"SYTYCD 8 Top 12 Performance ECST "
Down to a dozen, sounds like top 10 we go to dancing with the all-stars. So last week of couples live and die together. Maybe we will see a couple split up before they are split up? Probably not. So this week starts my conference calls that do not end until 8:30. If it is easier I can just start in once I get back to the DVR, or if anyone wants to take point for the first 30-40 minutes they can have at.

Powerful, Sasha is dressed as a matador as well as Alexander.
Nigel: The choreographer decided to keep the woman strong - Sasha was strong. Great character Alexander was good too, sloppy at the end, but good.
Mary: Can I get an Ole! Sasha id fearless! Alexander may have had a breakthrough.
Jesse: Heard there was trouble with the bejeweled bra in rehearsal, kept falling off, as they a prone to do (apparently he has first had knowledge of bras falling off).
Sonya: Sasha, you rock my socks! I believe in powerful women! Alexander - worried about him stepping up, felt he did a good job but was also a bit sloppy.

I loved the dance, but Jordan did 9! leg lifts. And this is after they specifically told her last week to show that she can do more than develope after develope.
Looking back, this was my favorite dance of the night -- very powerful choreography. It reminded me somewhat of the Hummingbird and the Flower routine (maybe because there's birds in both of them, and they combine a female Contemp. with a male HH/BBoy?). Travis admitted he made up a lot of it on the spot based on the dancers' strengths, and obviously Jordan got her leg lifts in.

Ryan standing in the door was awful. I kept thinking of Cyd Charisse in Singin' in the Rain--Cyd would have owned that door, but Ryan just stood there like a lump.

I hope people appreciate how difficult the choreography was (and I am not talking about the lifts either). It is so rare to have ballroom choreography where the people are stepping inside partner. Watch the beginning section again.

I was really looking forward to your review of that tango, because when I watched it, I adored it (and I freely admit that I also adore Louis van Amstel. The man knows how to get the best out of dancers.)
I don't really know much about tango, but I could tell that this was some excellent choreography. I also loved that Melanie and Marko got pushed - hard - and that they rose to the occasion.

The music was captivating, too.

Mary--You guys are amazing just the way you are. Had me dancing in my seat. CP. Love the song, self acceptance, such a struggle. Dancing, Clarice you have this pause and swag that is exactly the same, you guys got the swag of this type of hip hop.
Jesse--I didn't care for it, happy opposite day. Wants to marry Clarice. You have this light within, you make me happy, Jess I always want you to stay in because I wanted to meet you and say you are awesome.
Sonya--you are so adorable, and CP. Defined the groove, just slayed it.
Nigel--CP beautifully danced, Resistance against the movement and then got the bounce and funk then I started to like it. C Advice.

Couple of nice lifts but otherwise kinda meh for me.
Jesse. I'd have to take a rest too. Melissa did This woman's Work, with her, did my favorite routine a few weeks ago. I'm a fan. I'm a maverick, this came out of the shadow of that number, was beyond, my favorite number tonight, tell your sister I said hi.
Sonya. CP with swearing. Alexander this is what I have been praying and hoping for this whole season. Keep the shell broken, you killed it. Sasha you made it happen and it still made sense.
Nigel. Keep it real. For a few weeks Alexander Sasha has carried you, but not tonight kid. I don't know what has happened this week, here this was the best I've seen you dance. Sasha extremely strong, the only shaky thing was that lamp post.
Mary. Agree with everything. Alexander had a break through night, relaxed way of moving, before everything too tight and perfect. Enjoyable to see you have this night, I don't have to worry anymore.
Nigel. Just at the week we are breaking up the chemistry comes together.

Sonya. I'm sorry, I love both of you and Spence, felt underwhelmed, it was a jumble of things. I'm just breaking it down, awkward. I didn't see your abilities and your craft but I love both of you.
Nigel. I thought it could have been a little quirkier, you can be a bit sillier. Back in the day Toni Basil used to do quirky routines like this, brought more character into it. Lost the characters with the lifts and when into the dance, it is OK. I needed more to push people aside to make sure you are in the top 10.
Mary. Have to find a way to really make it work, just wasn't strong enough. More like cotton candy compared to the first routine.

Looked like Ryan was trying too hard.
Nigel. Ricky did a good job, kept your feet underneath, hips were terrific, style and class. Ryan over egging the pudding, bring your feet together. Not going behind, but to the side, a little bit sloppy.
Mary. Holy smokes that was the fastest Cha Cha I've ever seen. Ryan I have to agree with Nigel, it just got sloppy as you went along, the feet got sloppy, not tidy down below. Ricky, I don't know who you are, from the second you started in so tight so clean, you were really living the Cha Cha, hot spicy, Putting Ricky on the Hot Tamale Train.
Jesse. Whole Mary side is numb. Ryan you are flirting with me. I don't have authority but you need to be on the HTT. Ricky this is my favorite of the season.
Sonya. Ricky you were celebrating it. Ryan the pressure and the conviction gets mixed up, just want you to embrace how wonderful you are.

I think Sasha and Alex are safe (Alex really did well last nite but I still think he should not be t10 but this happens every year one person cruises into t10 on back of partner)
I think b3 will be Cait/Mitch (for 1st dance), R/R and Tadd/Jordan with Mitch and Ryan going. But it could be Jordan. I think Ricky stays in based on Cha Cha (he was great) and probably his kick a$$ solo tonite

Mary. Slightly naughty, a little intense, gutsy and I loved it. She hit him, payback from the nose. Catch with the knee flip over, jump into a split, would ahve landed on top of her, solid as can be. Loved the whole thing.
Jesse. Never dance like that in a forest to prevent forest fires. I have those boots in red. It was fantastic.
Sonya. That was really really hot. Caitlynn Dang. You shouldn't be that hot you are a baby, it scares me. Mitch I love you, but sometimes I don't know where you are, it was an amazing piece, in the partnering you lose your intention. Indulge when it gets complicated, overall was sick.
Nigel. I agree with that. Don't lose what it was all about. Doesn't want to incriminate self as a dirty old man. When you looked at us, should have been in the argument.

Nigel. Love it..you got those really nice legs, really high kick on Jess, uncomfortable in the lifts, rest was good, would have like a bit more energy in parts. Needs people to vote.
Mary. Leg kicks fabulous, missed the joy, legs showing the joy but not enough animation in Jess, Clarice had it. Never let up.
Jesse. Have to agree, I thought you were fantastic, not the mayor of Broadway, make NPH give you the keys. Very fun, say something as a fan of the show. Cat Deeley you are one of the greatest reality show hosts and deserve to be recognized.
