"ILM #2 Episode #5: Alliances Are Dead -- Or Are They?" |
So much for that run of decent titles.VH1's 'we could never do this for Survivor' preview test, pasted without corrections: ' After a surprising double elimination and an added twist of switching up the teams, the Money Lovers are all shook up. It's questionable whether the original Gold Team alliance is still in tact, and everyone knows they'll have to dig deep inside and do whatever it takes to win the first challenge with the new teams. The possibility of a secret alliance between two friends begins to raise suspicions with the bullies of the house as they scramble to retain control of the game. As a result, other members of the house realize it's time to join forces or be forced out of the house. ' This is sort of pointless because the alliances were going every which way but within before the teams were switched up. We're at the point where we need a realtime graphics program drawing link lines between the players just to stay current -- except that we'd create a giant web and strangle half the group to death. As for a secret alliance between friends -- those who are openly friends in the house are just as openly allied. The only way this could be a surprise would be to have two people we never knew were friends before this. 'Bullies of the house'? With Erza gone, that's anyone. And possibly everyone. Looks like we're waiting on this one. 'in tact'?

3. "RE: ILM #2 Episode #5: Alliances Are Dead -- Or Are They?" |
One of the biggest surprises across both seasons is the lack of fighting for the captain's position during the team stage: it usually breaks down to whoever raised their hand first. We generally don't see people scrambling to get into it or keep anyone else out of it. It's like BB with a 50% chance of volunteering to be HoH. NuGold could have kept Christina out of potential power and resolved the whole issue before it ever started -- but they didn't. Instead, we got 'Mercedes & Christina, swimming in the pool, which one will be the confessional fool?' Are we seeing a Rotu-style backlash against the dominant alliance? Hard to say -- there's just too many connections between individuals and teams to know if anything is solid right now. Every week seems to be coming down to 'are you going to betray your primary alliance or your secondary one?': no matter what happens, someone gets stung. Imagine if this was a fully jury-judged show -- we'd be looking at a major screamfest for F2. *sigh* Yeah, poor Ahno. Knocked out because after Mercedes broke it down, there was pretty much no one else who could go. This actually removes a physical threat for the individual stage (whether they want to believe that or not), but for the way it happened -- owsie. And what have we learned, class? We've learned that Saaphyri has a higher reading comprehension score than Angela at all times. Including when Saaphryi doesn't understand the language she's trying to read.
