"Episode 2 challenge and Miss Universe"
Did anyone see the gown that the outgoing Miss Universe was wearing? It looked similar to the gown Uli designed, IMO. It was in different colors and the back was different, but I thought the front, with the different layers was just like Uli's gown.

Just caught the evening gown competition. I really liked how the dress turned out on Miss USA and liked it a lot more than most of the dresses on the other top ten.

The color was beautiful. She was probably the only one wearing a $300 dress!

Here is a tiny url link to that page so it doesn't make the screen go so wide http://tinyurl.com/eh26e

You might want to edit it as the wide screen gets really hard to read

Although the dress looked good, it did not look as good as the evening gowns
of the contestants from Puerto Rico or Mexico in my opinion. Miss USA
finished in fifth place. Miss Puerto Rico won and Miss Japan was the
runner up. One of the judges of Miss Universe was Santino Rice.

I didn't love any of the dresses, to be honest. Further, I've never been a fan of the "skinny dress w/ poofy bottom" look. But it fit her nicely, and, like I said above, the color suited her well.

LOL The only reason I flipped on the pagent was just to see Miss USA's dress again. It came out really beautifully and she just looked radiant in it. I thought it was the prettiest of the top ten too. I liked Miss Japan's dress as well and Miss Puerto Rico's was pretty risque, but it seemd to pay off.

I thought that too. The "no-underwear-peekaboo" dress of Miss Japan and the "slinky-silver-chains" dress of Miss Puerto Rico were less than tasteful, in my opinion. They wouldn't have been allowed at the Miss America pageant!

But I thought Miss USA's dress turned out beautifully. I think it's what got her into the Top 5. I thought she would have customized it just a tad however (maybe not so heavy on the halter jewelry, for example), but it looked exactly like the version on the show. Did you notice they mentioned Project Runway, but not the designer's name?

All I could see when I looked at Miss Puerto Rico was that chain mail almost dress that Rose McGowan wore when dating Marilyn Manson.

Apparently it was so heavy and tight Miss Puerto Rico fainted at the post-pagent press thing. http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2006/07/24/entertainment/main1827233.shtml

I knew that Miss USA would make at least top 10 so they could keep all of us who only tuned in for that reason.

By the way, did anyone else get a kick out of some of the "Interests" listed in the bios? I don't remember the contestants but "Making people happy" and "Watching Reality Television" were my favorites. I noticed none seemed to say "world peace". Guess that isn't in for pageants anymore.

Didn't watch the pagent, but saw the dress later on a pic. It was gorgeous on her!

Those 2 men worked together well, and came up with a brilliant design, IMHO. After all, it would very well work for Barbie, right???

Personally I think the gown lost the title for Miss USA. Gowns are thirty percent of the judges scores and that is why she was fifth! That dress had a huge gather right at the hips making it look like it was too tight there and the material would not lay like it should! I had seen the show of project runway but forgotten that they were designing the gown the night I watched the pagent! All I could see when she walked or talked in it was that stupid gathering at her hips! I kept thinking pull it down.. pull it down...PULL THE DANG DRESS DOWN! I think she should be furious with the designers for not fitting it right! If it would have had one more inch around the hips the material wouldn't have done that! That being said over all I thought the dress was very pretty but felt so sorry for her! At one point I could of swore I saw her look down with disgust! I know I was! POOR Girl I hope next years MISS USA goes with a real designer that can actually fit the dress for her! That is if they do it again! I wouldn't! I can't believe noone else noticed it! If you can go back and look take a look all it does is stay right there and it keeps your eye drawn to it! I hated it for her! I would have been so uncomfortable in it knowing I was being judged on it! Just my opinion! Lets put it this way! I have never ever noticed or remembered what they were wearing after it was over just that they all looked so pretty! But days after it is over with, I still have thoughts of that dress and how it gathered there and pity the poor thing! by the way! Miss Universe was on REGIS and Kelly today and she had the dress there! when it is not on her it looks like it is only about 6 inches wide! And she showed a place on her collerbone where the dress hurt her that night it rubbed her raw there! But I thought it looked beautiful on her! my fav though was Miss Japan this year! then the one that won! Miss Japan was so pretty! But bashing men in her question didnt help her to win the contest that is for sure! MOst of the judges were probably men I am not sure didnt see them joined the show after they were introduced!
