trust me, she's beautiful. It has been a really bad year but I am so absolutley postive that HUGE blessings are chasing me down right now! I have missed playing here. I don't know how often I will be playing here, but for today I am here  It is just one day at a time for me-that's all I'm given. And that's good enough for me. I am playing hooky today.

Since OT is a real catty place, I should share this story.
Labor Day weekend: DB & SIL are going to Fl with kids /grandkids for the long weekend.
I get to take care of the cats.
The cats are kept in separate parts of the house because a couple had feline lukemia & I guess it's contagious, so....separate areas.
In the main living area of the house are: Charlie (a beautiful white longhair who is diabetic & gets insulin twice a day - what fun! ), Simon the grey tabby who runs away from me, Lily & Abby - both very loving black & whites.
In their bedroom is Girlie (aka Jaydee) 13 yrs old & Sallie newest member of the household - solid black kitten who appeared on the porch a month or so ago. Sallie (named for my mom) has been good for Girlie - brought her out of her shyness . Girlee - aka Jaydee- was not named for my father but his name was J.D. - SIL had Jaydee before she met my brother.
Next bedroom: 3 black, 1 dark grey, 1 tabby named Suzzee. Now this is the funny part of the story.
I go in one day & the door to the 5 cat room is open. I panick, go in & find everyone except Suzzee. I find a flashlight & search the house - that part that she could be in; I finally find her under the bed in the junk bedroom. I shoo her out, pick her up & return her to her group (or pride?). I close the door & go on to feed others; come back that way & the door is open again! Now only 1 black is left - sitting so pretty being the perfectly behaved little thing. I find them all under that same bed again (they also panick when they get out ). Shooed them back out, they ran for their room. Couldn't find Suzzee; looked everywhere! Finally called my brother - terrified that SIL would be upset w/ me. He says "no problem, that door doesn't close good; shoulda told you; she's probably up inside the big chair in her room."
I finally find her - right there inside that chair.
I tied the door shut with a string that I tied around the door knob and a nail that I nailed into the wall! Maybe it's not funny in the telling but if you had seen me searching the house all in a tissy cause I had lost a cat!
