"Thoughts on episode 4"
Wow, Ryan looked pretty good in her update! It was great to see she had lost another 25 pounds since leaving the show. Good for her!

It was quite interesting to see the girls' team disintegrate. Although it didn't surprise me. Stick all those women together and it would be shocking if there wasn't some sort of drama.

So, would you have given up your trainer for a chance at $5000? I wouldn't have! If I'd gone to all the trouble to get on the show and done all that work to lose weight I would do my best to stay focused. Of course, I say that totally removed from their situation. Wonder what their perspective would have been if any of them had won only $1?

It was great to see the weight loss increasing again. I'm sure it was very encouraging to all of them. I was so excited for Jeff with his big loss. I did find it interesting that Caroline pointed out the "under 200" milestone to the ladies but didn't point out the one "under 300" milestone to the men. (or maybe it was edited out) Course, I guess it might matter more to the women.

Yes - I would give up my trainer for a week. Like (Jen?) said, after several weeks, you should have the knowledge to train yourself, otherwise the whole show will have been for naught.

I wouldn't have taken the gambling bait only because it's still very much a team event.

The opportunity to win that much money probably meant a lot more to some of them than we know. Who knows how they're paying their bills, etc. while they're gone? They've been there just long enough to start really worrying about finances at home, they can't contact their families to find out about it and they don't know when they're going to be sent home with nothing. Big big temptation.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned that the 3 women that gave up their trainer for a week to get the money also lost more weight than any of the 3 that didn't. Seems like Matt is a better trainer than Bob.

I found that interesting as well. Maybe they worked extra hard to prove to everyone they hadn't made a bad decision. I know I sure would do that. You'd have to work hard so that target on your back would fade away.

I think I would have taken the bet and used the next weigh-in as a self-test to see how much I had learned thus far from my trainer.

I thought the foreshadowing was interesting from the previous episode. Remember when Ryan and the blond girl won the prize of having their food catered for the week? They showed Matt commenting that he knew who would be the first to go on the women's team while watching Ryan and blond girl eat. Proved to be true. (or maybe I'm spending too much time on the Survivor Spoiler page)

If I was on the show, I wouldn't have given up the trainer. At this point in the game, they are competing as teams. They should have put the team first. If it were an individual competition, I probably would have gone for the $$.

Can't believe I've been sucked into this show for a second season!

The team aspect is what makes it interesting. Before they all made their choices the guys decided as a team it would be okay cause Matt would train those who did it. But the women made it into an individual thing. And you really saw that throughout the whole episode. Of course, a lot of it was editing, but you saw the men working as a team and the women deteriorating as a team. It will be interesting to see tonight if the women were able to pull together more.
