I replied, "I understand why people feel about him that way, but I get him. I know why he is like that. I can't explain it, but I get him." We sat. We stared. You were moved by my profundity yet again. You marvelled over me, showering me with compliments. Confessions of your awe. I am not here to be hailed. Where is my someone? Who gets me? My thoughts drift through clouds of smoke. The cold, dry living room is dim. You prove again you don't get me in a stupid argument over interpretation. We don't agree. I wonder why I get all of the people close to me and I have nobody who returns. Who reciprocates? The mind drifts again through space and time back to our converging and diverging roads through the forest of life and friendship. We made a different choice this time instead. We stayed together and never drifted apart. You never met that guy who ruined your life. I am a firm believer in situativity. Situativity. That reminds me of something. Someone. Situativity. Everything and every person... affects everything... "That's right. And I know right away if people are going to get me when I explain to them that everyone affects everything. And they say, 'no, that can't be true.' And I say, 'Well, it is. Think about it. If we never met, we never would have had this conversation.' And when they don't get that? They don't understand that? They don't get me," you said. I nodded and agreed. I got you. And I knew right then that you got me. I snuffed out the cigarette I was failing at using to calm me down. I shook my head. Fate was interesting sometimes.
