Ebert once said, "If you disagree with something I write, tell me so, argue
with me, correct me--but don't tell me to shut up. That's not the American way."

i find myself very much addicted to this little show and i do not know why. the 'actors' that are supposed to be fooling this poor guy are not very good for the most part...(not all of them are terrible but there are a couple that are just down right bad...take the jumping in the pool segment for one example, even the model was doubting the whole set up!) why is this guy fooled? i keep thinking he will catch on and show some glimmer of knowing something....anything...but alas he never does. and yet i can not deny he is very likable. the whole thing is so obvious that i have come to wonder if even he is not an 'actor'. and if he is.... he is the best darn actor on the show. in any case i am addicted and can't wait for the final show.

Thanks Ashleigh! I was afraid people would have gotten the wrong idea with my post before I edited it.

you're right, since i am seeing the set up from an outside viewpoint knowing whats going on it is easy to see things that are not obvious to someone in the center who is living it. and really it was not only kip's 'over acting' with the swimming thing but also the whole 'stall for time' deal in the pool too seemed over done (though they really had no choice at that point). i know this is the same thing...seeing it from an outsider's view. maybe i am being too critical of the acting but it sure does seem obvious and at times. this guy is so sincere and thats what makes the show so addicting i think...you feel for him and want to see his final reactions. and yes, that was really something when he was still sticking up for kip when the model was picking at him. it said alot about his character. i doubt i would be so absorbed in the stories if he weren't so likable. normally the reality shows are not my thing but this one has me. and i kept trying to switch the station but always ending up going back to it and now am just a joe schmo fan....oh well

True, the stalling for time was kind of odd, but with Brian, Matt had said he was at a disadvantage without his glasses, and with Kip, Kip could just do timy splashes, as not to get the model wet, but some of what they said was kind of iffy. And even if he wasn't such a nice guy, many people would probably watch just to see what he does and how the others react to him being cruel. If he was like Hutch, people would eatch it to see him get what was coming to him probably.. But you're right, a lot of people watch it because he is so sweet and nice!
