The baked rice sounds like a great recipe, especially for fall and also because it's so versatile. Can't wait to try it!
About the strawberries, they're still in the market, it's just that they're just not as tasty these days and they've usually taken a long truck ride from some far-off land.
However, I do still have a few of the last local peaches which I think would be perfect for this. The peaches alone have a hint of vanilla flavor to them already, so with the whipped cream I think they'd be decadently divine.
