Couldn't see the Promo -- I'll bet it's the old U.S. can't see Canada videos thing again. I hope to find the show on the internet again this year. I loved watching Tara Jean last year.

Blake really needs to get over himself. Really. I could have choreographed that. Way to phone it in, Blake.

I've been mostly watching this season but can't get into it. I'm starting to tell the contestants apart and am getting people I like and dislike but I'm still not eagerly looking forward to each episode. Perhaps it's Leah Miller (who's terrible and did something to her lips that looks a little scary), perhaps it's all the product placements or perhaps it's that our judges can't critique worth a darn and they all keep saying "I love you" to each contestant or even the inevitable exhortations to vote. Please! You're turning me off. Maybe I'm just busier than last year, though, I think overall, the dancers this year aren't as good as last year. That said, there have been a number of good routines. The bollywood from week one was a refreshing change from the nearly identical bollywood style that is done in the US shows was one. I've consistently liked Sean Cheesman's routines. (Last year's St. James' Infirmary piece was especially fantastic)
Ah well, maybe it's dance overload. I'll still watch and hopefully, I'll have someone to root for. I know that I lost interest in Season 7 when Alex left because I no longer had a favourite to cheer for, so maybe it's that.

The performance show started off well. Claudia & Edgar's mambo was very entertaining. Edgar pulled off all the humour elements very well (things like completing a trick and then looking at the audience and winking making everything look nonchalant.) Nathalie and Mackenzie were good. Not sure why Nathalie was supposed to be Mia though. I'm not overly fond of them as a couple but they are certainly talented. Amanda & Denys had house. This routine felt a little uninspiring for me. Yes, the footwork is tricky and fast enough but I just don't think that House compares favourably to the other dances. They were in the bottom three but these have, imo, been the most versatile dancers so far. I've enjoyed all their routines (though I missed last week's quick step). Charlene & Jeff. Another good couple that has been strong week in and week out. I liked the routine. Jeff did some pretty amazing strength moves. But they wound up in the bottom 3. Janick & Shavar. This was decent. The couple doesn't excite me though. I wonder if this is the couple that the judges thought should have been in the bottom 3 and weren't. Danielle & Sebastian. I've liked this couple. Last week, as I recall, they had a very strong dance. This week not so much, however, they are memorable whereas I find a lot of the other dancers resemble each other (Amanda and Kristen for example) Kristen & Jesse. Personally I didn't like the routine and I was ready for these two to go home, which they did. The judges liked the routing and clearly didn't want the three that were in the bottom to be in the bottom. Jesse even said "come on Canada get it right". If that's the case, there must be some couples that are seen on the inside as 'should go home now'. Kloe & Jonathan. To me this piece was similar to the beach one. It just seems lightweight. I certainly didn't see any disco moves at all (well, maybe one). They could have called this style almost anything. This is another couple that I could see going soon. Maybe this is the couple the judges wanted to have go? If so, why have they been given the pimp spot two of the last 3 weeks? Anyhow. That's my take on the evening. I missed the group routine. In fact, I think I've missed all the group routines (except the Mia Michaels one - which I very much enjoyed). Have they been good?

Thanks for the update We finally got tv back in time for Survivor (which involved me convincing the telus person it was critically important for me to get the correct registration code as I was having people over for a Survivor party, so I jumped the queue). I was really blown away by season one, from what I've seen of this season, not so much. I think the choreography has been weaker and this has done a disservice to the dancers. I don't think I am a prude, but I really don't need to see simulated sex positions and actions on the stage.

25. "Final Four Performances" |
Wow. Great show last night! All four couples dances were very good. Some of the best of the season. Actually, one of the best dances of the season was the one in the promo with Nico and Tara Jean. Maybe they'll do that one in the finale?I think it says something if you want to reach through the tv and punch someone but that was the feeling I had toward Jeff during the spousal abuse number. And Jeff's always such a pleasant fun guy. I do have to agree that as far as ballroom guys being able to do other styles, I don't think I've ever seen anyone as good as Denys. I'm not sure whether it will help him or hurt him that all the judges basically said that they think he should win. I happen to agree with the judges. I just don't know whether that was a good idea. So, Montreal and Lethbridge have had winners. Is it Toronto's turn? I have to say that I don't think I haven't liked one of Sean Cheesman's pieces yet. I think the only other choreographer I can say that about is Wade Robson. Stacey Tookey is also very consistent while Sabrina Matthews and Nico look like they've got some good stuff too. All in all, a very enjoyable evening last night.

31. "and the winner is..." |
Tonight was the finale. Pretty good show, with lots of numbers from the season. I was glad they included some of the group numbers, as I found some of those the best of the season (including Mia Michael's number with all the chairs). Also a marriage proposal, which seemed to spoil a lot of make-up. After millions of votes, the top 2 were... .. .. .. ... .. .. .. . . . . Amanda and Denys. No surprise for me - IMO these were the best two all season. And the winner is.. . . . . . . . Denys. IMO the best dancer from any of the seasons or countries (my runner-up would probably be Jakob from a couple of seasons ago in the US). I wasn't sure that his personality would have made him favourite dancer, but I certainly think Canada voted for the best. Good season. I hate the way all these shows dish out the superlatives (best season ever?) but certainly another good season.
