"Thanksdad Strikes Again"
Basketball legend Donnie Walsh gets canned as president of the Knicks, clearing the way for Isiah Thomas to return, molest some more women, and turn the playoff team that Walsh needed three years to build (out of the crap that Thomas left behind) back into a laughingstock. Another triumph in his own demented, insane mind for James "Thanksdad" Dolan.

1. "It gets better."
If you believe some of the local sources, Donnie's reward for getting the Knicks under the cap (a feat many believed couldn't be managed without strategic assassinations) and back into the playoffs was the generous offer of --

(wait for it)

-- a 40% pay cut.

Because, you know, anyone could have done what he pulled off.

From what talk radio has been reporting, Mr. Walsh was seeking two things in his contract renewal: a little more control (meaning 'less chance of Thanksdad directly overriding') and the right to name his eventual successor. And what did he get? A 40% pay cut, since clearly Thanksdad could have done it all himself if only he'd been properly motivated.

The papers are also reporting Isiah's said he isn't interested in the job just yet.

Think about that last sentence for a minute.

It's not a happy city today.

2. "RE: It gets better."
I'm guessing that the main problem is that last word, 'yet'...

And he has now added "never say never" to that.

You call it a countdown clock, but the NYC area prefers 'suicide watch'.

Isiah's on the shortlist of head coach candidates for the Pistons, and not even Dolan can bribe the NBA into letting his BFF work for two teams at once. Since there's basically one basketball city in North America where Not The Lord wouldn't be attacked on sight and they're the ones actually considering the hire, you'd think it would be the sensible place for him to go.

I'd really like to think that.
