I may regret this vote, and you can all taunt me if I am wrong, but I am voting for John. It has nothing to do with the injury, whatever it is. First, I think the fix is in, and we will see an IC that Maraamu will win, whether it is because it is a subjective challenge (e.g., SOS), or one heavily tilted towards a team with fewer members (e.g., maze). Editing also leads me to believe that none of the Maraamu members is going next.
If Rotu loses, then who goes? I think the following people are safe, based on editing and/or tribe dynamics (what little we’ve seen): Neleh, Paschal, Gabe, Tammy, Zoe.
Robert could conceivably go, because of his illness/injury, but I think that by this time, he would have been given more facetime by now. Even if he’s done nothing around camp because he hasn’t been feeling well, he’s still done confessionals, and they could have given him more facetime just as a narrator. Yes, Jessie was voted out for illness without much facetime, but that was in the second episode, while we are up to the third. I think by now, there has to be a little more set-up for the boot.
It’s also very possible that Kathy could go, but I don’t think she will. It’s partly because it’s “too obvious,” but sometimes they are obvious (see Kimmi, Lindsey, Frank), so that’s not really a good answer. It’s more because I think, despite her early run-in with her tribe, they got over their annoyance with her.
After the confrontation with the group, when Kathy was practically in tears, Tammy said she felt bad, and that their intention wasn’t to hurt her feelings (or something like that). Gabe called her out on her behavior, but then said he would do what he could to “assuage her worries.” Then, they all came together and built the hut to make her happy. If they really didn’t like her and wanted her gone, I think they would have said screw that, we’ll build the hut when we damn well feel like it, and no blond b!tchy person is going to tell us what to do. Finally, they’ll probably realize that, annoying as she is, they’ll still want to keep her around for a while to be the food provider.
John, on the other hand, certainly fancies himself the food provider, but he is so not. What has he done so far? He built a pig snare that he said “worked perfectly,” despite the fact that the pig was able to set it off without getting caught. Well, I don’t know what kind of bizarro planet John lives on, but where I come from, that’s the textbook definition of “didn’t work at all.” He also thinks he’s all that because he caught one shimp. One! And Gabe mocked him for it. I suspect the others may be doing the same. At least Kathy can back up her words with actual food.
Whenever we’ve seen confrontations involving Kathy, John’s been the one who’s clashed with her the most. I can see the tribe feeling bad for Kathy, and blaming John for making the problems worse. I also haven’t really seen any real interactions between John and anyone else. We have no idea if he has bonded with anyone or made any alliances yet. Could it be because he has none?
In order to vote John out, they wouldn’t even have to have a majority. Perhaps it will be our first tie vote, and we will finally see how they are going to resolve the ties. Maybe it’s a food-finding competition or a quiz about food finding, and of course Kathy would kick John’s @ss.
Finally, I really think the editing supports John being booted. He’s gotten a ton of facetime. He stated that if he catches a pig, he’ll be in the final four. But he didn’t catch a pig, did he? No final four for you, John. (And wouldn’t it be funny if his final four spot goes instead to the actual food provider, Kathy, the one we all think should be voted out.)
Well, I’ll probably be wrong, but it makes a good story, doesn’t it?
