Yes! I love the way they've been having Steve "pull back" and be serious for a second. The bit with the trying on of the wedding clothes and pretending to "really like" Randi was brilliant. She reallllllllllllllllly bought it..(since what man could resist her??).But following our therapy and psychology thread...isn't it interesting that the mother..father..sons..and ultimately..gulp! the daughter (Randi) NONE of whom show any attempt whatsoever to "reach" Steve?
It never OCCURS to Randi at any time to 1.) offer Steve part of her money if he'll "dummy up"....2.) join in his fun to provide at least a "psychological fit" stating to her parents that this is a "new" direction she's taking in her life and really wants to see where it leads her.
What appears so evident is the fact that NOT ONE of the Coy family members can remove the aforementioned "fence post" far enough to sit comfortably with any other thought process that I WANT WHAT I WANT WHEN I WANT IT..AND I WANT IT DONE MY WAY ..RIGHT NOW!!
But that's the beauty of the casting! Luckily they DON'T do any of these things or the show wouldn't be HALF as much fun.
Remember what P. T. Barnum said in 1864 !!! that is just as true at this minute as when he uttered it..with a complete understanding of "human nature" in general:
'NO ONE EVER WENT BROKE...UNDERESTIMATING..THE AMERICAN PUBLIC..'
