If you remember in S2, Rodger wasn't allowed to have his reading glasses with him the first couple of episodes until after a fire had been built because they learned from the lessons of BB using his glasses to make a fire in S1. I think it has been documented elsewhere that MB would not allow anyone to have their glasses with them until after both tribes have established a fire. Ack, yet another reason why I could never play Survivor, I can't see beyond two inches without my glasses. I still don't understand why Boran didn't take stock after they got to camp, find the telescope like Samburu did, and make fire; if they all knew about lenses being used to make fire because all their fire-making glasses were confiscated for the first three days, this especially makes no sense. Jessie talked about this on the Early Show the day after she got booted -- they checked her glasses and determined these were incapable of being used for something like starting a fire, so they OK'ed her to keep them from the start. I remember, also, that Elisabeth also had her stylish glasses in S2 that weren't present in the early episodes of the show. As for the telescope, I don't think they anticipated anyone thinking of using it to start a fire so they said "ok" to including it in the first-aid supplies kit. I don't know about that, Pepe, it seemed to me MB planted the telescope to see if anyone would find it and use it for making fire. If not a telescope in S4 maybe something else will be planted in the supplies that could have a fire-starting dual-purpose. But that's S4. We've heard from past contestants, that there is contact lens solution provided in the first aid kit, so that the contestants can clean and wear their contact lenses. Also in the first aid kit: -tampons/sanitary napkins -antibacterial soap -telescope -band aids ...that's all that I've heard confirmed for sure... but I'm sure that there's more.
