I watched it a few times. I wasn't sure if I liked it that much the first time. After the second time though, I was loving it. There was a lot going on. Too much to pay attention to in one viewing with that awful, awful camerwork. I can see a closeup here or there on each dancer but the spinning around and cutting the stage in half drives me insane.

I do often vote for those the judges don't like IF (big IF) I like them and feel the dumping on they get is completely unfair. Getting dumped on when other people are praised regardless of how I do does tend to motivate me to vote more for the underdog. I don't usually vote for Will that much because I don't like him as much as other people. If I'd voted for two guys this week he might have been the other guy, but the blatent favortism got me motivated to vote only for one guy. I usually vote for about 1/2 the field most weeks. ETA: I get you don't like Mark, but I do, a lot of other people seem to, and that doesn't make me fake. I know some people do vote just to screw with the show, but most of the people I saw here or other boards wanting to power vote for Mark have always liked him. Can't blame them for being more motivated than the Will voters were.

No, you are a real person, not a fake computer.I do think that using a system I guess like DialIdol, although I have never used that so I cannot say for sure that is what I am talking about, is much worse than say the judges over pimping someone to win. It takes the fairness out of the 'game'.
If someone uses something that repeatable dials for them, sometimes many more times than the average phone user can actually dial, then to me, it is cheating.
You do have one thing wrong though. Never have I said I did not like Mark. Never. I have said though that out of the dancers left he was the weakest. And he is. I also said that I like everyone that was left. I just feel that it was unfair to a dancer as skilled as Will to be voted out because the judges over pimped him instead of based on his skill set. As far as what you added, I never said you or anyone on this board was a fake person. But to clairify to me using a fake dialer is no better than fixing a ball game. It is a form of cheating. I have no idea if that is what dialidol is because I have never, and probably will never look at it or even use it. If I dial I will only do as much as what my fingers can do.

Basically it is the computer hitting redial instead of me doing it. Even at it's fastest setting it seems to take longer to notice it got through and get dialing again than I can do manually. I like that it keeps track of the busies vs votes as nights when I feel like I get busies all the time I can see that I am actually getting through more often than I thought I was. Which also motivates me to keep voting when I know sometimes the line really isn't busy every single time I vote. It also lets me not have to dial in the bathroom, or stay up past my bedtime.  I also like I can pick several people to vote for and don't have to have a list of phone numbers handy when I decide it is time to change from person A to person B then back again. Edit for clarity

I've seen people on VFTW.com say they have overseas call centers doing that, but I dunno if they really do. I don't know anything that redials a single phone line faster than a motivated tweenager. It still takes the same amount of time to send and connect no matter how fast it hangs up and redials. As long as AI and its associated programs allow unlimited voting people will find a way to get a phone to dial itself repeatedly rather that just hitting the redial. Like I said with dial idol it waits an amount of time to connect before redialing and that is usually more time than I need if I'm listening to the phone.
ETA. the one nice thing about dial idol (there is a thread with the numbers posted in AI and SYTYCD all the time) is that it also collects the busys vs votes from users. Not enough people use it for SYTYCD to get good data, but I like checking it ahead of time for spoiler info so I know if I likely need to get myself prepared or I can breath easy.

Where the whole mass voting thing really comes into play is computer-based voting. There is a trick to it. When you have to click to vote and then wait for it to register and bring you back to that voting screen... this happens a lot with those popularity kind of polls (who is your favorite Idol for example). I read somewhere how to do it (I think it must have been on an MJ board). It really made a HUGE difference in numbers. You could get 50 or more votes in before another person got in their second. (Which makes you wonder about Rock Star when you could do computer voting.)

Ivan♥'s latest video blog is up. Tyce is his special guest. Some interesting stuff. He talks about all the seasons (calls Season 2 "the heart and soul season") but the really interesting part comes at about 5:40.I love that people have different opinions. That's what makes us interesting. The anger towards Mark and his fans for him being safe is a little absurd though. I am very much a real fan who dialed with her fingers to rally behind my favorite. I am in no way a "fake" dialer. Benji WON season 2! How could anybody possibly be upset that Mark made it to the Final 6? Granted, I'd have rather seen Twitch go of the four left. He is good at what he does but these guys have to learn to dance all the styles. I feel he is by far the weakest one in that regard. So should I be mad at the people who voted for Twitch and saved him? In a perfect world, as Nigel said going into the Final 10, they could eliminate two girls. But. There will always be somebody upset at this point. Even if it was two girls leaving. One of your favorite or one of my favorites is going to leave every week. That's how this works. It's subjective. I love Mark. I think he is a very important, dare I say crucial, element of this season. You don't love Mark? Okay. But to say he is the worst of the four guys that WERE left, is untrue. He *gets* the differnt styles. He can be your least favorite but to say he's the worst just isn't true. Anyway. This is a show that's winner is America's Favorite Dancer. He is mine so I will vote for him. I love to watch the dancers that can do many different styles well. Thank God I'm not alone. If he does leave next week, I will vote for my second favorite and, I'm sorry to tell you all, that isn't Josh or Twitch either.

I think who goes home is who gets the least votes.Where the "fixing"/manipulation comes is in the choices made for contestants and what the judges do. Did anyone else catch the thing in the credits where they say it is all random? Have they always done that, or is that new to try to get the conspiracy theorists off their back? I know the dancers say there is only one card in the hat. Now they could pull random assignments until they get the one they want and then not let the dancers do the randomizing with all the names in the hat. Anywho. I don't believe the pairings or the dance choices are completely random (like I said you can pull the stuff out of a hat a few times until you get one you like). There is also things like dance order, who gets better lighting, etc. that can all be used to try to mess with the vote totals. I do think who gets the lowest votes goes home as I think that even though it is "entertainment" and not a "game show" I think the feds could make a deal of it if they just sent home who they wanted regardless of the votes. I do wonder if sometimes they may put someone that isn't bottom two in the bottom two in order to motivate the voters or to convince voters that someone is safe. If Mark was the other one in the bottom two, putting Twitch there in his place will motivate the Twitch voters and make sure Mark is out at F6. I do think Twitch is the secondary TCO with Will being the first TCO. Will because he'll be good press for the show in the dance world. Twitch because the story of not quite making it last year to work hard so he wins this year is also a very engaging story line. Twitch hasn't got quite the tonguebath Will has as routinely, but he's gotten more than his fair share.

A lot of times when there is too much favoritism by the judges people start rooting for the one that we are being ordered to vote off next rather than the one the judges decided long ago should win the competition and can do no wrong. Also people have different tastes and all the dancers are so good that there is not going to be one fan favorite every single person likes the most. Am I not allowed to like Mark more than Will?

I also don't think anyone is mad at Will for getting weekly tongue baths.However the only way to screw over the judges who feel the need to ram him down our throats is to vote for someone else. If anything the hate is for Nigel and the joy is that his attempts at manipulation were finally seen through by the people at large. I hope Will has a great career. I think he might have won if the judges weren't trying so hard to tell the American people we are bad and wrong and ignorant if we don't make the person Nigel wants to win the winner at the end. You find on most of these shows The Chosen One (TCO) doesn't win. People think they are the chosen one when even their mistakes are just proof of their perfection like Paula said about David Archuleta on AI. I would like the judges to at least attempt to be objective, but part of the show is that they over pimp their favorites into losing and someone that has something that appeals to America in entertainment value tends to win over The Chosen One. The harder the show tries to force the winner, the less likely they are to get what they want.

Simon's done it occasionally, but he's usually done it as a joke. Like when he praised Sanjaya because it finally was clear to him people would vote for Sanjaya just because Simon kept making pack your bags you are going home this week noises.

I don't vote on a regular basis. I wasn't trying to offend anyone by asking the question and everyone is allowed to like whoever they want i never said otherwise. I was simply surprised by the amount of people who wanted him gone. The final result dosen't matter to me at this point they are all great dancers. It was just a simple question about why so many people wanted Will gone nothing more nothing less.

It's just to bad that Will has to suffer just because some people don't like Nigel.I can't imagine that Nigel is aware of the reason Will was voted off. In fact I imagine he thinks it's because so many people think Will is so great that they don't think they need to vote for him because everyone is voting for him. I would be willing to bet you aren't messing with Nigel as much as you think you are. But then again what do I know?

Heck, they may do this just to get the shocking elimination that drives the ratings. Although I'm sure they also want their favorites to win over who America likes and don't care if they are really unfair with the judging. After all getting outraged about the judging seems to make people watch. ETA: I think Will may also not get votes because there are a lot of people that think he already has his career since he is mentored by Debbie Allan and doesn't really need this show to get ahead. I don't think he is going to suffer that much going out at this stage rather than at the win. He has gotten enough exposure that he'll get more work than he would have otherwise because people know he has the name recognition now to get people to buy tickets.

I actually like Will, but he is the Archie of SYTYCD this season. Plus I didn't want to see either of my boys Joshua or Twitch go. So I am satisfied with the results tonight.

LAST EDITED ON 07-24-08 AT 11:55 PM (EST)I've been in hospital for a few weeks, so I haven't read the boards here. (I did see the shows - but didn't have computer to read the messages) I didn't realize how much the judges drooling over Will was having such a negative effect on many people.
IMHO.....I thought Will was absolutely great in several numbers. The night they had the Alvin Ailey dancers, I actually agreed with Nigel that Will's solo was good enough to audition to dance with the Alvin Ailey troupe.
I do agree the judges went over the top in praising Will. But I still voted for him, and am sad to see him go.
I'm really sorry for him if his exit was influenced by the judges praise, or people's perception that he doesn't "need" to win he show cause he already has a career carved out.
I am sorry to see him go, but I do love all three remaining male dancers, and would have been sad no matter who was eliminated. Sorry about blowing hot air, but my point is that I just wish
that the voting would be purely about the dancing. That said, I'm glad Mark is still here.(Even if I think Will is actually technically a better dancer.) Marks performance (dancing and creating a character) for the "Bleeding Love" number was just insane, and I predict it could be showcased as one of the seasons' "favorite" numbers in the finale,

Will is a beautiful dancer. He irked me once or twice and his treatment was tiresome but he definitely deserved to be in the final four without question. He suffered a lot because of his connection to Debbie Allen from the start so I am happy he made it this far but he should have gone on. Absolutely. I was even prepared to vote for him and his shiny belt buckles (if Mark were to leave). I am truly sad that he is gone. He will go on to do great things, I have no doubt.

They are probably afraid Mia will leave the show. Some of her routines are brilliant. It would be a shame to not have her as a regular. I don't so much mind the CTBs. Sure they annoy me but they kind of have to kiss their butts.
