"Official Episode 4 Summary: The Biggest Loser 2; Road Trip!"
LAST EDITED ON 10-06-05 AT 07:38 AM (EST)

The show begins with a recarp worthy of a finale of The Apprentice. In order to get caught up quickly just keep in mind the men have lost two challenges and the women once. Beginning weight loss for this week is a combined 386 pounds. Who loses the most weight this week? Who wins the challenge? Who gets the boot?

Caroline Rhea (I donít understand why she isnít competing rather than hosting) gathers the teams to the gazebo for some big news. Caroline appears in a wrap around skirt made with the sheet taken from her king size bed, a white wife beater and a cover shirt that looks like the curtains that matched the sheets. She informs the teams that they are headed to Sin CityÖVegas baby! Here is where I begin to think of the irony of the situation as they are called the biggest losers and they are going to Vegas. Shouldnít they be called this LEAVING Vegas? Anyway, everyone is very excited and shout as if they have just won the Powerball lottery.

The group arrives at the Aladdin Hotel and Caroline greats them in the lobby. Caroline proceeds to tell them they will be staying in suites on the 50th floor and will be eating dinner at Planet Hollywood. Planet Hollywood? Couldnít NBC afford to send them to a nice place or cater in food that best fits their diet needs? Even though I donít understand everyone is screaming and shouting as if they are very happy. Planet Hollywood?

At dinner Matt lies to the wait staff to lead them to believe it is his birthday. Planet Hollywood supplies a birthday cake with a candle on top. Matt wishes it was his birthday and blows out the candle. Someone asks if he is going to share the cake and he says no and eats the entire cake! The catch? The cake was the size of a half dollar.

Everyone goes out gambling after dinner and we see Matt lose at Blackjack and Suzanne going to the slots. Suzanne stays at one machine as she says it will payoff sooner than later. Sure enough she hits a jackpot and wins over $1,600!

Bob (my new found lust) and Jillian show the losers exercises they can do in a hotel room. They really are basic exercises like push-ups, crunches and sit-ups but everyone seems to be absorbing the info. I just enjoyed watching Bob explain the exercises.

The Temptation

A card dealer from the hotel meets the losers in a high stakes room to explain the rules of the next temptation challenge. The card dealer is a female appearing to be in the 30íish range with mall hair. Oh you know the styleÖthe front is a toned down version of the 80ís teased to Jesus look with the rest just a stringy mess all over her head. Also, keep in mind her dark roots and blond frizzy tips lead me to believe she hasnít visited a CVS store in a couple of months!

The card dealer has a deck of cards with dollar amounts ranging from one to $5,000 on the cards. The losers will be given the opportunity to draw a card and win the dollar amount on that card. However, if they take a card they give up their access to their trainer until the next weigh-in.

The teams huddle to make up their minds what they want to do. Matt tells the guys if they want to play he (Matt) will workout with Jillian and then train them afterwards so the team doesnít suffer. On the other hand, a divide is beginning to show with the women because they come to the conclusion that this temptation has nothing to do with teamwork and the decisions should be made individually.

Mark, Seth, Shannon, Suzanne and Jen decide to screw the workouts and go for the money. The dollar amounts:

Seth: $1,000
Mark: $2,500
Shannon: $1,000
Suzanne: $2,500
Jen: $1,000

The dyed hair card dealer then informs the 5 that they could double their winnings by playing a game of high/low. If they guess correctly their amounts will double but if wrong they lose everything. Shannon and Suzanne are the only two that decides to play high/low. The dealer has an 8 and asks Shannon if her card is higher or lower. Shannon says her card is higher than the card dealerís hair and is correct! Suzanne says her card is lower than 8 and she is correct also. Shannon won $2,000 with Suzanne taking home a cool $5,000.

Bob (my new found lust) and Jillian are very upset that any of them gave up their trainer for a week. The two trainers tell the losers that they are disappointed in the ones that chose to play because they lost sight of why they are there. Bob (my new found lust = MNFL) has just realized that the women are not working as a team and there is a divide between those that gave into temptation and those that didnít. So, that makes it Andrea, Suzy and Ryan vs. Shannon, Suzanne and Jen. Bob (MNFL) pulls aside Andrea, Suzy and Ryan to ensure them that he will give them 110% if they give him 100%! I would give Bob (MNFL) everything I had and then some if he would just ask for it!

The Challenge

Chunky Caroline is by the pool to explain the challenge but first tells them the winners will receive a return trip to Vegas with a loved one any time in 2006! The pool has round spots on the bottom with each personís name on the spot. There are gold bars on the spot that weighs the exact amount they weigh. One at a time each person will swim out to the spot with their name and retrieve all the gold bars. The first team to retrieve all bars will win and have the ability to pick the female that will not be included in the weigh-in. The women have an extra person so Andrea sits out.

Matt and Shannon starts the challenge and Matt takes an early lead by carrying 3 and 4 bars at a time. Matt finishes and Mark takes off. Suzanne is next in the water but Mark continues to lead as he finishes. Pete is up next for the men and Andrea for the women. They continue with the men slightly leading throughout the rest of the challenge. The men win by what appears to be 5-6 bars. I havenít seen this many body parts jiggling since Baywatch. It isnít a pleasant sight to see these peeps in bathing suits.

Everyone is back from Vegas and are shown working out except Shannon, Suzanne and Jen. The three that fell to temptation are shown lying in bed asleep as the others workout. This is something I donít understand as they lost access to Bob (MNFL) not the gym. They should be doing something to exercise.

The next scene shows Matt training Mark, Seth, Shannon and Jen as Matt has taken the women under his wing and trying to help them lose weight. Suzanne still isnít shown working out and I hope this isnít a reflection of how she will be when she goes home.

The divide in the womenís camp grows wider as they (the women) begin bickering while eating. Suzanne and Ryan are arguing as Suzanne says that Ryan said it was so much better not having everyone workout with Bob (MNFL). The argument gets louder and we get a confessional from Mark saying Ryan backstabs everyone. I am completely lost as nothing like this has been shown before and I am wondering why Mark thinks the way he does.

Bob (MNFL) interrupts and gets into Suzanneís face to tell her that he is there to help them lose weight and he isnít there for the drama. Bob (MNFL) continues telling Suzanne that he hopes she can move past the drama and form a team before it is too late. I canít say for sure but I think one side of the women and some (or all the men) believe Ryan is to blame for the drama. However, I think Bob (MNFL) believes Suzanne is to blame.

Weigh-in

The men won the challenge and pick Jen as the womanís weight loss that will not count towards their overall total. The scale reports:

The women will be sending someone home but Jen won immunity by losing the most on her team.

The Vote

The women arrive with their plates and sit down divided, as they have been the entire show. There are very few words of explanation for the votes (as I donít think there are any because it is an ďus vs. themĒ mentality).

Andrea votes for Shannon
Suzy votes for Shannon
Ryan votes for Shannon

Jen votes for Ryan
Shannon votes for Ryan
Suzanne votes for Ryan

I guess all the harping Bob (MNFL) did about being a team and getting along fell on deaf ears. With a tie the men get to determine who goes home and it doesnít have to be one of the two that are tied! I canít believe these wenches would let their opponents determine who goes home. Can anyone say hardheaded women?

The men march in with their one vote and boot Ryan.

Ryan has continued her diet and works out 6 times a week. She has continued to lose weight and at the airing had lost a total of 55 pounds! Good for her.

Be sure to check in next week when MTW brings you the action and donít forgetÖ

OH.THE.DRAMA!

ETA: I will rewatch the tape this afternoon and see if Caroline gave Andrea credit for immunity but Jen did lose more weight than anyone on her team. Andrea didn't even lose more than others on her team that did count towards the overall weight loss.

Great summary, Vols. I, too, liked the explanations of the hotel room exercises. (Though I was unclear why he didn't take them to the hotel gym. Been a long time since I've seen a hotel without one. )

But did I miss something? I thought Jen had the immunity, and the stats you quote would suggest that, as well.

So, are you trying to tell us that Bob is your new found lust?

Great summary!! I enjoyed reading it. One (of many)parts that I liked:

I canít believe these wenches would let their opponents determine who goes home. Can anyone say hardheaded women?

Great summary Vols. Thanks for doing it. Did you know Ryan lives in J. City? I've never met her, but I do know her husband. We graduated high school together.
