I was pleasantly surprised to see Jim support Marcela with a pep talk before she went into the conference room. Her teammates planned to railroad her after they sabatoged the task and Jim prepared her to go in and fight for herself. Who would have thought he could be so caring? Hopefully, he was sincere and this wasn't just a back handed attempt to get a stronger player fired so he could overthrow Marcela later. Even at the beginning of the task, he got cocky regarding beating Marcela in the past. To have her stay now, would give him the upper hand with her later, especially since she would feel loyal to him for the support he gave her tonight.

I know, really it was totally out of character for Jim to be "compassionate" to another player. Can't believe he actually cared about enough about Marcella to give her a pep talk & good advice. But, who knows, maybe a heart does beat inside his conniving body! P.S. I didn't see the last 5 minutes, who got fired? Hope it wasn't Marcella, she really tried on this task.

come on guys, havent you figured out Jim's strategy yet? he wants marcella to stay b.c he thinks she is weak (which I dont necessarily agree with but he perceives her as weak) so therefor of course he is going to try to help her stay and get the other players who he thinks are more competition for him fired

Too funny zipperhead because after seeing the previews I was wondering who was going to confront Martha because I didn't think it was Jim. I agree with you that Jim has been very subdued and he knew exactly what he was doing by talking to Marcella. Jim thinks Marcella is the weakest link on the other team and I don't think he is too far off!

I saw it as a little of both. I did, honestly, think he liked taking her under his wing and helping her because he related to the you're-the-team-goat position she'd been put in. And I think he relished the opportunity to mess with the nasty blonde who ultimately got canned (appropriate, I thought). Notice how we're down to six and I still can't remember people's names, except for Jim. When Jim is NOT in manic phase (honestly, I think a few well-chosen meds could make a big difference in the Jim picture) he is the smartest one there. He sizes up the crux of each task and why the team is, or is not, achieving its goals way ahead of the others. I still think it would be a hoot if he won.
Of course, I remain a big Richard Hatch fan, too.

Actually Martha's choices on who to fire, they are too good. I think she must have seen footages of all the tasks. It seems like she knows exactly what's going on. As for Jim, I don't like him either, but he's interesting. You need a variety of people to make it interesting. I think shows like Rebel Billionaire and Big Brother 6 didn't work, because the contestants were quite similar. Jim brings flare, and I love Marcela I think she very honest and pure. Amanda had a degree in Public Relations, yet she didn't give good idea's. Amanda and Brian were defeated even before the task began. I think Jim is genuine at that moment. I don't really consider Marcela weak (Maybe Jim does). I can't tell. At least I'm interested, that's good.

She should have been fired! The fault was totally on her for the abyssmal job they did! Amanda worked her a@@ off fixing up the place while Marcela putzed around biting her nails and working on the computer! Jim was just keeping around a weak player. Him giving that little speech on being scapegoated and knowing how it feels was just ridiculous. That wasn't the situation Marcela was in. She made a mess of the project. She just sat there looking dazed and asking Leslie what she was supposed to do. That is not a leader.

I really hope that Marcela gets fired soon. Not because I dislike her, quite the opposite. I think she's a very classy lady and she seems like a decent person. She's out of her element with all those sharks. I think she's a talented individual who will land on her feet after this is all over.

I think Jim was being completely sincere when he reached out to Marcela, he said he knew what it was like to be ganged up on and scapegoated and didnt like watching it happen to Marcela, I didnt like what I saw happening to Marcela either, I was disgusted with Amanda and her huge forehead, and that other guy too (i forgot his name), they really showed their true colors!

Don't think Amanda should have been fired. And actually Alexis got it wrong by misquoting Amanda. Alexis brought up the fact that Amanda said she "couldn't back Marcela." Martha chimed in with, "Well, you did say that." Then Amanda got on the defensive and tried to back pedal from that remark, but she never said that. What she said was she couldn't back ALL of Marcela's decisions. That's very different than what Alexis said she said. Also Marcela being a nice person is different than being a leader. If the board room decisions are supposed to be based on who how well people work on the assigned task, then Amanda should have not been the one to leave. Also Jim's strategy wasn't all that brilliant. He was just repeating what had been said to him by Martha in previous board meetings - he ones that involved the hot pink, slanting, off-kilter, Tower of Pisa wedding cake and the salad dressing. But in those two cases the losses could have been blamed on the sales team. This week it couldn't since the people being brought in were only interested in eating free food.

I think Martha made the right decision. This was a bad sales job. Marcella brough lots of people in the shop, and she was able to put together a good idea. She can't help it, if Amanda and Brian (or whatever his name is) can sell crap. I kinda wish they gave a run-down on who sold the most and least. From what I saw Brian and Amanda was raising the white flag once Marcella was PM. That's just wrong. Brian should have been fired also. As for Jim who cares what his motive was. He gave a great speech though. I beleive he was genuine. The guy is a jerk, but even jerks can be nice once in a while. Brian and Amanda completly tried to go around her decisions. They didn't listen to her at all. They were extremly Narrow-minded. It was clear Martha made the best decision.

Jim does have a heart---totally made of stone. He displayed his true colors tonight when speaking first in private about his "strategy" to weed out all of the strong players to leave the weak ones for him to beat, then secondly in public with Martha's top executive and bragging about the strategy and his purely evil side. The man is suicidal when it comes to this "game." Obviously he forgot that the game was also a job interview. I don't think he'll last much longer now.

Jim is very insecure...and I like him, but his insecurity causes him to say and act studid. I don't think he will win either.

Re Amanda's chance to speak and saying the wrong thing. Was thinking about it and it suddenly occurred to me that the time I really liked and empathized with Amanda was when she was talking with Fran Drescher about her bout with cancer. Fran Drescher also seemed very interested about what she had to say about winning this battle and keeping her eye. Maybe this is what she meant about "perfect people," but just screwed things up. She should have brought this up and said she's a fighter - no matter what the challenge (and what she went through is a HUGE challenge and to be respected). She should have said she approaches life and problems with this type of tenacity and would therefore be a most valuable asset. She could also say that alot of people would be able to identify her victory and she could help them make their lives that much better by being in Martha's company. It was really the salient point about Amanda - this fighting spirit. Martha would have been able to identify it and strategically it would have put her in a very awkward position of having to get rid of someone that just spoke in this honest, forthright way. It would have made Marcela look whiney and very incompetent in that Amanda fought and won her battle and Marcela was crying about not even being able to handle a simple task of selling coffee. I realize that when you're sitting in the boardroom you're not given time to think, but I think Amanda was a very strong candidate. Remember how she got that team of hers that was working against her to work with her instead? She didn't whine and complain, she just took effective action to change the situation around. Contrast that with Marcela who shakes, bites her nails and whines and cries about her not being able to handle this alone. And when she loses the task she complains to "mommy" Martha who tells her to sit up straight and has to intercede and correct Marcela's mess. Sorry, Martha. You're not perfect and you made a huge mistake.
