Hi, volsfan! And hi cq and Swami and PagongRatEater and pinchy and everyone else... I actually got to watch a few minutes of this show last night. Big emergency landing...reeeeally bad commercials...two people (Which two? Dunno.) get booted. This show seems a bit dry. And a bit disorganised, like everything is done "on the fly", but not in an exhilarating kind of way. Because I've had time to form an opinion, having seen 5 minutes of the what? 6th? episode. Yeah, I'm full of myself. Or something. RE: coin-flipping...YIKES! Wouldn't that be a kick in the teeth for everyone who was "playing to win" or "not here to make friends" or whatever.

Vols,It seemed to me that the coin flip had to do with the prize, not who will become the winner. Sir Richard says something about give up the million dollars to flip a coin for some great opportunity. My guess is that it has something to do with their personal businesses and Richard’s company. Hard to tell from the brief blurb, but I’m willing to bet it is something like that. "What does that have to do with the ability to run ANYTHING?"I guess Branson doesn't golf. Seriously, high level management positions are so often determined in a non-business setting, particularly a sport related outdoor setting. I have no idea how it actually works even though I have seen it happen. A couple of guys will talk at length about the game, their shoes, their kids, then wham--out of the blue--some business decision has been made. I don't get it, but that's how it happens. This is why women's rights groups are so anxious to eliminate male only golf courses & clubs. It really does make a difference to be able to join in at those venues.

Yes, they demonstrated creativity, imagination, time management, budget, etc. Ill grant that. But the sports thing is not what this show is about. It's about being a dare devil. The business deal is not settled on who got the best golf score (indeed, many times it is won if the wannabe LOSES the game) much less the shoes, etc. The sports thing is a getting to know you kind of thing, seeing if you're my kind of guy thing WITH pre-knowledge and/or confirmation of your finances/business acumen/contacts, etc., making the decision. This game-show team compeition thing is far removed from how it's normally done. It's hard to build up passion for this show. Perhaps that's because it is the show, the process, the capriciousness of Branson's decisions, not the human beings running around in the maze (and certainly not the stimulaton of our little gray cells), that is the star. With complete lack of passion, that's MO.

It has seemed predetermined from the beginning when Shawn wasn't booted right away that Branson liked him. And he would probably last till the end. But I think Sara is going to win. She comes off as the smarter choice. Shawn was good for ratings. But would Richard really want to give him control of his company?
