Oh, I hope he doesn't tone it down. I love Lil C. There's a lot of substance to what he says but there's a certain poetry in how he says it.
ETA: It's better than Mary and her screaming. She's got a lot of substance behind some of her critiques, as well, but it's hard to take someone seriously when they're screaming and calling for the Hot Tamale Train!

That's true on both counts. I really like Li'l C and he was great last year, I just thought he went a little over the top with his metaphors this time - but not much.
And, with regard to Mary, it seems like the dancers get a real kick out of her screams. That's like the goal of the dance, it seems. Nigel was freaking hilarious last week when he pulled out the ear muffs as soon as Mary started talking about the train coming to town. I still laugh every time I see a clip of that.

I'm a little surprised Kayla & Maks are in the bottom 3 -- I predicted Randi & Evan -- but I put Randi & Evan ahead of Kayla & Maks, so I'm not upset. I didn't love their routine -- it was a little weird and more important, Kayla's costume was so weird, and I guess I wasn't the only one who didn't like it.

When Kayla was told that she was in the bottom three, her reaction was not an "oh carp" reaction, it seemed to be like "how dare they put moi in the B3?". Even in the lineup at the end, it seemed that her attitude was saying "well, I know you aren't going to cut me because I am the chosen one!"
Did anyone else think that her facial expressions were odd? I certainly didn't find it endearing and it didn't help my already unfavourable impression of her. I wonder how she'd handle a hip hop routine?

I hadn't heard of her either, but SYTYCD seems to like introducing new people so I'm not surprised by that. AI usually gets the has beens trying to be relevant again. SYTYCD seems to get the just about to be people.

I agree. Kayla and Max were a good couple and Max had two strong performances. I can't picture Kaypono together, but maybe I'll be surprised! But I am bummed - there was something about Max that I really liked.

Well, I'm stunned.
Jonathan is staying longer than Maks?? This does not bode well for the balance of ballroom/Latin routines that you know are coming. And the Latin dances are usually my favourites. SYTYCD Canada benefited from having two ballroom men make it through to the top 12. The paso doble by Francis/Natalie was very impressive. Oh well. And didn't they talk about diversity or dance styles before?
I also thought that Maks danced two good numbers whereas Kupono danced 1 good number. But I suppose it's going to be like this from now on. Difficult choice after difficult choice. Right now only Jonathan is a guy that I have no trouble cutting. And I can't really think of any girls but Caitlin and Karla, I think, could be in trouble next week.

As someone has said before, it's about the favorite dancer not the best. Unfortunately some of the better dancers are cut because they are less attractive or not as charming. Although a brilliant dancer, I'm afraid Max was both of those.

Overall I think the dancers this year are very talented and I really had no idea who was going to go home tonight. I didn't think I had a favorite, but after the bottom 3 couples were announced I said, "I don't care who goes home as long as it's not Kupono." I really like him. I love quirky and it doesn't hurt that he's gorgeous. Although, he looked kind of sickly tonight. I hope he's ok. I also like Kayla, but I knew there was ZERO chance that she'd be eliminated, so I didn't give her much thought. I'm really looking forward to seeing them as partners. I think they're going to be awesome together.
Something about Maks always struck me as vaguely skeevy, but I thought his solo tonight was great and he's done very well within the competition, so I was a little sad to see him go. It was such a tough choice for the guys though. I knew Ashley would be leaving because her solo was quite lackluster, but I was really pulling for all the guys. Results nights this year are going to be tough and unpredictable.

I think it's very interesting that 3 totally different couples than last week were bottom three. It seems the choregraphy was the deciding factor this week. Both of the couples in Shanes lackluster routines were there, & I love BFree but his routine was pretty far out there & was coupled with undeniably distracting costumes. Wade can be way out there as well, but at least everyone is familiar with crash test dummies.
