While it isn't always a young thing, I do wonder if he just couldn't channel the stress and adrenaline from the competition properly. Until you learn to use that in a way that works for you it can muck up the performance. People usually do learn that over time, and you can train for it specifically. There was an NPR about a class a Julliard where they do that. I think it was one of the more amazing seasons...FAR better than the boring lot of last season! (well, except Brandon) This season had amazing talent and personalities. I am glad Russell won. He had the right personality, the humility and the grace to win people's hearts. It's about America's favourite dancer..not the best...so the best typically never wins. I think back to the last several seasons and it is obvious that the "best" dancer never won (Brandan, Will, Katie...etc..) So, that is the way it works. Russel did an amazing job...especially for a krumper, and showed incredible growth. don't get me wrong..I ADORE Jakob, but I know he will do very, very well, and I think he may be one of the most brilliant dancers I have ever seen. He will get multiple job offers from companies...whereas Russell probably won't. So, chill out everyone ...it was a great season and I really enjoyed it. Strictly speaking about the season and not about the Russell win, I feel like we were watching different programs. That moment that Adam kept talking about never materialized for me. I wasn't emotionally attached to any of the dancers (though I admired many greatly) or any of the choreography. As others have mentioned the whole season felt rushed and forced. There were teeny, tiny moments for me (Legacy's crabcrawl thing, some of Ellenore's moves, the glimmer of a really good dancer we saw from Mollee while dancing with Jakob) but there wasn't one dance I replayed. And about the Russell win, I'm really not sure why I felt he wasn't the most popular. Obviously I was wrong, but I never thought he had such a big following. And, to add to all that, they picked 4 numbers from the 'meet the Top 20' night. I thought that was a little much. That said, the top 20 piece by Wade Robson was outstanding.
