He is so rude and nasty. I don't believe anyone likes him. So why keep him. He is nasty to children and everyone. He must have had a bad life growing up. He is terrible. That is why they have mean judges. If people only wanted to see people being praised then all the judges on TV would be more like Paula Abdul. ETA: I'm sure they do get letters, but the ratings are high enough that it may not make a difference. Simon owns the show, basically, and having had to replace Regis and Brandy I doubt they ever considered firing Piers. He even admitted himself he did it too fast a couple of times. We're living in the age of mean judges. I'm used to that. But when you're talking to children, that's a whole different ball game. He should just tell them nicely to keep working hard on their talent and that maybe that can try again next year. Let them down nicely. I hate the facts that little children come on shows like these a manipulate their way forward, but there is no reason at all to be mean to little kids. Tell them 'you aren't what we're looking for' and move on. I can't see any justification to go out of your way to personally attack a 7 year old - it's smashing ants with an anvil. "RE: Piers Morgan" I appreciate Piers because he is the only judge that actually tells the truth. He is the most likely to say what many viewers would like to say if they had the opportunity. He was absolutely correct about the little tyke dressed up like a 1980s prostitute pop star when he hypothesized that the haggard Stage Mother was the primary motivation for being on the show --- and, in the end, he acknowledged that he should have directed thse comments at the mother rather than the child. And he was correct about the fiddling family just dragging their swarm of rugrats onto the stage. Half of them just stood there holding fiddles but not actually doing anything with them. They were unnecessary and distracting. Their only purpose was to be manipulative: "Oh, look at the cute kids. You have to accept this act because they have such precious little ones." Sure, he's blunt and sometimes his comments are rude, but every act that he "x'd" deserved it. I think his judgements were correct. Plus, just because he's down-right mean sometimes, doesn't make him a bad judge. If he weren't on the show you would be bored and probably not bother watching the show. But back to Piers, he's ignorant, mean and all that, but what would the show be like if all of the judges were pansies? Would you watch it?
