"Evening Gown Episode" |
This is cut short a bit this week for a couple reasons. First of all, when Nick left, he took a little piece of my heart along with him. Second of all it was a pretty boring episode. So this week, the designers are to design an evening gown that would be a showcase in their Fashion Week collection. Frankly, I was underwhelmed once again. Everyone played it extremely safe save for Santino, of course. This may have been the only challenge where I didn’t find his creation hideous. Winner – Daniel
Yeah, it’s safe but it’s very pretty. I like the lines of this dress. It’s not something I would wear, but it’s very flattering on his model and I agree with the judge’s decision to make this the winning garment. Chloe
Blah color. Hideous line across the hips and rear end. She’s very lucky not to be out. Santino
Well, I didn’t like it. But at least it didn’t put me to sleep like the others. Too much cr@p on it as always. Kara – out
Poorly made, too short and doesn’t really stand out. Next week is the big reunion show and it looks to be quite a show!
Where the hell is my chiffon?

Last night's show was more than a bit underwhelming as far as entertainment factor and the designs. I agree, it is hard to watch the show without Nick being in the competition.I thought that Daniel made a very nice dress despite the fact that he played it very safe. I thought it gave a look of elegance and flow, it looks as though a woman would feel good in it. I don't disagree with the judges decision for him to win, although I was thinking Santino would. Chloe's outfit was the worse I have ever seen her do this entire season. I hated the low waist hemming or whatever it's called. The back was the worse. Whenever the model walked the material around her bottom would lift making it look like she was wearing a diaper or something. Not very flatering of a dress nor was she thinking outside of the box, heck I can't comfortably say that Chloe was thinking at all. I was surprised to hear Chloe say that she didn't know if she even wanted it (first place). Then to turn around and say that her being there showed she had passion. Hello Chloe, if you can question if you want it then your passion isn't where it should be, I think you are mistaking your passion of designing for the passion to win and become a known designer. With that said I'm glad she did make it to final three but I don't want to see her win, why should she when Daniel and Santino so clearly know that they want the first place. You know I couldn't hate Santino's dress. Honestly, when he was making it I thought it was looking nice. I think if Santino didn't go a little overboard with his add ons then he would have won this time around. I can't say that I love this guy nor can I say I hate this guy. Santino does irk me at times with his over arrogance but at the same time he is a nice designer with a decent sense of humor that could be fun to be around. Although I love Nick and thought his outfit should have beat Santino's last week I thought it was crap how the other designers were punishing him for it. I mean it wasn't Santino who Auf Wiedersaned Nick it was Heidi and the other chuckle head judges. Yes, Santino lied about why the sleeve was coming off but it didn't get him more ahead, after all the judges would just say that a person should be able to move around without their garments tearing. I was so so so happy to see Kara go. It's really about friggin time. Had it not been for group or partner challenges and the fact that other people made extremely hideous designs this woman wouldn't have gone as far. When did we ever see Kara not have a problem with knowing what kind of fabric to pick out or where she was going with her design? How many times was Kara asking the assistance of her fellow designers? Gosh, even sweetheart Nick became sick of it, which was evident when he commented that he was not playing teacher to her anymore. This woman had more excuses, troubles and mundane outfits than anyone else. If she made it to fashion week it would have upset me considering the fact that she doesn't seem to know who she is as a designer and if she does then why not show it?

I would have LOVED to see what Nick would have designed. . . Very underwhelmed. I really think the designers this season showed a lot less creativity and fire than last season. I wonder if the producers were casting for more drama possibilities, rather than bringing in serious talent and designers who really were hungry for this? Whatever they did, they better not do it again for next season. Maybe it's time for new judges. Actually, I think the Judges made lousy cuts this season, leaving us with who we have. I was very disappointed in Chloe's "been there, tough life" attitude and lackluster design. It's obvious she really isn't interested in winning. VERY disappointing. Daniel's gown was not as creative and inspired as I would have liked. I am really hoping for him to win over Santino, but I just have a sneaking suspicion that he'll come in as runner-up. I just don't get Santino. Another over-the-top, tacky creation. Yet, I've seen his Fashion Week collection which is nothing like what we've seen him do on this show. Maybe he was off his meds during the NYC portion of the show & when he got home, his psychiatrist got him back on his regimen? Well, I'm surprised that the reunion is looking to be as explosive and nasty as the clips are making it out to be. This season seemed pretty "composed" compared to last year. Well, I hope I'm not "underwhelmed" at the reunion . Kind Creation of ARNutz

One thing that I forgot to comment on was Kara's comment to Santino because he wouldn't help her. I thought it was really nervey of Kara to get all in a tiff because Santino wouldn't help her when they are working on their last challenge to see who makes it to Fashion Week and he had a lot that he had to do just to be finished. I just felt like screaming at her that it's a competition and as much as everyone wants to help each other and be friends you just can't at the expense of losing out on your chance to be finished and prepared. Again, still very glad this chic is out of the competition.

I agree that the evening gowns were very underwhelming. I was disappointed because I wanted to see something more exciting. Poor Iman, she was probably regretting her promise to wear one of them! Does anyone else think that the final three last season were more talented? I have a hard time imagining any of the final three this season designing a whole line of interesting garments to show at fashion week. I think the reason that Jay won last time was because his clothing had a distinct style that was uniquely his own and his garments were different yet recognizable together as a group of his designs. (does that make sense?) I think that the ability to design a whole unique and interesting line is what the designers this season are lacking.

I join the underwhelmed crowd. I did like Daniel's dress. The color was lovely, and fit and flow as well. But it was also on the bland side. I thought Santino had the makings of a really knock out gown, but again he went overboard with the trimmings. Looking at his collection, I'm confused. Who is the real Santino? The one on the show or the one who designed for fashion week? Chloe's dress was such a disappointment. Is she just burnt out? I didn't like the color, certainly didn't like the shape. If her bone-thin model looks like a sack of potatoes in it, imagine what a n average-sized woman would look like! Kara's - nuff said by everyone else. Interesting little party they had in the middle of the chaos. I thought the timing was a little cruel. I mean, would it be a good idea to go mingle and have a few cocktails before returning to the workroom to finish up a project that you hope gets you to the final three? Tipsy and working a professional grade sewing machine doesn't sound like a good combo to me. On a side note, how interesting that the three designers from last season at the cocktail hour were Jay, Cara, and Austin. Is Wendy persona non grata? I thought Austin's gold shawl was lovely - but the boy should eat a little bit more. A strong wind could blow him clear to Long Island. Sig pic by JSlice

According to Tim Gunn's podcast on the Bravo website, Wendy was invited but couldn't make it because it was the same time as a family camping trip.
