I may be a bit overestimated as her total number of votes wasn't that much, but she had like 18% busies.
Buzz was the most popular person that the Dial Idol people were voting for. I think they only had votes from few states. I think she is one that may get a lot of name recognition (and Team Kate screw Jon) votes at the onset, but that may not last.

The reason DI uses the busy signal percentage rather than how many votes were cast by it is to try to get a larger sample than just the DI voters. Last week Kate had but a few votes but a lot of those were busy, this week she got more votes and her busy percentage dropped by a lot. So she may be higher than she normally would be.

Well Jon's lawyer seemed to indicate they were voting for her because her being gone so much strengthens their custody case.
I know she needs to get work, but I still don't understand how she thinks getting the most high profile work possible (the View, DWTS) should equate with getting a pass to stay out of the news and tabloids.
If you keep doing things to get your face all over all kinds of media then everything that happens is going to play out in the press. Even when all parties are invested in keeping it private legal stuff of high profile people makes the news. I don't think either of them knows how to not blab their business to anyone who will print their side of the story.

Methinks something's rotten in Denmark concerning Kate's votes. Whether it's to make her suffer or make her lose her custody case or get publicity for her other TV efforts I knoweth not, but something stinks like hell when somebody who displays the level of suckitude at dancing Kate does keeps getting loads of votes while others who dance better than her get the gate. Call it "the fix", call it what you want, but the show is losing credibility at supersonic speeds and for the good of the DWTS franchise Kate needs to get the ax NOW. And they should sharpen it up real good before they use it.

Well this happens pretty much every single year.
Someone that should have been out in the first week or two makes it to mid-season.
Hasn't destroyed the show any other season (which I think is most of them) this happened. I always wonder what season had all this integrity or credibility that people seem to think the show has. They are all about ratings and money, not talent, IMO.
There is always someone that gets votes for reasons that have nothing to do with dancing. Usually it is someone that will have some sort of appeal either from their fan base or story-line.

Sure, it's a popularity contest and all that sort of rot, yadda, yadda, yadda. And sure, everybody knows the viewer voting is often nothing but a load of $hit. But to keep the ratings up as much as possible, they have to maintain the illusion that the best dancers get voted back on, and that illusion is getting pretty tattered and torn after 5 years and 10 seasons of horse$hit viewer voting. Love the show, don't love many of my fellow viewers. And I'm not gonna start as long as this seasonly voter bull$hit keeps up.

Usually, I am locked up in the Psych Unit when this program (and everything else) airs, and have only caught a couple of the performances. So, FWIW?...
I love Evan. His body is sooo elegant. He reminds me of Adrian Brody (sp?) in the Pianist. When I look at him, all I can think is "Class Act".
Nicole - I have seen her perform with her group - no dance experience?? PUH-LEEEEZ!

I agree that Evan is good. I mostly like his dancing. However, did he really deserve three 10s last night? No, I don't think so.
I don't really get the comparison to Adrian Brody. Did you think he was somehow elegant in "The Pianist?"
In my opinion, the judges are really quite arbitrary and subjective in their scoring. It seems that different standards apply to each performer.

Oh, yes. I thought Adrien's portrayal of Szpilman was brilliant because he was able to maintain an aura of dignity and elegance in the face of such overwhelming adversity...
But, back to the dancing. I know Evan is an athlete, and not an expert on Argentine Tango, but then, that IS the point - yes? Perhaps the judges see a little something in him - or not. I think his body and presentation are very elegant, even if he doesn't get it exactly right.

What standards for judging? There are no standards and everybody knows it. The judges each have their own so-called standards the same as every one of the common people out there in TV land who picks up a phone or boots up a computer and votes. We see judging weirdness on every season, and on every season we see viewer voting that is inexplicable by any notion of rationality. So we're all better off if we purge the whole idea of standards from our minds, because this show will drive us all nuts if we don't.

Hi, and welcome to the boards. Glad to have your input, and your comparison of Evan to Adrien is poetic.
A word to the wise, though. Never argue tango stuff with our Mme. Qwerty. She's really mean, unless you send her lots of chocolate (I still have the bruises on my shins). She's also a professional tango dancer (for real) and has major issues with keeping her opinions to her herself (note earlier remark about the shins).
I had the privilege of seeing her and her hubby dance the tango. Fierce stuff. I thought she was scary off the dance floor, but dayum!
ETA: I agree with you about Nicole.

Actually, I love Sna. Q's critiques - she is passionate. I agree that one should stay out of the way when passion is concerned.
I do agree, as well, with Round Robin. It is impossible to be completely objective about artistic endeavors. "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder" - even for the judges. We can't hold them to an unreasonable standard - a higher one, yes - but not impossible.

Like I said last night: Unless Niecy's troops came out in droves to vote for her, she was toast. Looks like they may have done so and sent Chad/Cheryl to the rail instead.
If what happened last year happens again, Niecy will have a major breakthrough next week in the Semifinals to cause one of the Big Three to get the heave-ho one step short of the mirror ball trophy round....... If that happens, and Erin survives that scary situation, she could win this thing and finally give Maks a trophy of his own.
Right now, 3 of the 9 championship winners are still in play (1 for dreck Derek and two for Cheryl, though Cheryl's were way back in seasons 2 and 3...... Derek's lone winner is our new interviewer, Brooke, and he was mega-obnoxious when he won.....)
