"SSC4 (FV) Ode to al dente" |
Alright. So this is the very first poem I've written in something like 10 years. You were privileged in the WSC3 to read my very last poem (age 16), and now you get to read the first as a born-again poet. This is only the third poem I've written (among the hundreds) that I've shared with anyone. I've always just written for myself. I have always been a fan of the visual aspects of poetry, so it seems fitting that I'd start out with something very visual. And apparently, I thought it best to ease my way into the more serious of subjects...
Damn
That macaroni
Sticky starch stuff
Not fit for consumption.
Al dente long since passed
Bearing the shape of the colander
Tumbling bumbling blob plops into my bowl
Resisting urges to mingle with butter and cheese
As I stare at this carbohydrate catastrophe I conclude
That a timer might not be such a horrible idea 
one can wish, no?
