"prematurely voted off/worst voting mistakes"
Season 1:

Joel Klug: Joel made some comments that were interpreted to be sexist. Gervase made a comment that was definitely sexist. (I think it was "women are as dumb as cows" or something like that.) Joel gets voted off. Does that make sense? But as if that wasn't confusing enough, Joel was kind of the defacto leader of the group, whereas Gervase was just lazy. But the real kicker is that Joel was the only Pagonger that seemed to get it regarding the upcoming merge. With Joel gone, Pagong was clueless at the merge, and thus the term "pagonging" was created. Jenna's quote in F9 pretty much sums it up: "if they vote one more of us off, then we'll be sure they have an alliance." Great thinking Jenna, by then it's too late to do antyhing about it.

Season 2:

Keith Famie: pretty much common knowledge here. Colby threw away probably a 7-0 win for a less than 50/50 shot, and paid for it (in this case, to the tune of $900,000)

Debb Eaton: Pre-merge, you should always eliminate the weakest links. Anytime a tribe kicks off stronger members in lieu of weaker members, they keep losing challenges and have to vote off more members. All-stars ignored this rule to death, and various tribes paid for it. Debb was tough and pulled her own weight. They should have realized that Kimmi was the weaker link. She is a vegetarian, and while there's nothing wrong with that, it doesn't transfer well over to survivor. Their food source is as limited as it is, and when you limit it even more, your doomed for quick elimination. Kucha couldn't see this, and voted off the stronger Debb instead. Immediately following this, they almost paid for it at the next immunity challenge, as Kimmi refused to eat a creature. She got lucky when Jeff cheated and forced Tina to hurl, sending the game into a tie. Apparently, Kimmi can eat a worm, and Kucha gets damn lucky. Eventually, Kimmi's vegeatrianism isolates her from the tribe and they vote her off at the next opportunity. But that wasn't even the worst of it. By not voting off Kimmi, she spilled the beans regarding Debb's one, seemingly meaningless vote for Jeff, eventually leading to the extinction of Kucha.

Kel Gleason: see above. Another member eliminated because of his isolation from the group, despite being stronger than other members. Kel's elimination sent Ogakor into a freefall, and they kept losing challenger after challenge. Tina and Colby finally realized what was happening and reversed course, voting off weaker links like Mitchell.

Season 3:

Silas Gaither: Frank and Theresa were just so hellbent on getting revenge at Silas that they failed to see that they were giving the old Boran team a 3-2 advantage.

Season 8:

pretty much the whole damn season. Tina is voted off but Rudy stays, sure enough that tribe loses the next immunity challenge as well. Lex's team votes off Rich, Colby and Ethan, but keep immunity challenge liability Shii-Ann, and the whole tribe quickly becomes extinct.

Actually, the ironic thing about season 1 with Joel is that he didn't even make the comment. Gervase said it. Joel foolishly nodded his head to indicate he agreed with it. But really that was just the last of a series of sexist things the women thought Joel did. I don't think voting Joel out lead to Pagong's downfall. He didn't have cred with the tribe to keep them together at the merge and voting as one group - he was no leader except in his own mind. Gretchen was the only one everyone respected enough and so could have done that. She refused to and that lead to Pagong's downfall.

Hi wiseguy, welcome to the boards.
I just wanted to comment on a few of your remarks:

>Season 2:

>Keith Famie:

True but Colby wanted Keith gone from the start. During the 4th episode, Tina managed to change his mind only by promising him that Keith wouldn't stay to the end. Colby knew what he was doing, knew he was taking a chance but that's what he wanted to do and apparently never regretted it.

>Debb Eaton:

Huh???? Very convoluted reasoning here. Kimmi won the challenge for Kucha after all and she was never considered weak. She was always working in camp. You can't expect Kucha knowing that Tina would get Kimmi to talk!
(Also: What Jeff V. did to distract Tina wasn't cheating, just gamesmanship)
Before merge you vote out the weak AND the ones that don't fit in. That was Debb.

>Kel Gleason:

First, remember that Kel didn't help at all during the trek to camp. That's how the Ogakor alliance of Jerri- Mitchell- Tina- Colby and Amber was formed: Those five worked together to carry the load while Kel and Keith kept forging ahead to scout the area.
Second: Challenges weren't physical back then so they had reason to believe they'd do well without Kel who no one trusted.

Season 3:
Forget Silas, the worst votes of Africa came at F9 and F8:
- Boran threw the game away when they voted out Kelly
- Samburu gave it right back when they voted out Brandon even if they could have eliminatred a Boran with prior votes.

Season 8:
Here also, the worst votes were Jerri's instead of Amber and then Big Tom instead of Rupert.

I'll had a few of the worse votes ever that you missed:

S4: Hunter is the evident one...
BUT: Gabe is probably the least talked about terrible decision. It told Kathy, Neleh and Paschal that not everyone in Rotu was in the alliance. It opened the door to Rotu's fall.

S5: Suck Job eliminating Robbbb just when he had seen the light. He would have stayed loyal and was stronger than Shii Ann.
At F6, Ted and Helen had to take care of the goat, Clay, rather than Jake.

S6: - Dave going for an older tribe but then keeping Heidi instead of Jeanne.
- Robb C eliminating Christy over Jenna. Rob had Matt to be his goat but he wanted to have 2. Matt stole the 2nd goat who wasn't a goat after all!

S7: - Voting out Trish instead of Fairplay. Sure, Trish proposed voting out Rupert but JFP showed he was eagerly on board and much more dangerous.

- Voting out Shawn instead of JFP. They feared that Shawn would reunite with Burton but he had voted Burton out.

- Voting out Tijuana instead of Burton. Sandra was Dumb.

Post-A$$ also had its share.

3. "RE: prematurely voted off/worst voting mistakes"
I don't recall Tina being part of the 'young persons alliance' in Ogakor.

I'm not sure what you mean by 'forget Silas' and then talk about Brandon. It was the same mistake: Theresa and Frank both voted for Silas and Brandon to get voted off, and both times they did, it gave the Old Boran tribe more of an advantage. Both times, they were so obsessed with voting off their own that they didn't realize they were handing the game to Old Boran.

4. "RE: prematurely voted off/worst voting mistakes"
Tina joined Jerri and Mitchell even before Colby and Amber. Tina and Colby soon became the strongest pair in Ogakor. The editors hid all that to make her look like an outsider.

Silas had previous votes so he couldn't be saved. The players had been surprised by the new twist. Going along with Ethan gave Frank and Teresa a shot at gaining his trust.
The Brandon boot was a game killer.

At F6, Ted and Helen had to take care of the goat, Clay, rather than Jake.

Helen definitely wanted to get Clay out, but they needed Jan's cooperation and she wouldn't budge, she was too tightly in Brian's grip.

6. "RE: prematurely voted off/worst voting mistakes"
Well, the obvious all-time biggest voting mistake was made by my all-time favorite Survivor, Kelly Wiglesworth.

She changed her vote to Susan instead of Rich at final 4. If Rich had gone, Kelly could have taken the wretched hag Sue Hawk to final 2 and would have won. Heck, she only lost to Rich by one vote. She would have cleaned up against Sue.
