Please keep all discussion of Mary's attempt to race without allies, partner, camera operator, or sound technician on this thread until the West Coast gets to see that last shot of her muttering 'I'm invisible, I'm invisible...' or until midnight EST, whichever comes first. Because we may never see Mary again. She doesn't need you, y'know. She doesn't need any of us. There isn't a thing or a person on this planet which she has any need to rely on. Especially the ticket attendants. Who needs a plane to fly? The other Racers. And what's Mary going to do? Flap her arms. Really hard. Or stuff David into a balloon's fuel tank and burn him for hot air. Whichever's easier. One more leg like this and I'm switching my PTTE to have Alex & M-J finish first.

I was surprised that Romber had a 39 minute lead! I didn't expect it to be that much.

Exactly, and that's probably what annoys me most about her. She's willing to take any hospitality or advantage that comes with being short, but completely unwilling to take any disadvantages that come with the same quality. If I recall, TAR rules state that team members must remain together (or within a small enough distance for camera crews) at all times. I had wondered myself why some teams couldn't split up when it would probably make things go quicker and then heard about this.
I guess the exception would be at roadblocks, but there's probably extra crews there and all the non-participating team-members are probably required to stand together for camera reasons.
