LAST EDITED ON 01-23-06 AT 05:52 PM (EST)As seen with the chicken, I mean, skating costume in the latest episode and his attempt to b!tc# slap Michael Kors in the last one, this guy thinks he's god's gift to fashion, and he needs to calm down and THINK a little. There's a fine line between genius and joke, which is why he always either wins or is in the bottom two. I'm starting to think that the dress he made for Nikki Hilton was just a fluke. Unless he gets control of that ego and thinks a little more about the assignments, he's risking another design disaster or getting the boot just for being a jerk. ...but they'll probably just keep him on 'cause he's the man everybody loves to hate. His skating dress was a complete mess and if they didn't drop him for that, then it look like we're stuck with him for the duration.

I think Santino is a good designer because I have liked (not loved, couldn't wear as I'm well past 25) many of his creations. However, many of his designs are variations on a theme: braided, poufy, empire waisted, flowy - think the direct opposite of Daniel Franco who also had all his designs be variations on a theme. Santino won't take criticism without getting defensive and immature. He also demands that all tasks fit his artistic vision rather than adapting his vision to the task at hand. I knew he would get raked over the Banana Republic design because his confessionals were all about the BR of the future, where the store should go, etc. Get over yourself already.

OK, so now that Santino had the opprotunity to do whatever he wanted, he still blew it, don't you agree?That dress, using last year's fabric (I knew it when he picked it up in the store!) looked like a giant colorful garbage bag that I might have sewn (and I can't sew). Zulema's dress was mediocre at best, but Santino's was just plain stupid. Now I'm convinced they're keeping him there just for conflict's sake.

I think it is really disgusting that the judges did not call Prince Santino out when they realized that he had, once again, made stuff like another designer. Remember his lingerie was like 2 other lines and now this dress was like some guy on Project Runway last year. If Santino prides himself on being so incredible with his mind of fashion then why does he need to use so many other peoples basic styles?

In my opinion, when Santino first started out in this competition he did come off as a strong designer, but now he is coming off as a weak and horrid creator of twisted and unreal outfits. I am not an expert on design or sewing, but I do think that Santino has potential. I think his problem has more to do with his agressive ego, unwillingness to listen and the fact that when he does listen he doesn't quite get it and ends up going below what he should. I think once Santino finds a good medium, halfway point, then we would see better creations. Santino is definately creative and he just needs to learn to take his level of creativity and create something that will appeal to others. As far as Santino being overrated, yes I think he was. As far as him having absolutely no talent whatsoever, I couldn't say that comfortably. I do think that the producers are using Santino as the "guy everyone loves to hate" role and are now turning it into the "guy who is now humbled" role. I wouldn't doubt it if he makes it to the final three and fills in the shoes of Wendy Pepper.
