I really wasn't feeling the girl who was eliminated either. It seemed rather ridiculous to me that she was expecting praise from her partner when she lacked effort in what she was doing!
The only problem I saw was that he wasn't as emotionally supportive as he could have been after her interview. But that can be chalked up to his "geekhood". If you don't deal with women much I can totally see not knowing what to do when one is all emotional. That's something he can improve on in time.
