"More Runway Thoughts - If You're A Model, You Don't Want Your Designer to Win" |
The main Runway thresd is long and I'm hoping we get a nice Runway forum for the New Year, so here's a new thresd about the change in the rules this season.I was thinking last night that you don't really want your designer to win if you're a model, because the "losing" and "winning" models return and face elimination if the winning designer of last week fails to choose the same gal. In other words, unless I'm missing something, wouldn't you want to fall right in the middle, with your designer scoring high enough to return but not so high or low as to be up for grabs? Not that the models really have THAT much to do with things. But last year, that very young brunette model, was very helpful to people like Wendy and Austin. Would she be so this year, with these rules?
Stupidly obssessed with this show, perhaps because Survivor and Apprentice and TAR all sucked mightily this past season.

Hey Ginger I agree that the whole situation with the models is lame. This is change just because they were trying to mix it up, and it doesn't work. Why would a designer who got first dump the model who helped him/her win? In favor of the model who got second-to-last?I really liked that young girl, yet I can't remember her name. Who was the wicked model? Morgan? Was the good girl Melissa? This season is solid, but not like the first. It's like Survivor Australia after Pulau Tiga. Unfair to compare, since it can't possibly live up to the first. I don't know if I like the editing. All Santino needs to do now is twirl his mustache.

Last night's show was a pretty good one. For the first time the majority of the designers seemed to really grasp the concept of this paticular competition and made exceptional outfits. I also enjoyed the whole uncomfortable dynamic of having to choose partners on the spot. How many of us can remember situations like that?My favorite duo was the dynamic Daniel V. and Andrea. Thes e guys know what teamwork is and they definately designed the obvious best outfit out of them all, managing to make the outfit appropriate and stylish for work and sexy, yet lots left to the imagination of a night outfit, hats off to them. I really think that I may have underestimated these guys and their talent. Maybe it was the editing that always made them out to be the good designers, but not the competition. I can comfortably say that if these two keep up the great work they will continue far into this competition if not win. Beware designers these guys are amongst the top competition. My second favorite group would have to be Emmette and Chloe. With Emmette's experience in men's clothing, which has a lot to do with suits and professional workware, and Chloe's ability to make cute yet mature outfits, they were a perfect pair. They managed to express their ideas repsectfully to each other and work well designing and completing a very nice work to nightware outfit. Heavy weight or sack of potatoes, not this time Santino, Emmette definately held his own and it showed. As for Zulema and Kara. Well, they weren't my favorite partners. I could understand Zulema's suck it up get it done mentality, but when wanting someone to calm down and focus it doesn't exactly help to speak so harshly to them. None the less these two pulled off a decent outfit and a great window display advancing them to the next round. Santino and Nick.....well let's just say my heart reached out to poor Nick. Nick is a great designer and I don't think we got to see too much of him in this outfit with Santino's overbearing ways and the attitude of my ideas are best and yours can just go back to where they came from. The only thing that made me know that Nick contributed to this outfit and was insistent upon was the fact that it was not overly detailed, other than that it was all Santino. As far as Santino's little, well big attitude, he needs to step it down by quite a bit of notches. I think it's great that he has confidence in himself, it's crucial that he does, but he should allow a bit of constructive critisism and others ideas sink in a bit as well. I loved how he really wanted and felt it should be obvious that Nick and him should work together as he has already deemed Nick as his competition. Santino might want to open his eyes to the real world even for just a few seconds to see that some of the other designers are creeping right up and that he does need to stop discrediting them and see them as what they are.....competition. Diana and Marla. Well, Diana is still young and may need a bit more experience and work to further her in a designing career. It seems from Diana's exit comments that she was fully aware of what she lacked as a designer and felt the experience benefited her. As for Marla, well I don't know how many times I made comments to her through the t.v., well let's see every time she opened her mouth. The problem I had with her was her constant complaints about the design of the outfit and the window and I found it most irritating. The way I feel is if she felt both were lacking in creativity or greatness then why not come up with something, give some imput, after all Diana was seeking it. Why didn't Marla express any ideas....well let's see that would be because she had none so in my opinon it was either contribute or shut up. Marla deserved to go and I honestly think she would have done worse had she not been partnered up.

I agree that it wasn't as super exciting as most other reality show moments, but I still enjoyed it. Most of the drama comes from Santino and one episode without having to hear too much of his crap was a refresher for me.
