I am very curious.... who is voting for Scott? I doubt it is the tween/teens, they are voting for Anthony. What would someone find so special about Scott over the others. He does not have nearly the talent as the others and he was awful last night. I guess his bio piece helped him (although no mention of the D.V. charge).

LAST EDITED ON 04-27-05 AT 09:54 PM (EST)OMH. Up until now, all of the votes could be justified. This one can't be. How could Scott not even make the bottom three after that HORRID performance he gave? I've supported Scott as a talented but untrained singer. But he was AWFUL last night. And he doesn't even make the bottom three? Constantine was disappointing two weeks in a row, and Anthony certainly wasn't any worse than Constantine was this week (in fact, I had Anthony ranked three places above Constantine this week, and last week I had them in 5th and 6th). But we all need to find the people who voted for Scott last night ... and then hunt them down like the dogs they are.

I don't think he is getting the teeny bopper vote, he doesn't appeal to adult women who like hot fellas (lol-that would be me) and, well, I just don't get it! I would have lost money if I had bet on Constantine staying longer than Scott.

I thought Scott would for sure be gone after the wife-beater story. However, I have some friends who are not online much who never even heard about it... I would guess his audience is older -- and maybe people who aren't online much. I bet they never even got wind of the story, so it had no affect... It didn't break big, did it? I don't remember hearing about it anywhere other than a few online entertainment news sites that reported on it.

LAST EDITED ON 04-27-05 AT 10:53 PM (EST)I hate to admit it, but I let out a big smirk when Scott was safe. Personally, I enjoy when the small percentage of people that dislike a person based purely on appearence (not including his demeanor, which seems (as seen on TV) as pretty dreadful) have to deal with Scott. I feel bad for the majority of anti-Scott people, who vote based on his lackluster performances, that they have to listen to him (although I enjoy Scott more than Anthony, and if Constantine's farewell performance was any indication, better than him on the Tuesday I missed) for another week. Anyway, I'm not heartbroken. Constantine was interesting, but I could argue that he has one of the weakest remaining pure voices and his potential as your prototypical Idol vocalist is pretty low. I'm happy Scott's still there, although I have to say, I would have preferred that Anthony went over Constantine (he has a strong voice, I'm just not a fan, kind of hard to explain). Edit: I may as well add a thought here. I think it's interesting the pure hate Scott has gotten, and how it has translated into the hating of people that actually like him. The stereotyping of Scott's fans is astronomically high, ranging from the belief in a really strong local base to overweight fans who can relate to him. I did not vote for Scott this week, and if his performance is as horrid as had been said, maybe his top 3 position is impossible to explain. However, the degree of hatred is astounding to me. He has a criminal record, from what we know, an isolated incident from four years ago (IIRC). Why should such a thing have an impact? People make mistakes. For all we know, he could be naturally violent and a mass murderer waiting to happen, or he could have just made a mistake. We can't be sure, but to use that as a reason that he shouldn't stay seems a bit...weird to me. His singing makes many people cringe and he's a flat-out unattractive guy to most people. However, it's obvious that he either has a wide fanbase that simply do not come here or an extremely dedicated fanbase of a lesser size (I'm thinking like Jasmine had Hawai'i, except that Jasmine was a more polished singer and much more attractive, more like Camille I guess). Why do people have to ask every single week about who votes for Scott and pretty much degrading them for their musical/personal tastes? That's pretty disappointing, even coming from the AI board. A generous Icecat donation I'm okay with the result.

I think the publicity over Constantine's band putting out a new album with the William Hung people might have soured a few people out here. I didn't even like C for a few weeks, but he is likeable, and he will be fine.Scott --- I dunno here. I have not ever thought of him as the fat man or the slob or the whatever based upon his size. What has bothered me is his attitude on his sleeve. He must have had a rough life to be so outwardly in need of such a tough personna. I don't look at Scott and see the Ruben wanna be. What I see is a simmering pot, just this side of boiling over. I see a very carefully maintained temper, just waiting to be set free. I swear, when Simon told him to pack his bags, there was a shadow that slid across Scott's face that made my blood run cold. Who knows why anyone votes the way they do. I just HATED Carrie's song last night. I knew it from Martina, and it was awful then, too. Why does Martina sing such stuff, and why does Carrie choose it, only to STILL avoid the bottom 3? In all honesty, everyone else on that stage has paid some sort of dues in sweat equity by having to stand in that bottom 3, except Carrie. I like her, but she doesn't need AI, any more than Constantine or Bo. This may be a pretty wild ride, but it's definitely proving to be interesting!

LAST EDITED ON 04-28-05 AT 01:20 AM (EST)LAST EDITED ON 04-28-05 AT 01:12 AM (EST) I think Scott has an awful voice. I really think he gets the sympathy vote because he's unattractive, and an underdog. I honestly think if he were good looking with that exact same voice, people would say he's only on the show for his good looks and he would not have lasted half as long as he has lasted. I think people hate him because he's always rude... like when he made that comment about how he's brave for being on AI, unlike everyone else who is sitting at home, afraid. edited to add: Oh... and at least one time in his life he beat a woman who was the mother of his infant child. That's more than a "mistake" in most people's book.

Each year there seems to be someone who I liked in the initial audition and then virtually every time they sing after that I wonder what the heck happened.Scott is that way for me this year. Liked the initial audition, hated his attitude in Hollywood and really do not like any of his performances on the show. Some people do have the ability to sing certain material well, but once you get into the gearing up a new performance every week they don't have what it takes to carry that off. I'm not sure if it has to do with learning style or training or the particular aptitude of the person. But as we have seen, sometimes that initial audition tape will carry someone for a really long time even when they are unable to do the singing in the competition well.

So what you guys are saying is that Scott is not performing to the best of his ability. To use a Simon analogy, he is like a baseball player that hits homerun after homerun in batting practice but strikes out everytime in a game. I'd say he's not going to make it in the big show.

I'm not sure if that is exactly what I meant.More like sure he had the ability to be singing this one song that he chose at a specific point in time really well. But a lot of people can do that. Some people have what it takes to learn music fairly quickly, and polish it up fairly quickly, and have what it takes to sing a large number of different songs. Some people are more along the lines of a one-hit wonder, as long as they do that one thing they are great, just don't ask anything else out of them. And I know people who are very good at singing a lot of things that could not do well in AI because they either do not learn music quickly or once they have learned it they really have to polish for quite some time before any given song is good. On the other hand there are people you can stick a piece of music they have never seen before in front of them and they can not only read the music, but do a decent performance cold. Someone like that may have less natural singing ability than someone else but could do very well in a competition like AI because the time from first hearing the music to getting it to the best they can do the song is very short, just as long as they have the ability to sing a wide number of songs well. Now some people with training can shorten the time from first read to final product, but a lot of people will always need more time than you could get on a show like AI. On the other hand you also get people (me for instance) who consistantly flub auditions. I'm fine performing, but auditioning is hell for me. Which is why I went into science, not music for a career. I had enough classes and lessons and maybe even some ability I coulda been a music major, but I didn't have the drive to get past the can't play/sing at an audition thing. And I think that is why you also see those that weren't that great in the audition (good enough but not great) but that do really well when it gets to the on-stage thing. A lot depends on a given person's strength's and weaknesses. I don't know if Scott is having a getting a song ready issue or more of a lack of ability to sing some of the songs he has tried issue (some of the out of range problems I have seen makes me think he may not know how to pick a song that is in his range issues). But he is on my list of people who did well in the begining, but have been a dissapointment to me ever since.

Thank dawg Coco posted here or else I'd think the world has gone mad. C'mon people, this is perfect! First of all, Constanteenidol got a big ol' slice of humble pie. Don't worry, folks, he'll go Guariniing off into the sunset with a recording contract. I can now watch Idol without being ogled by him (because obviously he was looking right.at.me). Good riddance. Secondly, the Scott debacle shouldn't be such a big surprise. As Paula said in a remarkable moment of sobriety tonight -- this happens every year. An undeserving Idol keeps on keeping on week after week. Yes, there is a flaw in the voting process which the producers refuse to fix. Again, the appropriate response would be to vote like crazy for the underdog right through to the end in hopes that the producers get stuck with a dud, because that would just look good on them. A few threaten to do this, but evidently there is no mass revolt because each year the dud eventually loses and a talented person "wins" which means losing their whole identity in the big AI recording contract and they get to sing cheesy songs for a living instead of nurturing their creative individuality and promoting their DAWness on their own terms. In this sense, I really, really hope that my Bo does not win!

I'm here on the West Coast, and keep looking at my calendar praying it's April 1st and all of you are playing an April Fools prank.God I hate this show. Every bleeping year. I happened to catch Nashville Star over the weekend, and then watched the finale last night. And a strong, talented, intelligent, consistent and likable performer won. I don't like country music - but it sure was good to see a 'fair' show. (Of course, every one I saw in the show was talented enough to deserve a win, but I did miss the first few shows.) I'm done with Idol. Now it's nothing more than a very frustrating waste of my time. Idiots. Thanks for saving me the pain of watching it tonight... Kim D P.S. I find it scary that so many voted for Scott - I'd sure love to hear that it was all a mistake...

Coming out of lurkdom to add my two cents worth..... Could the news that Constantine's band got a contract have anything to do with people not voting for him? Or perhaps thinking he was safe?Complacency has a lot to answer for in these "viewer voting" shows. Ok, back into hiding now Magic & Sparkles Nats

As when Bo was in the bottom 3, Constantine's fan were definitely complacent. Additionally Simon did not tell Constantine to pack his bags. That would have energized his base for sure.

ya you do have a point... i mean i was a little dissapointed with constantines performance last night, but i never thought america would vote for scott over constantine... especially after what simon said. i think some ppl vote for scott just to dis simon! i dont like the multiple voting coz you dont really know whether that many people actually voted or if it was just someguy who had a cell phone and was really bored! well at least bos still in there. AI needs a rocker to win this thing. - nicky
