This guy will be upset:

Now the US can't take Scotland's place.

Yea Britain. Rob Roy will be rolling in his grave, and the heart bet was that they would vote for independence. But economically this probably works better.

So Yea for Britain and Scotland.

Now they need to go get South Ireland. And can we cut a deal for Canada?

I just don't see what was to gain from independence.

If we get Southern Ireland back does that mean my family will get back our property in Dublin?

Funnily enough we had to use a lot of persuasion to get some countries to leave, although granted Canada wasn't one of those countries, but all good things come to an end, and to use an analogy all children hopefully leave home someday. Scotland leaving would have been much more like Mummy and Daddy getting a divorce though.

So Canada is still on the table? Maybe in the wake of the Scottish vote the time is ripe for a negotiation over Nova Scotia?

As an Alabamian, I'd be willing to discuss a trade involving Nova York for the Bahamas? Or Nova Jersey for the Barbados?

Didn't have a dog in this battle, personally (Irish background), but we did have a good debate about this in my class to help the learners understand the implications of the referendum as two of them were born in England.

One of the learners found this link that had a few interesting outlooks on what the flag could look like if Scotland went 'Yes'...

Oh, and just tweaking... but what about Wales? Where did they go?

Have to admit that the main issue was that no-one knew what would happen. Yes was fairies, rainbows and there was always going to be jam for tea. No was doom, gloom, and escape from New York in Glasgow. The truth would presumably have been somewhere inbetween.

Wales was 100% part of England from 1547 until 1967 (legally at least) so the issue never really came up.
