"Big Brother 11 Live Feeds Week 5: Chima and the Coup D'Etat" |
Chima has won the HoH competition based on the messages from those that got played in the cage Wednesday night. Also, Jeff had won the Coup D'Etat and chose not to overthrow Russell's nominees, so he only has this week left to use it or for the second of two times, the Coup will be rendered impotent.........

The POV is important this week. It's the second shield from the Coup. HoH is the other one. The holder of those two positions are immune from the Coup, and can't be nominated if Jeff exercises it.

Just found this site obviously a newbie. I guess the best thing to do is jump in and test the waters. So here goes.If things shake out as they seemingly shouldn't/wouldn't Russ and Lydia be on the block this week? If that's the case unless he wins POV wouldn't this week be the perfect week to back door Jesse with Jeff's coupe power by taking Russ down and leaving Lydia up with now Jesse. Jeff-Jordan-Kevin-Michelle and then Russ should/would vote to evict Jesse. Plus Chima can't vote Jesse couldn't vote leaving only Nat to support him. At least that's how I would play it out........ Even if those aren't the nominations as long as Jeff-Jordan-Michelle stay together and Jesse is Jeff's target he's in real trouble. In the long run having Chima as the HOH is a really bad thing for Jesse this week. POV might be the only way to save him.

Hi Curt, welcome to RTVW! Who are your favorites this season?Over at Jokers they are saying based on BB7 Coup D'Etat details, Jeff would not get a vote. Chima wouldn't vote because she's HOH unless there is a tie. Say Jeff voids Chima's noms with the CDT and puts up Jesse and Nat (assuming neither were in the POV comp or won the comp if they played). So 9 people: 1 HOH, 1 CDT, 2 noms...that leaves 5 to vote. Chima won't get to vote. Jordan/Kevin/Michelle vote out Jesse. Could it be? Woo hoo! Or Nat...I'd take either one at this point. If I were Jeff, I would talk within my group (Jordan, Michelle, Kevin) about the time BB pulled the fast forward...and what if they were suddenly HOH who would they put up and who would they vote for? That way he can get consensus from that group about the likely noms and can help steer the vote, too, so when he does the CDT, they already know what to do!

I'm in the it-doesn't-matter-who-Chima-noms this week camp because we know she won't put Jess and Nat on the block (so they are less likely to play in the POV! --one can hope).I think the hamsters have figured out that Ronnie didn;t have CDT and neither did Jesse, Nat or Michelle. They could guess that Russ has it, or any of K-L-M-J-J. Wonder how long it will take them to get there...that Chima's noms could be voided. They don't even know 4 sure what the power is...only Jeff knows for sure. (yeah!)

Looking good for Jeff to win this game based on who is left in the house if he can hang in with the twists and turns over the next few weeks. Compliments of Agman:

I am hoping Chima nominates Lydia and Jeff, or Lydia and Kevin and then tries to backdoor Russell, by taking one of her noms off the block. This would give Jeff a chance to use the CdT power, and would show Russell where he really stands with Jesse/Nat/Sheema. Then, of course, I want Jeff to nominate Jesse and Nat. (or at least one of them, if one of them wins the POV), but in a perfect world I'd like to see them both nominated last minute. If this happens, I CANNOT WAIT to see Jesse and Nat's reaction. Or the rest of the houseguests reactions...this will be priceless! I was never so happy to see someone I don't like win the HOH as I was last night!!! Thank you CBS for a good twist for the first time in ages! awesome sig pic created by syren

Knowing Jeff he wants as little trouble as possible. Unless Jordan or himself are on the block after the veto, he will not use it in my opinion. The reason for one is that he can`t play for HOH that thursday if he wins. The CdE is to replace the HOH and nominate 2 other people, and then they go straight to voting one of the 2 new nominees out. Which to means that Chima is no longer HOH and could be put up she would have no priveledges at all, it works like a fast forward almost. The HOH and Veto holder are turned over, a new "week" starts if Jeff uses CdE. Even if it is only for that 30 min till the next HOH competion. Why would he use it if Jordan or himself is not on the block and make enemies. If it would be me, I would rather play for HOH for week 6.

I heard it in the in both live shows, that the 'power' is that he will be a "short timed' HOH, and then replace the nominees. Maybe I am misunderstanding, as anybody DVR`d the thursday show? I already erased mine. Maybe somebody can listen to when Jeff is in the DR room when he reads his card. Plus I heard the HOST , what is her name, explain it last week thursday when the voting began. She said "replace the HOH"

OK so... I went back to the CBS website and checked on the Show and replayed the show. The CdE is revealed on min 22:00 with Jeff in the DR. It says: ....once in a lifetime .... Overthrow the HOH and even make your own nominations.... So I like that much better.... glad I was wrong.... he can overthrow the HOH nominations and put his own 2 people up he wants out of the house......... Yeeehaaa. I am sooo happy now.

>He's asking Russell hypothetically if Natalie/Jessie >were up, who'd he evict? > Russell chose Jesse (even >though Russell thinks he's an >odd-on favorite to get nominated) > > >Jeff then said something along the >lines of "hope for a >change" and "it's not official >until it's official....." First, thank you to those who were kind enough to welcome to the boards, it was appreciated. I'm pulling for Michelle so far. Although I do like Jeff and believe Jordan is a sweetheart.
This is only the second season of watching BB the first being season 7. I don't know about anyone else but the first night I tried to pick people whom I thought I would bond with. Those people were Michelle-Casey & Jeff. Enough about that on to the matter at hand. So far so good step one is done. Chima has done the expected in nominating Lydia and Russell. The next step is for JEFF to shut his mouth about game play. When speaking to Russ assure him he has his vote but nothing else. Jeff's biggest dilema would be if he plays in the POV does he make it look good or go all out to win the thing. By going all out and winning POV you assure yourself of Jesse's demise. On the negative side of things you have a HUGE target on your back for a day or two regardless of if you choose use it or not. If you don't go all out and Jesse wins POV then you have left a dangerous player in the game. Lastly, if Jesse does not win POV, then on Thursday night. Jeff should take Russ down proving to Russ his word is/was good. He should also leave Lydia up also assuring Kevin's vote will be for Jesse. Nat gets the pass this week under this version. If Jesse were to win POV same version only with Nat taking the place of Jesse.

Welcome Curt, nice theorizing. But whoever wins POV, even if it is Jessie, there will still be a target that the Michele/Jeff/Kevin/Jordan alliance can agree on. Either Jessie or Nat will be available no matter what, so Jeff will (unless he pulls some weird stunt, and he's been pretty predictable so far) have to use the CdeE power regardless of who wins the POV, or how they use it. This week, either Jessie or Nat will go. I would think that for his sanity he'd try and get Nat out first, the prospect of living in the house with both Chima and Nat screaming at everyone would be a daunting one. For myself, I hope Jessie goes because I would enjoy watching that chaos.

Hi I am new at this so forgive me if I do something wrong. On the Power Coup D'etat, didn't Julie state the holder may use it to replace either nominations with his/her choice. We are only assuming he can not choose(HOH) Chima. Wouldn't that blow if he put her and Nat/jessie up. But are we sure he cannot? Jessie/Nat would be a great choice. Getting rid of Natalie will break down Jessie some, getting rid of Jessie now may be your only chance considering the way that side of the house keeps getting HOH. Russell is also a threat. Chima just gets on my nerves, so much yelling and drama. If Jessie really had Russell's back he wouldn't of been lying down during the Chima/Russell yelling match. The only partnership there is Natalie/Jessie.

Michelle is having a hard time keeping her stories straight. Jessie told Jeff and Jordan that Russell said that they are coming after he and Natalie. The same with them. It just shows that Russel is trying to cause a fight between them. But if I recall Jeff was planning on shaking up the house. So is Russell playing both sides? Is he really loyal to Jessie? It doesn't seem like it. Jeff/Jordan and Nat/Jess seem like the only ones that are teams.

Jessie is not loyal to Nat - he wants to take her to the final two because he knows the house dislikes her as much if not more than him and therefore he has a better chance of wining against her. I venture to guess the second person he would want to be in the finals with is Lydia for the same reason

OK, I keep reading about Chima threatening to go gonzo if the CDT is used on Thursday, no one should mess with her power, etc. Then I read/see on Hamsterwatch that Chima is smiling in the middle of another Chima/Russ argument. There's a pic of it. Is this whole thing super staged? Did the DR tell Chima to stir the pot with Russell this week because her noms would get overthrown...and she and Russ really have a partnership...and she knew that he would be safe even if she put him up? And the whole stir the pot on Thursday threat is more manufactured drama? If she winked at him in the their last fight (the one by the stairs) then either it didn't mean anything because she does want him out...or it did mean we know this is fake but keep it up. I am confused about the whole Russ/Chima interaction/relationship. We know Russell goes around lieing...so which is it? Who is he really with or is he the consummate floater? I wonder how much the DR is telling them to go out and earn their $$ and create some drama for TV.

78. "Comparing Russell and Ronnie's game." |
I think Ronnie used the worst strategy I've ever seen, either on BB or Survivor. (meaning I include Shane, Dreamz and Jean RoBear!) I'm slightly impressed with Russell's strategy. That must mean that there is a difference between the two and I think it's a question of approach and personality.Ronnie approached two groups: Jesse's possee on one side and the Populars on the other. He pitted them against each other, making enemies in both camps. It was much too heavy-handed. I immediately thought he had absolutely no chance to pull it off. Russell approached individuals and made one-on-one deals. He still has a long way to go but I think he has a chance to go far. Look at Russell's deal with Jeff to see the enormous difference between his game and Ronnie's. Between Russell and Jeff, there was respect between the two competitors, each knowing that the other wants to win but able to come to terms on an immediate goal. Ronnie never respected his opponents and it showed. As far as personality goes, Russell comes across as a confident man who understands the difference between the game and real life. His explanation to Chyma reflected that even if she couldn't look passed it. Ronnie came across as having a Napoleon complex where he'd do anything to win and it was only about the win.

>Decree/Request from Queen Chima who's paranoid >about the Wizard Power (Coup >D'Etat).......... She's afraid that >if Lydia came down and >she put up, say..... Jeff >or Jordan? that would >guarantee the activation of the >power! just another sign that these people have no clue as to the strategy behind this game. Let's see: -They think that Jeff may have the power -They think that the power can be used to save a nominee and that Chima can choose a replacement -They suspect that Jeff may have a deal with Russel -They KNOW that Jeff and Jordan are close -They KNOW that Kevin and Lydia are friends Wouldn't the smart move be to have Kevin use the POV and remove Lydia, and Chima put up Jordan. That way, if their suspicions are right, Jeff would have to use the power to remove Jordan, and they could put Lydia back up (or Michelle). If their suspicions were wrong about the power, they would be forcing Jeff to vote to evict Russell. That would guarantee a tie in the votes, at the worst, and Chima could evict Russell.

If Kelvin and Lydiot have a deal with Gnat, Chima and Jesse then Jeff has to use the power to break them up. If not, he'll wind up on the short end of a 5-3 split.

92. "RE: Veto" |
LAST EDITED ON 08-11-09 AT 10:16 AM (EST)I think Kevin has narrowed down the list of “who has the power” suspects. Jeff should be his main suspect, if for no other reason than Jeff is (per editing) shown as the least agitated about that situation. Iceman. But there are other less subjective reasons. It should be obvious, even to them, that the Chima/Jessie/Nat alliance doesn't have the power, or else it would have been used last week. Oddly, they are guessing (or at least they are shown to be) it to be Jordan? I think everyone has a pretty good gauge of Lydia and her inability to hide her emotions, so it's pretty obvious that she doesn't have it. She’s not capable of faking not having the power, and after living with her for a few weeks, everyone should know this. And being her best girlfriend in the house, Kevin surely has discounted her being the power holder. The same applies to Jordan, she's less demonstrative, but as we've seen in her convo.s with Jeff, she's really worried. If she's acted that worried in front of alliance mate Kevin too, he has probably discounted her as having the power. So far, she hasn't been anything but open emotionally, and it's probably because she (unfortunately for her chances in the game) doesn't have a low down lying personality, and it should be obvious to the others. Again, I think Kevin is perceptive enough to pick up on this. Leaving Michele, Kevin and Jeff, all/either of whom could be successfully holding a big secret, and Kevin knows it isn't him. So part of the reason for Kevin not using the Veto on his BGFFL apart from his gaming (mentioned in the other posts, and are also probably very valid theories) is that he strongly suspects that either Michele or Jeff have the power, and that they will use it to replace Chima's nom.s with their own. And Jeff's noms and Michele's noms would likely be the same, (Russell might also be a possible alternate), and would agree with Kevin's preferences. So why show his hand? Jeff's editing has shown him to be a pretty consistent guy, making level headed decisions. One might question the decision to let Russell have the HoH, but he didn't get burned, so it turned out to be a good decision afterall. He made a good judgement of Russell in spite of the audience's (and undoubtedly Kayser's) collective gasp at that point. Whew! So I'm thinking he will make the wise decision and use it to put up Nat and Jessie, as Kevin suspects that he will. Michele has been pretty predictable as to her team loyalty (in spite of Ronnie's idiotic opinion), so even if she has the power (in Kevin's estimation), he may be guessing that she'll also use it to name Jessie and Nat (or maybe Russell) and overturn Chima's noms. And I'm hoping he/she will too, and that Jessie goes home. Because the uproar in the house what with the volatile Chima and Nat facing the reality of being powerless, and the equally volatile Lydia and Russell being their verbal opponents, it should make for quite a week. If DR has any influence over events in the house, I would suspect taht they would be trying to engineer this also, becasue a dull boring house is not a ratings maker.

Jeff should use the Coup because if he does he will win over friends for the rest of the game in Russell and Lydia. I am sure Kevin will enjoy it also. Jessie and Nat were going to be on the other side of the house anyways. Same with Chima and she can not win HOH next week, so only one parson could put him on the block next week. These friendships would not only help in keeping himself from not being nominated, but also may be future votes in the finals. My other point, is what makes you all think that if Nat and Jessie are the two nominees that Jessie would be the one going home? Lydia wants Nat out. Kevin will go along with that. That is two votes. Who knows how Jeff, Jordan and Michelle would vote.?

Minor correction: There are no friends in this game, only temporary allies and enemies. Even showmance couples will turn on each other. And assuming Nat, Chima, and Jessie are picked off one by one (in any order) in the next few weeks as seems likely at the moment, the real drama will come when these "friends" start plotting for end game, and how to stab each other in the back without alienating the jury. And will pure luck upset the best laid of plans? It is possible, and it has happened in the past, that minority hamsters have staved off elimination by going on HoH and POV runs. Of the three in danger at the moment, I would guess that Chima has the best chance of doing this, but who knows? And it’s a long shot.

LAST EDITED ON 08-12-09 AT 10:02 AM (EST)Ok. After watching tonight's show, I agree, Kevin really doesn't have a brain cell. His thinking had nothing at all to do with the Power. Jordan's been hogging the cell, I suppose. Hard to tell there. My attempt at an intellectual dissection of his thinking was pure foolishness, and I should be made to eat post #92. What could I have been thinking? I'm also beginning to really suspect that Snidget is right too, Jeff will screw up the CDE. Lydia's sense of entitlement was pretty predictable.

LAST EDITED ON 08-11-09 AT 04:48 PM (EST)Last night Chima was selling an all girls alliance to the girls "I want a woman to win" and Russell was selling against it to Jeff and Jesse "you get two feminists together and...". So Chima is planning for when Jesse is gone, lol. Don't know if it will hold. Lydia has been so hung up on Jesse that even his voting against her didn't put her off of him. I think Michelle agrees to be agreeable but isn't showing what she really wants. Jeff should be using the CDT. It was a big signal from America to do *something* and J/N/C is a bigger cohesive group than any other in the house. Otherwise there are just twosomes and alliances of convenience.

Jeff says that J/J/M are f'd anyway so why wouldn't he use the magic power if he had it? They all agree they want Jesse gone if he could get "wizzed out of here" (lol). You're right about Nat and Chima, though. If Nat were to win the next HoH after Jessie were booted through the Coup, Jeff and Russell could count on being nominated. But that's a risk that can't be avoided. It's not really that much of a risk when you figure that Nat would be putting up Jeff anyway (Chima obviously can't play this week). And, eliminating Jesse with the Coup is a bonus, since that's one less HOH competitor gunning for Jeff next week who surely will be targeting him if he wimps out and doesn't use the power. The years have told me, *waves to Marcellas* that these people lose any brains they may have had a soon as the game starts, so like you, AyaK, I'll believe Jeff will use the power when I see it. (though I am hopeful since the producers have decided to tape the evictions. I'm sure they get an early commitment from Jeff so they know what to expect, and the taping makes me think they expect it to be used)

Yeah, I was thinking about the need for extra farewells last night when Nat was bragging about her farewell message to Russell ... although Chima thinks that it's because of her threats, or at least that's what she told Kevin. The hamsters had a jury party where the have-nots were permitted to eat for the two-hour duration of the party. Jeff ate and then said he was tired from all the food and went to bed. The hamsters were all (except for Jeff and Russell) in the HoH room and took turns saying "I have the mystery power" to show that they don't have it (as saying you have it supposedly negates it). They conclude that Jeff must have it, if anyone does. Jeff spends the whole night downstairs in bed without going up to HoH. <P.S. I would expect that Big Brother must have anticipated this contingency; it wouldn't surprise me if the holder of the power is permitted to say "I have the power" in a situation like that without penalty.> Russell spent the night mumbling to the camera about how hot he thinks one of the production crew is. Ironically, she is also named Michelle, and he then had to clarify which Michelle he was talking about. Basically, it seemed like he'd given up. Little does he realize.... Nat kept trying to spy on J&J. The hamsters still think she's 18. Dumb hamsters.

Its very possible there will be no extra farewells, just as when they have a fast forward week. They could also just have Jeff make a nice NA NA NANANA farewell to the 2 he plans to put up, that would be kinda cool.

Now I'm ticked off. This was probably done because of Chima's threats to blow up. If it were to make room for the Coup, the audience would have been notified sooner than a day or two beforehand. Rather than show her blow up, they will cut out all or most of it, because of their fear of the FCC. We will not be witnessing any Chima tantrums. Since the feeds will be blocked, we won't see it. In fact, the feeds will be blocked all day and all night until around 9:30 eastern, which means that we won't get to see the immediate HoH aftermath. We might hear snippets of what really happened during the coup and subsequent vote, but the HG's initial excitement and chit-chat will be more subdued by the time the feeds come back up six hours after-the-fact. So we'll get some obscure references and no detail because by then it will have been hashed and re-hashed. So, what we'll get, is BB editing. Kind of like POV ceremonies, when HG's supposedly make speeches that incite anger, but we only hear about it after the fact and never get the real story because it's been edited out. Tonight's show would have been epic. *sigh* *moment of silence for what might have been*

How about throwing the Coup followed by an unannounced fast forward. They'd have to edit to squeeze all of that into one hour. The show really needs more twists and surprises, new ones every season that had not been used before.

I don't think there will be a fast forward or anything else like that. I think this is all just about building up to the Coup D'Etat, ...starting with the usual recap, the HOH interview, laying the foundation of where the house stands, doing the CDT, the reactions, the live vote, the eviction and Jesse making some sort of statement as he leaves the house, the post eviction reaction, Julie's interview, and then the HOH comp. That's a lot to cram into one hour. And if they threw in a fast forward or double eviction, "America" would be confused. Plus, they need to have some drama for future weeks. So they pushed filming up? They want to get all the juicy reactions on film...and set up the editing to further the story they *want* us to follow. They have favs and they are either being helped with this filming today or being protected by doing it this way.

From thefutoncritic.com when the new shows start. They didn't have a when BB ends or how many episodes left.n.c.i.s.: los angeles* (sep. 22) survivor (season 19, sep. 17) the amazing race (season 15, sep. 27) BB Finale probably Sept 15 or Sept 13 Aug 13 down to 8 Aug 20 down to 7 Aug 27 down to 6 Sept 3 down to 5 Sept 10 down to 4 (usually have 3 at the last regular HOH IIRC and the winner of the 3 picks who goes with them) To finish up before the 17th they will probably need one doubled up week. I think they'll do that next week or the week after to spread some ratings grabbing drama out.

It depends on the ratings. BB's ratings have been improving as the drama has kicked up. I know that CBS is nervous about NCIS: L.A., and so I expect that BB will end just prior to its debut unless the ratings tank.
