I absolutely ADORE A Chorus line, and all the numbers in it. I saw it as a kid when it first ran, and I saw it again last summer in its revival, and I hated the choreography that was used on "One" tonight. It sucked all the soul out of the song and the passion and the desire of the people in that line. If that was Mia Michaels, well, she didn't get the show or the number. It was nice to hear the music, but the dancing to it was not worthy of the 100th show of SYTYCD. It could have been SO MUCH better.

I hate when they wear the ear piece when dancing as if you can sing and dance and control your breathing. I think if it has been pre-sold differently there wouldn't be the backlash. I mean my impression from when she filmed it (and I don't blame her for filming it when she had time rather than screwing everyone else over to do it live) was that judges thought it was the most wonderfulest ever, not because it was nice she did this for a charity but that she is the most amazing singer and dancer evah! She did a nice job of it, but nothing smacktabular. It is great she is involved in the charity, but that doesn't make all her performances the most talented thing anyone has ever seen any human do just because of the charity. Now if she had won Tony's and Grammys for singing and dancing I could see pimping her as the bestest ever, but she is far from a major triple threat and like I said, if they pre-sold it differently (and I understand that in the getting the charity going they couldn't say somethings in case stuff fell through) I think the response would have been a lot different. A "isn't this nice" build up gives a much different feel to "you will see the most amazing thing" when you respond to things. Over-building expectations is always going to lead to a let down.

It was a bit lame, but I'm so glad they showed those three dances! Too bad Fox couldn't have squeezed another hour or half hour into the schedule for them. I would have liked to have seen a small intro solo from the alumni that were there. Even if they were in pairs or groups from their season... would have been nice to have seen them highlighted a bit more than the film montage.

It would have been better to have the shorter show on Wednesday, with not as much fill, cut out the solos, etc. and use the longer time slot for the "celebration" showcasing more of the dances from the past. And Katie Holmes? Yawn. And omg, I hated Mia's interpretation of One from A Chorus Line. Of course, having seen the London cast, the NY Cast, and the LA cast of that wonderful show, I'm a bit fond of the original. LOL!
