"Is survivor realling surviving?"
I was just wondering why they call it survivor? Yeah yeah i know they go without food and decent shelter and all that garb..But i mean why dont they just dump these fools off in the middle of winter in some remote location in Greenland or something..Then we'll see how well they will survive..

1. "RE: Is survivor realling surviving?"
Canadian gov't with the tourism board has made offers to MB and CBS to shoot an edition of the show here. (You can do it in summer - we don't get snow in summer.) But MB keeps claiming that he needs bikinis. (And yes, we wear bikinis and skimpy swimsuits in summer when we go swimming in outdoor pools.)

But you also remember that the show has stepped in to help out. Remember in S2, when they ran out of rice. They traded the shelter for a couple extra tins of rice.

Though there is a risk of a serious (like spinal injury) or fatal injury on the show, I don't think it'll ever happen. Sure, Mike getting his hands burned really was not good but he recovered in a relatively short time and it seemed like he was quite fine afterwards.

Three is the perfect number.

"Survivor" is obviously a catchy name, but will MB let these people die? Hardly. The series would be shot straight to hell if someone died or even suffered permanent damage on the show. However, it is a stressful situation that is completely different from everyday American life, and many people can't handle such a situation. MB wants a stressful situation, and the people who do the best are the people who can adapt to both the new stressors (lack of food, shelter, extra clothing, bizarre weather, insects, heat, etc.) as well as stressors from the game (tribemates, challenges, alliances, people like Jon, etc.) The biggest "survival" aspect of the show is surviving Tribal Council.

I agree that the show was never supposed force them to eat bugs as their only method of survival. I wouldn't watch a show where I thought contestants were really at serious risk of dying every day, because I don't like needless death or violence. And no matter how many legal waivers the contestants signed before going, any jury in America would give a dead contestant's family a huge chunk of MB and CBS's $, so don't expect a lot of real danger.

That said, I am not ashamed to admit that I LOVE the real-life politics of the alliances and feuds that living like this causes. This is politics at it's most basic level, though I do also realize that MB is manipulating it and rigging it constantly. Still, the personalities are what keeps me intersted.

i think that, in a way, it really is surviving because, in order to win the game, the players have to avoid being voted off(you know, outwit, outplay, outlast).
So, they do compete to survive...each other.mwahahahaha

But also, in the other sense, they do kind of survive because it is probably pretty hard to be stuck on an island with bugs and adverse weather conditions and little or no food or shelter and crabby people all while trying to strategize and avoid being kicked off.

it is quite likely that this doesn't make any sense...
